That's a lot of gold!

What colour are you base coating with? It looks to have some interesting reflective properties, as it looks quite different on the Rhino and on the jet bikes.

Hi FC, it’s the retributor armour gold spray straight over plastic. Seems to work fine on the Infantry (though I did give the resin containing models a base of runelord brass first) but it’s come out a bit odd on the vehicles. Took several coats for decent coverage.

Hellblasters done! Once I’ve wrapped up the ultramarines (only company heroes and 5 intercessors to go) I’m going to focus on assembly for a few months - should be easier to fit in around new baby duties than painting.

im going to use heresy models for a csm alpha legion army and also have a good clear out of my tyranids making way for the leviathan minis.

Oooh, I really like that dark, cool red for the sergeant helmet, that's really nice.

Cheers, it’s simply khorne red over rhinox hide (or the colourforge spray equivalent). I actually missed the highlights on the helm on this occasion but normally add some wazdakka red.

They look great.

Do we get to see a "family shot" when they're all done?

but of course. Should be in the next week. Hopefully with some decent lighting

Lovely work overall, particularly impressed with Ventris' face as I really dislike the studio paint job and was blaming the sculpt, but looking at yours shows it's the paint job after all.

cheers. He’s at that awkward stage where I’d like to add more highlights / detail to the face but don’t want to ruin the grimdark look. I’m also a believer that less is more when it comes to faces. Here’s where I’m at presently. Almost got all the base coats on and the blue armour is done.

Your painting is superlative. I Love your Sons Of Orar, I always thought that was a striking Chapter Color. Your Ultramarines have a gritty "Veteran" look.

Thank you. I am hoping to wind down the sons over the next 18 months and will revisit the ultramarines again next year for sure. I’d like to do some heavily weathered imperial fists at some point with physical battle damage such as cratered and chipped armour to play around with some new techniques.

Aaaaannnd they’re done. 8ish weeks and 1250 points. The sergeant from the infernus squad is absent but I’ll add him in later when they release the combat patrol magazine. Very happy with the turnout.

Hi folks. New baby arrived and all is well but means hobby time is at a premium for the next few months so I don’t anticipate getting many targets achieved. Plus the ultramarine project overran a few weeks. What I had pencilled in originally for April-June was the following:

- assemble mk6 marines for 2000 point alpha legion csm army.
- assemble new tyranid models from leviathan / Xmas set to update tyranid army.
- paint contrast death guard quota for this year - 20 models

- sons of orar - paint 5 scouts / drop pod / gladiator.

I suspect I will be able to get through the assembly in the next 10 weeks as that is relatively easy to pick up and put down. The painting on the other side will be a bit trickier so while I may just get all the sons stuff done I think the death guard will lose out.
