Naryn
That classic dreadnought is my favorite sculpt ever, and you absolutely did it justice. That pink plasma is so good. Firedrake Cordova and Trysanna 1 1 Back to top

Always fun to see old models, too As you say, there's something about the aesthetics of the Noise Marine ... it's very much harkening to an era of "glam rock" with the crest and pose. Sorry to hear about your problems - hope things get better soon I'm still holding out hope that when the Emperor's Children get their revamp, we see a whole squad with that sort of vibe. I want some Marine with a keytar and everything! I've had a silly idea to do a whole squad of them plus a Rhino with a razorback style drummer/sonic weapon. Maybe one day.... I'm still super happy I was even able to get my hands on one and not have to pay for it with a kidney, though assembling it took quite a bit of effort. Big metal models are such a pain. You'll have to show me whenever you get around to it! Always happy to inspire people with my work. ------ Happy belated Halloween everyone! I hope you all had plenty of tricks and treats. I managed to finish off a few models, and am currently working on another classic. Let's start it off with one of those Warhammer+ models. Azrakh the Annihilator This might be one of my favourite models I've painted yet. It was an absolute blast working on a mini based off of one of my favourite pieces of Warhammer art. I took a few artistic liberties, adding some verdigris to the trim and changing the Khorne icons to gold, which helps them stand out better. I may pick up another box of Chaos Terminators and give him some friends to hang out with, but that will have to be a future project. ------ Cult of the Red Angel, led by Varrus Can't have a Night Lords army without Raptors, can we? This lovely Heretics were converted using the new Chaos Marines with the current Raptor Jump Packs attached to the backs. which required some cutting and gap filling. I went with the updated Marines as I really like how big and bulky they are. They are Khorne aligned, hence some having the Butchers Nails and the Champion carrying a red Chainaxe. I didn't want to go too overboard with it though, so they still look the part of Night Lords. I'm incredibly happy with the Champion, I love the pose and weapons, and the head just makes the whole model for me. I plan on expanding the squad to 10-strong at some point, but I'm currently working on the old Chaos Daemon Prince from the 3.5 dex, which thankfully I managed to get in finecast. While there are a few bubbles to deal with, it's not nearly as bad as I remember it being, so I hope to have them all built by the weekend. Enjoy your candy, heretics! Firedrake Cordova
Fine work I almost collected a Night Lords army around 2003, so have a big soft-spot for them, and love seeing examples of them Trysanna 1 Back to top
Trysanna
I spent most of November working on some Lizardmen, which I obviously can't show off here, tho I will say that if you're looking for some good Dinos for some Exodites the new Aggradons are beautiful, I did manage to start and finish the classic Chaos Marine Daemon Prince between playing Boltgun and excitedly waiting for Godzilla Minus One. While I was tempted to paint them up as a Night Lord, I decided to go with something inspired by the paint job they had in my old 3.5 codex with a couple changes. For one, I decided to give them a fiery sword, which helps tie them into the Objective Markers I made for the army and any other Power Weapons I might do in the future, as well as Kharns Plasma Pistol. I also added a touch of Blood For The Blood God to their bone protrusions, which gives them a wet, bloody look which I'm quite happy with. Overall it's a wonderful model and I'm so happy to have it in my collection. Pearson73
Fantastic work on the Daemon Prince, nailed that classic paint job, the hazard striped cables really seal the deal. The OSL on the Warhammer+ model is also very well done, and doesn't distract from the main model. Really digging your Night Lords too, I must remember to keep coming back and checking this log! Trysanna
Glad you all liked the Daemon Prince, I appreciate the kind words. I've been mostly working on more Lizardmen, this time a Slaan Mage Priest. It's a big model and took a lot of time, so I haven't been working on much 40k stuff. I did, however, quickly paint up the classic Abaddon the Despoiler. It's still a great model and holds up, even if he is quite tiny compared to the modern scale. I made sure to pin him to the base, as well as pin his arms to the body. The old metal models can be a bit of a pain in terms of keeping them in one piece. It's not my best work, but considering it only took me 2 or 3 session from start to finish, I'm pretty happy with the result. tinpact, Aeternus, Firedrake Cordova and 6 others 3 6 Back to top

