End of Month update. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2183900/view/4326354629820779098

Greetings, Space Marines!

We’re only 41 days away from the release of

Space Marine 2

; it’s the perfect time for our monthly Community Update!

(got it? 41 days? 41st Millenium? ;) ;) )

We can sense the excitement growing as the release gets closer, and even more, since we announced that

SPACE MARINE 2
IS OFFICIALLY GOLD

For those unfamiliar with the gaming industry, this means that the game has been approved by Microsoft and Sony and that we’ve been given the green light for the production of our retail boxes. Though we’ll continue to work on polish until the release, this essentially means that the game is ready.

This is a huge milestone for the teams and another major step towards the game’s full release on

September 9

, so we’re very proud to share the good news with you all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Over the past months, we’ve seen many questions about the precise features of the game. We’ll try to tackle a few here:

  • Do I need to have played
    Space Marine 1
    to go into
    Space Marine 2
    ?
    • Not at all! While there are returning characters, it's a fresh story that can be understood as its own without having played the first game.
  • Will the game be available on GeForce Now?
    • Yes.
  • Will it be possible to pre-download the game before the release?
    • No.
  • Is there couch co-op?
    • No, co-op features will only be available online.
  • Does the game require to be “always online” to play?
    • Offline mode is available for the campaign
    • PVE can be played offline, but you won't have access to progression if you do not connect to the servers.
  • How long does it take to complete the campaign?
    • On average, the campaign should take between 10 to 12 hours to complete. This can vary depending on the difficulty and your player profile.
  • What are the PC specs?
    • At this moment, we are conducting the final PC specs tests. We’re very aware that it’s one of the most awaited information on the game, and we will come back to you within the next couple of weeks with the recommended and minimum specs.

What’s next in August?

We know you’re super thirsty for more content so be assured that you do not need to worry, you can expect more videos to pop up on our YouTube and social media channels (Discord, Twitter, Facebook).
Talking about videos, we’re currently publishing on our secondary channel a series of short videos detailing some aspects of the game: weapons, enemies, environments…

You'll find the complete playlist

.

Amongst the upcoming short videos, there will be more weapons, a rundown of the different PvE classes, and more!

On top of that, you can expect co-op previews to start dropping during August, with content creators starting publishing videos on their side as well.

Next, we’ll detail the post-launch content of Space Marine 2 in a blog article that should be published around mid-August.

Finally, we’re reaching the final stages of our North America Tour, with Chicago (August 16-18) and Toronto (August 22-25) being the final places where you’ll be able to put your hands on Space Marine 2’s demo before the release.

Has anyone seen any skins variants beyond colour scheme?

For example, World Eaters in the Horus Heresy colours look very different in MK5 than the current 40K World Eaters.

I'm sure we all want to see MK3 Loyalists too, as well as Iron Warriors.

And I guess Beakies, which are popular too (just not with me) and the obvious ommission otherwise.

Any customization on the traitor side is still unknown, as the influencer preview build only contained one campaign mission and two operaqtions missions.

On the loyalist side it's so far all based on MkX except for the DW shoulder pad.

There is allegedly a roadmap coming mid-August that'll expand on what is coming via updates and DLC. I assume any amount of Beaky helmet will come via a Raven Guard themed DLC akin to the Ultramarines themed DLC.

A friend passed this on to me and it is a review of the game:

Crucially, it shows some things earlier on with the "Tactical" creation (which sounds suspiciously like a Modern Warfare terminology but it's not the end of the world).

I can confirm the last skin (relic secondus) looks very much like an Ultramarines Horus Heresy armoured Marine:

Screenshot_20240810_002436_YouTube.thumb.jpg.3c225429054ace9d0b3ae8205c598627.jpg

Ultramarines are lucky in that the helm, although clearly linked to the MKX, looks a lot like MK4 Praetor variant the Ultramarines produced in the Crusade and Heresy eras.

I will continue watching and see if there's some beakies for Raven Guard players to gush over.

I imagine the other Chapters might miss out on impact of that variant above though as it doesn't look particularly reminiscent of Heresy era Iron Hands etc.

Good news for me though

Watched the video... lots of customisation of specific armour sets, but little variation.

