Seems like there isn’t a mad rush for this box. 3 hours in the preorder window, and it is still easily available for delivery in two weeks.

Well aside from the fact GW actively prevented the "mad rush" by making sure that you could still buy it whether you log on at 10:00 or 22:00, it looks like they have produced a massive amount of copies.

If Darksphere are saying they're getting nearly a thousand copies then we're talking about a 3000% increase in availability over Cursed City.

Are many/major FLGS doing discounts for preorders?

Dark Sphere are doing their usual 25% discount. Wayland Games are offering 10%. I can't check Element at the moment as I can't seem to access their site.

My local FLGS (smaller than the above 3) are doing 20% off as usual.

Sweet lord the compendium sounds like a super boring drag. It is quite clear this game has been built with a buisness model first and foremost, and as a healthy game a distant second.

Have fun playing an Assault Intercessor killteam. No options and no special rules.

So unless you shell out for each of the upcoming Killteam boxes you are basically stuck with the lesser options in the Compendium. The two new Killteams aren’t even in the compendium for heavens sake.

From what I read on sprues and brews the SM look pretty screwed to me.

Some factions might be interesting though.

CSM, DG, abd sisters did look quite interesting to me personally. But I might need to see the book in person to judge.

Having had a glimpse of the rules of the DkoK in comparison with the rest it looks a bit like the compendium will be not invalid but quite obsolete once every faction had their special box a la warcry.

Why would the new ones be in a book that’s supposed to bridge a gap?

A lot of people complained that the compendium was extra… seems like we can skip it all along.

I think people's problem is that it comes at the price of a codex.

Sure you can skip it. But what are you going to play then? There are no rules for any kill teams other than the two in the Octarius book?

Just waited for about 40 minutes to confirm that I can't order due to Ozzy Lockdown.

Just saved $445

I'll order the rules and Compendium later.....

I mean that's entirely on you. GW have been clear that you wouldn't be able to order it in Aus / NZ today...

Yes it is.

Worth a check though.

And I just saved $445.

Now after reading comments here and watching the reviews can continue to play KT18, great news.

I dunno, the Goonhammer review of the Compendium seemed pretty positive. Sounds like the teams really work well against each other. Not sure how they’ll stack up against Kommandos/DKoK and the other purpose-designed ones, but it hardly seems burning or pointless.

I bought two boxes for $300.  I am keeping only the orks and terrain, selling the rest.  Our group is not happy with the change to Kill team ruleset so we are using onepage rules firefight rules (which are free).

I think for Marines the best way to build an interesting team from the Compendium will be Deathwatch?

Lots of options, and with only 1 wound less than Primaris (was it 11 rather than 12?) its not a big difference if you want to use Primaris bodies instead?

I was able to pre order a copy my mate and I are going halves on from my FLGS here in Melbourne, they must’ve got there stock before the GW lockdown some how ?!?.. pick it up next Saturday… don’t know the price yet though…fingers crossed !

Mithril

After reading the in depth Goonhammer review im fairly happy for the Talons and Xenos kill teams, kinda annoyed at the marine ones as mine are built around kit bashing the 3 mini sets. Ah well, i guess they can sit on the shelf until the inevitable Marine box down the line. Very glad i didnt stress out gathering the funds and then face the utter joy of pre ordering :D :P

Cheers re FLGS

Looks like they got much bigger pre orders too for a 40k box in a year

Deathwatch look good for marines

KT still in stock. Even if they overproduced they have 2 more weeks but mainly got the PR win. Also contents can be easily enough reboxed.

Guessing therell be another cheaper/less special starter box for KT? OR starter pack. Or tokens and some other bits in each warzone box?

Lucky mate, FYI it's $345 NZ and $99NZ for the Compendium. Less your FLGS discount ofc.

Canada based, some of us don't get any discount at our local shop.

Mithril might in Oz though, my FLGS here in NZ was going to sell it at $299 and $89 for the Compendium but was limited to two boxes (which I obviously missed, due to being out of town for the week).

Bit of a shame you don't get one, hope you enjoy the game though.

Watching some video reviews this morning and wow they really don't want us using our old kill teams and mix matching models. Basically if I want to have a space marine infiltrator I gotta play five of them and that's the end of it, no customization. I get that they want to push their new upcoming unique fire teams but this sure will alienate a lot of people (including me).

I've preordered from FLGS for the January reprint, with payment on delivery. Best choice, IMO. No stress, no need to freeze money, still get my stuff, etc.

But from the Compendium reviews, I think I will offload everything but the miniatures and paint those for sale. The "fireteams" system stunts the whole idea IMO, unless every single other faction gets detailed rules like the Krieg have, for example, with "not-specialists" in them. And this will make the current compendium obsolete, so I'm definitely not paying for that.
