(On the very off-chance that anyone from BL reads and uses this thread to inform future publishing policies, I’d like to state that I *love* ebooks as a format)

I’m now so far behind in my reading it’s laughable; barely a third through Echoes of Eternity much as I am enjoying it I’m just struggling to find time/inclination to read.

I’ve got the T’au characters novel coming, largely out of force of habit, and I’ll go for the Cadian Blood reissue in the same way- got to maintain my ADB LE collection- but even new and upcoming titles that genuinely excite me, like the themed shorts collections, aren’t quite enough to get me reading.

Guess I’ll have plenty to get through when I do feel inclined again though.

I also run into the scenario where i am also tempted to sell some of my books but I also want to keep them for reference and fond memories. I cant look at a shelf of :cuss:ing pdfs or a kindle and be reminded of reading that book or think of if I want to re-read it. I think creating and arranging a collection of books is a very personal work of art/hobby. I think  there is something sacred about books and reading a :cuss:ing kindle or pdf does not compare to being able to hold a good book and flip the pages of something you are absolutely enamored with to the point you are struggling to stay awake in order to finish it.

This. I love reading books but I also feel this aspect of book-loving is underrated and why the issues with Black Library's physical product delivery is so frustrating.

Other stories include Sister Augusta, Ciaphas Cain, an Ufthak spinoff, a Cadian sniper story, an Amendera Kendel proto-inquisition story that isn't written by Swallow but Jude Reid instead, Annandale's Typhon story seems to be set before he returns to Mortarion's side, spreading his corruption a little more, and the White Scars story is set post-Last Hunt and has the Scars take revenge on the Red Corsairs. Probably the most we'll get from that plotline.

Full list (from viewing site in UK https://www.fnac.com/e65968/Black-Library?PageIndex=2&SDM=list&SFilt=1!34&ssi=5&sso=1) appears to be as follows:

4 Danie Ware The Skull Forge 40K Augusta Santorus

20 Evan Dicken Harrowhand AoS Blacktalon
22 David Annandale The Fields of Abundance tHH Calas Typhon

Site gives a little brief on each short's story within their respective listings (if able/wish to access).

I've been collecting since 2000 and I've got all paperbooks released (not counting with special editions but I have all Boxtree novels) and my list is going strong and I have 831 paper novels. It's a billy stand plus a couple of other shelfs of a second billy.  This collection I have no doubt I could sell by thousands of dollars but I love my collection even if some of the novels are not that good I will not sell it haha :)

One of the things I complain or at least argued was the the amount of short stories they publish in ebook format. I don't read ebooks - never read- never will. (crazy people I know) Imagine my case, I buy all paperbooks (hardcovers at times etc). Per example I bought all dark imperium novels by Guy then he wrote two shorties linked to it. but they are not in paperback for now, eiher a) they publish in a short story collection or b) they will publish a omnibus with them included  or c) they make a special edition with them included. Now I already gave 30€ to buy all 3 books, now I have to pay 15€ for the omnibus or short story collection...

I am not even talking about all short stories published in ebook format that never were printed in paper format.  There are so many connected short stories to the novels we read (They are not mandatory I guess) but to a completionist is a bit disappointing...

This is me. But 99% of my collection is all ebooks. Bar a few limited source books like Liber Chaotica and Ahriman series. Even non 40k novels i only buy ebooks, unless it's impossible to get one, like House of Leaves or XX. Limited apartment space and cost is my main deterrent. Not to mention I like carrying a thousand books in my pocket. Though I never buy shorts from BL, unless it's Peter Fehervari!

But I have to o agree, having to wait years for an Omnibus to collect the shorts from limited editions is... A pain.

Limited ed bubble burst? This weeks and last not selling out in usual stupid time. I don’t think the Brooks mega edition sold out either. Leftovers still at Warhammer World.
GW greed sticking more money on ridiculous high priced items returning to them. Todays was an ADB classic. Six months ago this would have disappeared in an instant

I got my ADB classic. I really love the novel But tell me something  since I got into sepcial editions in the beginning and then I Stop because they were throwing every month and I was low on money. Now I have a bit more cash and got a couple (ADB & Dark Imperium). WhatI know is that before you could buy 10 if you wish but now it said only one by costumer, maybe tyhat lower people hoarding and selling on high prices?

So personally I dont think its a bubble burst but it depends on the product and the price.

I wanted to get the Cadian Blood special edition, but when I was about to order this morning I though, 65 EUR?? For an unillustrated special edition? No they really have to try harder than this, that is too much for the product being delivered. And I already have it in paperback. For that price its not special enough, thats just about the same money in EUR as I paid for Siege of Terra 7, which is a lot more lavish and has artwork.

Similarly last week's LE is a Tau novel by Phil Kelly. I suspect that is still available because his work is not hugely in demand.

I agree, for 125 (so double of this one) you got 3 books (the dark empirium). I only got it because I love the novel. I would the same for some of my favorite but as you said, Kelly which is a NEW book and it cost less and still is there. That's a shame they are increasing prices.  50€ is the amount I think should go for a full lenght novel in this special edition BUT 65€ is a bit steep. Again, only bought it because is one of my favorite.

Would glady pay 150 for the night lords trilogy that was release a couple years ago and I coudln't get it at that time. oh well..

Talking about books, why Celestine the book was never republished as paperback per example?

What about Ephraël Stern : La Sainte Hérétique? Why is this avaiable in french and german but not in english? Was ever published in englsih? If so, why not in paper?

Usually they publish paperbooks 6 months or so after the hard. Why those two were never reprinted in paper format?

Those books were published as A5 hardbacks, these never/very rarely get paperbacks.

Warhammer Horror hardbacks, Primarch hardbacks, 30K series hardbacks, etc

that's a shame. At that time I Didn't get those OH well, may go searching on ebay.

Thank you

In terms of publication formats: the large A4 type hardcovers will generally receive trade paperback releases anywhere from six months to a year after the hardcovers release.

The smaller format hardcovers (like the Primarch series and character novels a la Celestine and Helbrecht) do not receive paperback versions. Once the hardcovers are gone that's it.

On one hand, hey, I might finally soothe my one regret of never buying Archaon on Dhorgar, the way he was supposed to look. One of the first models that awed me when I got into WHFB during the Storm of Chaos, but somehow never made it home. So made to order Archaon is a big yes for me, pending pricetag.

On the other hand... What are you doin' again, BL?

Replying to DarkChaplain and the long term lot that posts here, Failing mate. I have some pressing professional concerns about any sort of operating future for GW subsidiaries. I'm an accountant btw and all the alarm bells of a failing business are going off in my head.  The same alarm bells that would go off during a post mortem audit on a company I would be farmed out to do for example.  We can get a speculative thread going to discuss this as well with a mod pointing the way to the right sub etc.

I for one would be interested to see this thread.