To elaborate, in Space Marine 1 you could customise your skin to represent a wide range of armour marks and styles, which worked equally for the Chaos boys too.

In Space Marine 2, there isn't any real option for helmet variants, except a few small exceptions such as above and an open visor version for the "bulwark" class. It's very much an Gravis Armoured Marine for heavy whether you want to have a beakie or not.

Lots of little extra bobbins to add to your Vanguard Marine, but he's in Phobos no matter how much you might want him to wear MK6.

Lastely, as awesome as the game looks, don't expect any representation except paint for Heretics/Chaos Marines/traitors. You'll be using Primaris weapons for the classes, with a Chaos skin.

So Chaos Marines Vanguard, complete with Lasfusil, Plasma Incinerator armed Heavy class but with a World Eater skin... that sort of thing.

A mixed bad for those infused with Chaos worship amongst us, or those who might want Beakies or whatever. I'm lucky in that the Tactical class is my most preferred type and it has a good representation (though still MK10 in some places) of a Heresy skin, that looks good for Ultramarines.

So Chaos Marines Vanguard, complete with Lasfusil, Plasma Incinerator armed Heavy class but with a World Eater skin... that sort of thing.

Minor correction: The Fusil is a sniper weapon, which on the chaos side is represented by the Alpha Legionnaire. Vanguard instead chooses from two carbines and the melta.

This one breaks it all down quite nicely.

I mean all the chaos marines are conveniently the same height as the loyalist offerings, plus chaos snipers isn't unheard of, just not a standard tabletop offering.

And as far as chaos customization goes we only have the leaked artbook examples.

There's supposed to be a roadmap coming soon, ideally it'll be a meaty one.

spoilers don't seem to work correct right now

Apparently xbox.com has details on the initial dlc packs.

Images are seemingly too big for me to post, but the video has them. Additionally the season pass contents will be released in 4 phases, though it is unclear how those phases are structured.

Big customization article! https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2183900/view/4238536974129469039

Greetings, Space Marines!

Today, we’re going to examine customisation in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

more closely. We’ve received many questions about this topic, and we hope to answer most of them here!

Customisation starts in the Armouring Hall, where you can select your class, your equipment, perks, and, today’s main topic, customise your Space Marine’s armour.

Each class comes with a selection of pre-made armour sets that you’ll have to unlock in PvE or PvP game modes. You can also decide to create your own custom armour set. This is where your creativity shines! Various designs of helm, pauldrons, breastplate, wargear, gauntlets and greaves can be unlocked by playing in multiplayer modes.

Customisation gets especially interesting when checking out the second tab of the customisation menu, “Astartes Chapters”. Here, you can access presets representing many legendary Space Marine Chapters.

Once again, you’ll be able to customise your armour set, personalising each part with different paints, emblems, and colour patterns.

You’ll unlock these elements in the Heraldry menu to faithfully recreate the colour scheme of your favourite Chapter, or create your own custom design.

Before…

And after! (don’t even say he’s ugly)

Heretic Astartes characters can also be customised for your PvP matches! Each class corresponds to a specific Traitor Legion (for example, Assault will always be represented by a Night Lords Raptor), but you can change the colours and apply different emblems.

Finally, there’s the Astartes Heraldry menu, where you’ll acquire each Chapter’s unique customisation elements. Emblems, colours and armour parts from Adeptus Astartes, Heretic Astartes, Unknown Foundings, First Founding, Second Founding and Successor Chapters!

On launch, over 30 different Chapters have their colours and heraldry available to unlock.

Whilst some of them are exclusive to the Season Pass, the majority of them are available to unlock through game progression.

And that’s it for the customisation! Don’t hesitate to let us know if you still have questions regarding this feature. We know how important customisation is for any Warhammer fan! We hope you’ll like it and spend hours in these menus to create YOUR very own Space Marine.

See you very soon on the battlefield!

Traitor class being legion locked in sculpts is a bit annoying, but the paint is already plenty. Hell, it's basically like the tabletop, Take your World Eaters Models and paint them as Alpha Legion, now you can pick if those are alpha legionnaires that fell to khorne or world eaters that got tricked into the hydras maw.
