Anyway, on a more positive note, once I've finally got my hands on the lunch box I plan to get at least one of everything else. Possibly 2 Marshals do I can have each load out.

I prefer to just magnetize than double up on the same model - less to paint that way, since the backlog is endless already :P I reckon need to do the few remaining units to have my plastic Sisters at 2k finally (including rebasing everyone, 'cause I'm silly), and then dive more into the marines. Though I'll probably start on the Redemptor early in terms of building, since I wanna check the viability of my planned pose for it. I also need to acquire some bling for it prior to painting anyway.

I got both my boxes yesterday. Opened one up to look through the sprues and book. I'm glad I dodged the bent Emperor's Champion sword in mine. These sprues are really nice though, very excited to build and paint them.

 

My big order of Coat D'arms arrived too, so I can get some painting done during my holiday next week.

Got mine yesterday as well. As far as the Marshall, and even on some of the Crusaders... something that I didn't realize just from the sprues. Splitting the gun hand into two halves for no other reason but to take the piss out of magnetizers :P Should be doable, but more of a pain than it needed to be.

 

Incidentally I'm also pondering about giving him just an Auto Bolt Rifle option as well. Would allow for it to be master-crafted without using up a relic slot, though if my googling is any indication apparently master-crafting a combi-weapon might buff both profiles? Still, wouldn't allow for a melee relic. At any rate problem is getting him that particular gun. Carving the lower hands out of the Crusaders guns would be a pain. And of course... I dunno how many lists he's gonna see at least as a Marshal, given how good Helbrecht is. Might just use him as an extra Sword Brother instead.

 

But I digress. My next purchase for BT might be the bike Chaplain, as there's no news on when the rest of the BT-specific kits might land. Contrary to previous predictions I might be able to swing a kit or two this year, in addition to at least Vahl for my Sisters for tournament use. But I guess we'll see, as there's more than enough painting to be done already.

I think many non-competitive players will play him. He looks amazing and in even then he should be not that bad if he takes Tennhausers Relic for example.

It's not that a Captain's bad - but Helbrecht is just so epic. Both model and rules. Not that I'll necessarily always use Helbrecht, or that the Marshal model isn't nice! But he won't look off as a Sword Brother either, when given the correct loadout. Also could use him as Castellan when not using dual Chaplains. Always ways to use nice models outside of their titular role.

Was it your GW order or did you get it elsewhere?

Elsewhere, cancelled my GW one when it hadn't been sent for 2 days after discovering it should have, with the responses being vague "soon"s. then ordered it from one local retailer, and after it having not been sent from then within 24h, i cancelled that, and ordered from another that had a "orders made before 4 o clock will be sent the same day policy" It was in my mail box the very next day. The whole process felt cursed until I at last, had a box in my hands.

I ended up getting a second box in my local Warhammer shop as my one from GW won't be delivered until more Sgt Castus models are made.

 

In terms of what else I'll get, I only need one more Crusader Squad to make my initial 2000pt list. If it's launched at the same time as everything else I might just get the combat patrol box for the crusader squad and upgrade frame (plus an impulsor for another army). I'm only going to look at getting the new characters and other options once I've painted this first list.

I got 2 of the launch boxes, and will grab a combat patrol box (I have an Impulsor still on sprue so that will give me a pair).

 

Then it will be Grim, Helbrecht, a couple of upgrade sprues and intercessors.  After that Ill see how the army develops.

Maybe try Phobos helmets? I imagine that infiltrators/incursors wouldn't look too out of place

He would make for a stunning chaplain with very little work.

One reason why I wouldn't be too eager to try to convert one is the cape... I don't like overly dramatic capes, and when it's implemented like this it's hard to get rid of cleanly. It's too conspicuous when fielding multiples in the same list at least. Curious to see what others might come up with conversion-wise though, stock cape or otherwise!
