BloodyB
Hi, just found out the neighbours play 40k and plan to have a few games in the yard in the sunshine. Obviously, I want to play a fun, but competitive list, so I finished painting up my assault squads and settled on a jump list. It's a fairly straightforward list, an incursion 4 way tourney, Necrons, Tau and some space marines, not sure which chapter. Just Incursion games, nothing special. My list has Captain with relic blade and jump pack Sanguinary priest with a jump pack Sanguinary guard and ancient A pair of assault squads A storm speeder Hammerstrike All told, with wargear comes to exactly 900 points. My question to the forum is thus: Assault bolter Inceptors, or Suppressors? The anti infantry fire of inceptors, plus their extra toughness and wound is attractive, but denying overwatch and D2 is pretty handy as well. The Hammerstrike is there to look good, and blow up tanks. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. Xenith
Plasma inceptors > suppressors > assault bolter inceptors. I'd even say suppressors are maybe better than plasma inceptors on a point to point basis - plasmaceptors wound marines on a 2+, but die on a 1 to hit, while suppressors wound on a 3+, with no risk. Assault bolter inceptors are pretty pointles now Suppressors get 3 shots at S7 AP-1 D2 and over twice the range. Suppression fire is just the icing on the cake against tau and necrons. The Unseen
Inceptors are close range fire support, and are almost always going to be in deepstrike. Suppressors have the range to shoot from across the table and don't need buffs to not kill themselves. They do different things, suppressors are a long range attrition shooty unit, with a profile thats decent vs everything but great vs very little, and plasma inceptors drop in, nuke something, and then die. Didn't even realize that the autocannons get 3 shots now, that makes the choice a lot easier. Suppressors it is! Thanks for the advice!
