So as per Valrak's " sauce"  this new boxset ( and assorted supplements?) should arrive before summer.

and God i hope so then i can ask mummy and daddy for a copy for my birthday :D

i have no idea where il need the rumoured mk6 marines to go i may start a heavy weapons company of Blood angels so i can do them all with the blue helmets for that classic RT look.

There's pictures floating around Facebook of a new contemptor and predator datasheet. There's a bespoke movement stat on both, but the contemptor now has toughness and wounds instead of armour. A very odd change if true.

The idea behind this is to bring Dreadnoughts on line with MC.

I find one of the hardest things to believe for me from this is Lascannon turret Predators.

It's been lore for decades they didn't exist in the Heresy.

Always been a bit of a weird bit of lore, especially as the kit contains lascanons for the turret!

Could easily be soft retconned by saying something like ‘As the Heresy ground on, Legions on both sides of the conflict found themselves facing enemies equipped with identical arms & armour. Quickly, new ways were found to give Legion formations an edge over their erstwhile brothers, with the retro fitting of Lascanons and other heavier weaponry to the ubiquitous Predator Strike Tank being just one example…’

We must also remember that the predator sheet had 'PLAYTEST' plastered over it, it's quite possible that what we see won't be what we get. They may cut weapons and options down (5 strong predator squadrons and forced to buy the sponson weapons are one thing I don't think will stick [preads in current 30k are just 75pts with just the autocannon, 95 with the sponson bolters and not the 120pts as shown]).

That Predator 'datasheet' looks very iffy, if not fake.

At the most, it looks like something temporary you would insert into a starter box until you'd release the real thing.

But who knows, maybe they're getting rid of  'overly complicated defensive rules options'  like Ceramite and Extra Armour ... :wallbash:

Im just going to go out on a limb and say that the giant, green PHASE 3 PLAYTEST text slapped onto the front of it is, yknow, the reason why it doesnt look final.

And end with the Volkite Sponsons look neat and its nice that you can have a full-Volkite Predator.

Why didn't I think of that ?

Even without it, it looks iffy.

But hey, we'll know when we get there.  *shrugs*

Personally, I'd be disappointed if we'd lose certain (vehicle) gear options due to so-called streamlining.

Personally I think restricting armoured ceramite to the tougher vehicle makes sense, and would make meltas more viable as at tactical option. Similar to reducing who can take artificer armour, to just characters and special units rather than every sergeant.

Honestly i wouldnt be sad to see both of those upgrades go, Extra armour is such a no brainer on any tank you want to keep mobile that its more a flaw in the vehicle damage table than a real option, its also available to pretty much everything so its not even really a design choice, not extra just armour. :D

Armoured ceramite is a bit more complicated, it works on specialist stuff but widely available it falls down because one of the pillars of Imperial AT is Melta weapons, except they arent because anything worth blowing up has a cheap upgrade that nigh on nullifies them completely. So meltaguns are a noob trap (albeit with a side game in character/heavy infantry murder)  that doesnt really work the way they are supposed to. At least until players start gaming the meta and leaving off the ceramite because noone takes meltaguns anymore which is a whole 'nother kettle of meta nonsense...

So yeah, neither one is objectively bad game design but they are getting there!

I mentioned this over in the News & Rumours thread, but for everyone unsure about the veracity based of the pages' design/ formatting:

something I just noticed: the bottom corners on the lore boxout border for the predator match the upper corners on the new heresy box trim, and the astrological patterns in the background are also present on both:

one of my biggest doubts with these leaks were the change in formatting, but with the new box design & logo it might match

supposed images from the Loyalist Legions book - suggests they'll be similar to the loyalist/ traitor legio books for AT, with background, iconography and rules sections for each covered legion

the visual differenced between the artstyle for the Mk6 helms and the other marks (extant art from previous black books) also matches up to the recent art style shift for Titanicus, which presumably now uses the 3D models from the miniatures as the base for the illustrations

Good catch, Iron Hands Fanatic. The formatting does look the same.

I really hope GW previews the Horus Heresy during Adepticon. I’ve been flirting with playing 30K for years; the rumored box set would be the way to get me to play. Ideally, the game does well and is supported with exciting releases.