Trysanna
Glad you like how they've been turning out! It's been a lot of fun going back to the old models that I first collected years ago. On that note, I've been building another Berzerker squad, this time made from the old plastic kit. The rest are WIP, but these three are ready for priming. I've made some small adjustments to the positioning of some arms to open up the poses a bit and a small spacer on the wast, but overall I wanted to keep the original look. Honestly I can't wait to paint them, these are great models. Starting to feel like my Night Lords are being outnumbered by World Eaters, so I'll be painting some more Midnight Clad soon. tinpact, Firedrake Cordova, Grotsmasha and 1 other 2 2 Back to top

Trysanna
So I didn't get anything really done hobby wise lately as Nurgle decided to bless me with something awful, tho thankfully I'm feeling much better so hopefully I can do some priming tomorrow. (weather permitting of course) In the mean time, here's a quick look at the full Retro Berzerker squad. I avoided using any of the skull-faced helms, as I'm not super fond of the look. I really like the other head options, so I was happy to use more of those instead. I'm hoping we see the release of the Night Lords kill team soon, as I'd love to finish up my Chaos Lord and maybe add a squad of kit bashed Chosen to the army. Trysanna
-Kaygil Jathea- -Corsair Queen- -Lord of the Crimson Tongue, Gladiatrix, Bride of Eternal Night- -------- For a model I painted up over the course of a day, I'm quite pleased with the result. I tried to go for a visually striking scheme, minimizing the amount of colours and really leaning into the reds. She looks quite nice next to the Night Lords. I'd like to give her a small squad of Eldar friends at some point, but for now I'm happy just to have her finished. Her partner and the Night Lords leader will be built and painted as soon as GW graces us with Kill Team: Nightmare. YannTheMad
It might just be perspectives, but is she taller than the marines ? Love the blood ripples on the base, it give the model a very powerfull look. Firedrake Cordova and Trysanna 2 Back to top
Terminatorinhell
I think she looks taller because the marines are more in a wide legged stance? Trysanna 1 Back to top
Trysanna
Thanks for the kind words, I'm really happy to hear that everyone else is as happy with Kaygil as I am, especially the base. It was a bit of work to sculpt but definitely worth the effort. I'll be working on another Eldar lady soon now that Krethusa is going up for pre-order next week. Very excited about her, but for now I have another Night Lord to show off. I painted this hefty lad over the course of the weekend. He's not my best work, the conversion work isn't up to my current standard, but I'm still kinda pleased to have him finished. -Slave-Knight Tor'vek- -Chaos Terminator Lord- -Iron Hound of Kalixus, Last of the Quintarchy, Curse Bearer- -------- Originally I had this model built as The Chaos Lord of the army, but between the time I had him built and actually working on this army. a few ideas of the warband had changed, as well as what I wanted the warbands leader to be and look like. I didn't want to give the model up entirely, so he got demoted. For those curious, he was built using the old Obliterator legs and a Grey Knight Torso with plenty of sculpting and lots of bitz from various kits, like Cataphtactii shoulders and an arm, an AOS Khorne Lord for the other arm, and Cursed City bats for some flair. Here's a size comparison with a regular Legionary and a Terminator, plus a photo showing off Kaygils height, who manages to stand a bit taller than a Marine, mostly thanks to the way she's walking and her massive hair. While I wait for the lovely Raven to be released, I'll be finally working on some armour for the Night Lords. First off is an old school Vindicator, from 2nd or 3rd edition, I think? I inherited it from a friend, and while I was tempted to give it to some loyalists, I figured my Night Lords could use some heavy support. And finally a classic of any Marine army, the humble Rhino. I've always had a soft spot for these, even if I'm awful at painting vehicles. They're so boxy and sturdy looking, its everything I want from a tank. Of course I added some Nostroman flair to it, with some chains and skulls to break up the large flat panels. Firedrake Cordova
The paintjob on the Terminator is great, and the bats are an interesting addition If I'm being honest, whilst I like the axe, the unarmoured arm holding it is not for me, but that's just me (only you get to decide whether your mini looks good or not). Nice to see the classic Vindicator Trysanna 1 Back to top

Nice to see the classic Vindicator Honestly, I totally agree. I was pretty happy with the model when I built him but coming back to him almost 10 years later I'm sort of eh. Like, he's fine! He works! He's big and chunky and is easily readable as a Terminator Lord. But the model is much rougher than I'd like, the composition is a bit off, and yeah, that exposed arm just isn't working for me. I could have swapped it, but I would have had to redo that whole section but I didn't want to spend hours working on a model I'd already decided was going to be a subservient character and no longer the Warbands leader. Hopefully the actual Lord of the warband impresses you more than this slave-knight Firedrake Cordova 1 Back to top
