May Summary

 

With the minor disturbance that was the board software upgrade, and server migration taking place at the close of May, we were all given a reprieve on the deadline for the month. 

26 Frater once more took up the challenge and we pledged a very healthy 199 models, of which we managed to complete an respectable 121 of those models.

If May is the third (or more) time you have earned a specific Badge, you are now entitled to upgrade from Black to Bronze for all future months for that badge.

This month came down to a battle of the big bois. In a tough call between Dwango's excellent Wraithknight, and TPS' amazing Knight Cerastus, it was the striking green of TPS' work that clinched May's Favourite for 2022.

Well, the extra couple of days before the boards go down and bad enough weather that I got some weekend & evening time I wasn't expecting and I got the Grey knights done too.

The pictures have been quite unkind on the white helmets and the sword effect, both of which I think look much better in person, I might try and play with the settings a bit while the site is down.

For June I'm targeting 10 Tzaangors, 3 Sulphorhounds and a Grey Knight Venerable Dreadnought, but I haven't even built them yet...

So here is my second May completion:

That took a hell of a lot longer then I wanted. Still mostly happy with the White Talons. Particularly the aspiring Champion's axe. Received notification today that my Eldritch Omens is finally being sent. I intend on trying to marathon the contents of that in a month but with the site down for a while that may wait. Instead for the month of June I intend on mostly focussing on my Plodding Along Vow as I am half war through the year and barely touched it. But I am also looking at trying to get a vow done for the Royal Awakening as well as the Bug's Life challenges. For now I will commit to five of the Necron Warriors in the group photo below. with hopefully more to follow.

EDIT: Also Grotsmasha, I note you aren't showing me as having completed the Fuel pipe, Thermo Exchanger shrine and Aegis Defence line of my Plodding Along vow but I finished them and posted pics a few months ago. They were crappy pics (links actually I think) and I will get better ones up for this month wit hthe rest I do. Just thought I would mention it. Thanks mate.

So, the B&C is back, and I need to post my May vow finish. I do now see that I would have had time to post back then as the forum went down for maintenance several days later than I thought it was going to do so, sorry.

May completion, 5 Devourgants 

 

Now this month I have been working on the remaining 10 Devourgants that I committed to for A Bug’s Life, and I have nearly finished them, will hopefully be done with them early next week, just in time for the end of the month.

I didn't manage to finish anything at the end of May alas, but I've been plugging away at my first squad of World Eaters slowly in June, including multiple attempts at getting a good blue. Also trying out a much larger batch than I normally do, in order to get a method down for cranking through these guys, otherwise I'll be here till Heresy 3.0 still trying to get them done!

The tac squad is now up to 11 models in progress, I'll be filling them up to 20 with the new Mark VI next. I've also changed my mind, and switched to bolters with chain bayonets instead of chainaxes now the final points are confirmed in the Liber.

So I hope to have these finished in June - bolters, details and weathering is up next.

I've also literally just finished modding my old compressor. The poor old thing has not appreciated the warm weather and keeps locking up after 20-30 minutes work. Plus a bent needle has seriously made things hard going, and that replacement arrived a couple of days ago.

It's a couple of PC fans, some soldering to a 12V power supply and a 4 pin fan splitter, and some hot glue. Not my prettiest work, but it seems to be working so far, and is quieter than the compressor itself! Cheaper than a new one...

Beautiful work! 

I love the eliminator models in general, they were some of my favorite marines to put together and paint. Love your color choices and how you did the cloaks. Also the bits of purple really add a lot to the miniatures!

I agree Eliminators are really nice sculpts although it has to be said that they are not that easy to paint once fully assembled. That one has many hard to reach crevices which are still visible under certain angles. The rifle really got in the way while I was trying to paint the face :D

I'm with you with the purple - it's such a great color! I'm really glad a Frater in the BA sub-forum convinced me into trying it out! Now I use it with gusto on gems, purity seals, heraldry,... :)
