Excited for some suprise releases.

Also, is there the possibilty to get a Black Library Weekender next year?

To my knowledge, there are already similiar events again. Would be a pleasure to particapte in that one.

Here I am, tuning in, to see not a book on stream, but a miniature. Figures.

But hey, it's Messinius, the White Consul from Dawn of Fire! Too bad the blokes on stream have no bloody idea who he is, or his fluff. It's clear that they have not read any of the books involved. They're just reading the cliffnotes handed to them.

Kinda frustrating how much time is just the hosts spouting their thoughts. I’m here to find out about books, not to listen to surface level speculation from people who aren’t exactly up to date on BL.

Andy Clark doing another Gloomspite novel, woohoo! Bad Loon Rising "supervillains, ridiculously over-the-top characters" and mayhem. Sounds fun.

Dan Abnett interview summary here:

I'm fine with Nick Kyme doing the next Dawn of Fire novel. He's the series editor along with Haley's showrunning anyway, he knows the beats they're going for.... and so far, we've had a big lack of Cato Sicarius. Like it or not, Kyme is the Sicarius guy.

I've been waiting for him to enter the stage of Dawn of Fire from the outset - and I expect DoF 5 to connect to Knights of Macragge, getting Sicarius from that novel (having gone missing after the Terran Crusade, on the way back to Ultramar with a bunch of Primaris) to where he is as Guilliman's honour guard in Dark Imperium, having gone through hell.

Bad Loon Rising. That name alone is tempting me to read it.

First Founding seems like a instant buy for me. I love those source books they been doing recently. But good lord, a book about first Founding chapters you slap a primaris helmet on the cover!?

And holy :cuss:! The Cypher audio drama lives on! As a novel!

Same here. The nice thing is that it's not actually a direct sequel to Clark's Gloomspite. Also, it's got a derpy troll on its cover, which is fun!

New artbook / lore hardback, "First Founding", with a Primaris Lieutenant helmet on the cover. About the 9 loyalist Legions/Chapters. 30 illustrations, 9 of them double-page spreads, a bunch of new illustrations. Coming February for BL Celeb. The studio blokes don't know if there'll be a traitor version, though, obviously.

John French's Cypher audio drama box set is no more. It's a novel now, in the characters series. "Cypher is probably The Best Character", he says. It's about what happens with Cypher on Terra, with him loose in the Palace by the time the Rift opens.

Lots of talk about Cypher being an engima. "Keeping the mystery of Cypher was one of the biggest challenges of the entire book". "A book of lies and secrets". Cypher narrates it. "You shouldn't ask for the truth". Right in the 41st Millennium, just before the Great Rift opens. Cypher helps Guilliman getting to Terra, then imprisoned "very, very briefly". Warpstorms happen, Cypher escapes from the Custodes. What happens and how is what the book is.

Continuity and consistency is important. He went back to Codex: Chaos 2nd Edition, Cypher's origins. Cypher as "agent of strife", things "go wrong around him". That's the core of the story and character. "Not necessarily an agent of Chaos, not an agent of good", "things will occur when he is around".

"The fact that it's Cypher telling the story automatically gives you an insight that you weren't expecting" "is he gonna lie, is he going to tell you something important?" "Being chased by Custodians and Dark Angels through the Palace, people will want to read that"

Super excited!

....lol, they're already coming to the end of the preview. After 3 new announcements.

Kyme roundup for 2023:

Blightslayer, new Gotrek by Richard Strachan. New companion, Warrior Priestess. Still no Felix.

Creed: Ashes of Cadia, Jude Reid. First novel by her, and yeah, it's about Ursula Creed. She goes back to Cadia to search for some of Ursakar's battleplans that might still remain back home. Funnily enough, the cover makes Ursula Creed look just as ugly as the mini!

The Last Volari by Gary Kloster, Soulblight novel. Explains why this advent has 2 Volari shorts. Looks to be the next upcoming AoS Character they want to build up.

Pilgrims of Fire by Justin D Hill, Order of the Martyred Lady.

Word Bearers Trilogy and ADB's Armageddon Limited Editions, also new Siege of Terra maps.

Chat isn't having it. Lots of cynicism, people asking for the Blockbusters they were promised, calling GW clowns and so forth. Not amused about the lack of World Eaters content, or Black Legion, or basically anything they were hoping for.

I mean, they're spending more time talking about the limited editions of books that have been around for a decade (with plenty of reissues, omnibus editions and so forth) and the maps than, y'know, the novels....

Not a single Horror or Crime announcement either. Pretty silly. If there's not a big final reveal to sign off on, I'll be annoyed.

THEY'VE RUN A LITTLE BIT OVER TIME?!?!?!??!?!? HOW?!

So was the Sister of silence preview preview just a straight line or did I miss something?

There's a SoS on the 5th Dawn of Fire cover. That's it.

If they would stop waffling for so God damn long about nothing, maybe, just maybe , they would have more time to show more books!? Oh but I forget it's BL we're talking about. There's probably nothing else ready yet... Or the "intern" is on holiday again so he didn't have the time to make more slides.
Another reveals stream, another disappointment. Could have just made post on the community site and be done with it. What a waste of everyone's time...

That was really poor; and Alex should've had a lot more reheasals before doing the hosting as the whole thing was so awkard and stilted, especially the end. Based on cover for the End and the Death Vol 2, I'm now wondering if there'll be a Vol 3 - surely you need the Emperor on it. Cypher is good news, but sounds like definite death-knell to anymore audio dramas unfortunately. with his 4CD outing clear binned.

A lot of hype for a relatively modest preview. Given the weekly war com announcements they’re doing it’s not surprising they kept this small. Seems like mostly stuff for the celebration/the next couple months.

The End and the Death is going to be incredible I’m sure, but it’s hard to get hyped about something that was announced months ago.

Cypher’s going to be awesome. I had a feeling BL would repurpose the audio drama.

The AOS stuff sounds fun, especially Bad Loon Rising (I am a big CCR fan though). Richard Strachan is fast becoming the Guy Haley of AOS - 4 novels released in less than a year.

The Ursula Creed and Sisters of Battle novels should be fun. Hill’s pretty consistently good and Reid seems to be very talented from her short stories.

Nick Kyme on DoF is a crushing disappointment. His space marine writing is pretty consistently atrocious.

Well, they once were better at that.

There's nothing mindblowing here which we didn't expected or straight up knew already.

Most interesting stuff on 40k side:

First Founding, though I'm doubting that it'll be adding new stuff But rather summing stuff up which we already had in codices, etc.

Yes, some fancy new LEs which only 10% will be able to get their hands on.

Cypher - Insta buy for me

DoF 5

Thanks and see ya next "preview" :/

The article includes more that they ridiculously didn't cover in the preview, not new stuff persay but FYI:

- Skarsnik and Macharian Crusade being the PB reprint winners

- Angel of Darkness getting the 20th anniversary treatment

- five story free Celebration PB, no doubt none new
