++ ROUND 2 ++

++ SECTOR CLEAR ++

GM OOC: The map has been cleared enough to move freely, and Initiative Order is Suspended for this Round. We are still considered to be in Structured time. You don't have to post in order, but do have to post actions as normal (Run, Full Action 24m/Unjam bundook) etc. Use this time to restructure your Order of March Narratively if you wish.

Player Actions: [ ]

Bardas - Consult Asupex and head forwards.

With the initial ambush beaten back the sensible course of acting was to vacate the area, lest more would be drawn to their position. Checking the green glow of the asupex screen blips where drawing alongside them in the minor passageways, another ambush attempt was about to be made on them.

Edited by Trokair

++ ROUND 3 ++

As you all plough on down the passageway, out of the murk a huge dual leaf door bars your way. The floor and walls abutting the behemoth are striped with scuffed and scraped hazard lozenges, and as you close with it, you can see the door is a plascrete and adamantium brick, pitted with age and the scorched divots from weapon impact spalls.

Next to the door is a control terminal. Power emanates in eerie green glow, and the cogitator bank within hums gently in standby.

The Auspex detects multiple clusters of heat signatures streaming down the corridors, emerging from vents behind to the side and afore of your caravan.

GM: You'll notice the map has been updated with the new identifiers. Queries in the OOC if you have them. I just thought I'd move us on a bit as July is maturing...

Otherwise:

Restal [ ]

Edited by Mazer Rackham

Reynard:

It was over sooner than he had thought. The aberrants' numbers were insufficient to overcome the Acolytes and Arbites' firepower. Now they would flee, utterly cowed - the only way they would come back would be if they had even greater numbers waiting…

Reynard hurried on, moving at swift walk. It took only a few minutes to reach the end of the tunnel, the access panel clearly visible. Then the auspex started to ping, again and again, with increasing rapidity, picking up movement in the darkness around them.

"Bardas…? Get the door?"

Kerr Restal:

He moved diagonally right to the corner and fired at the Mutants in the right corridor.

Bardas had shouted that there was a lot of targets coming from the corridor.

A mirror of the previous combat, one shot missed. He would check the emitter's later.

BS 40 +10 (Close Range) -10 (Two-Weapon Fighting + Ambidextrous) = 40. Result: 39, Pass 0DoS

#1. 9 +3 +2 = 14 Damage.

Scourge:

More mutants, more malformed scum. Scourge's lip curled in disgust at their wretched shapes as he drew Hywelesbane, letting his boltgun drop to hang on its strap. His revulsion was overcome by a sudden desire to mangle their hideous flesh and re-assert the dominance of pure-bred humans in this long forgotten stretch of Damocles. As Restal fired a fusillade into the northern corridor, Scourge barreled past him into the opposing side passage with a gutteral shout of fury, the luminescent warhammer casting forth its menacing glory into the gloom.

"Burn in the Emperor's Light!"

Full action: charge horde #3

OOC: by my reckoning, Scourge looks to be within his 15m charge range of mutant horde #3. Feel free to correct/punish as needed.

WS: 41 + 10 (charge) + 10 (master-crafted) = 61

Hit #2: 6 + 4 + 5 = 15E damage, Pen 10

Hit #3: 9 + 4 +5 = 18E damage, Pen 10

ROUND 3 CONTINUES

GM: @Necronaut Red 3 has been annihilated by MG/Restal. Since you're within range for a charge, I'll redirect you into Grey 4.

The clean light of the purified maul cuts through the gloom as the Sanctified weapon is unsheathed. Carrying the Emperor's light into the darkness, Scourge's heavy blows mangle, crush and thunder with force, pulverising and driving to the deck the mutants before it.

Grey 4 (3 Mag Dam) Break Test: FAIL - must flee.

Bardas [ ]

Bardas

+I see it, keep me covered Fox-Kin+

Time to test his new legs in a full pelt run. The door not only barred their passage, but they could all too easy get trapped against it. Light footed he danced passed the voidsman and his las barrage down another side passage.

Spoiler

Run up to 24m towards terminal - looking at map should be plenty

Edited by Trokair

Reynard:

Scourge's headlong charge might have come as a surprise to the mutant dregs, but Reynard had the benefit of knowing the man for a few days. Undeniably effective, though. He shielded his eyes from the zealot's monstrous hammer and followed Bardas up past Restal.

As he did, Reynard could see that the voider had downed the closest freaks to the right, but as he passed he caught a glimpse of more of them massing at the bend in the tunnel. He yelled to the nearest Arbites squad leader and gestured with his right hand.

"Overwatch on this tunnel, please Sergeant!"

Spoiler

Full Move 10m East.
Command Test to Arbites 1: Fel45/2 +10 = 33, Roll: 50, Fail with 1DoF

OOC: Ho hum… not going to use a FP on that, will just hope that the Sgt isn't a total idiot…

ROUND 3 CONTINUES:

The Sergeant looks nonplussed at Reynard's waved direction, perhaps not hearing you over the din, and goes back to getting his officers ready for the multi-directional assault.

Nicios [ ]

Edited by Mazer Rackham
Tidy up

Nicios

Nicios moves back to the covering Arbites squads, 3 and 4. A group of mutants were charging from the rear, focused on the lawmen. Nicios pulled deep from the Warp and threw more nightmares into the world.

Spoiler

Half Action - Move

Half Action - Manifest Pyschic Power (Terrify) at orange 5 mutants

Threshold - 13

Result = Pass. 5 targets take a Willpower test, if failed roll on the Shock table (at +10). No pyschic phenomena (no 9s rolled).

ROUND 3 CONTINUES:

The horrors of the depth of mania, the clawing screeching inside the skull projected out into the aether.

The mob of ravenous mutants turn on each other once more, screaming and clawing their erstwhile friends' faces off - or what passes for faces in the sloughing flesh and dripping eye sockets. This time, two of them fight over some kind of improvised device. It explodes, tearing the others to pieces, even as they dash each other's brains against the walls and floor.

Falk: [ ]

Falk

"Be ready for whatever is on the other side of that door", the mutants had drawn all the attention but one path was unguarded. Firing off a shot at the closest of the dregs he made way for the overwatching arbites and started towards Bardas.

The shadows and echoing sounds made it impossible to count the attackers. So far it seemed only a few scavengers but the angles of approach suggested that they had drawn the attention of not one pack but the entire sector.

Half action shoot

46 vs BS 44+10 range = single hit, Damage minimum 10

Half action move east

Free action awareness (general assessment) 81 - fail by one DoS

ROUND 3 ENDS

Falk's quick shot fells a bestial creature from the black depths as he runs on.

GM: I don't think Nicios was injured by the musket ball, but Scourge should roll his AoO as soon as possible please.

Scourge:

Gore and viscera splattered Scourge's visor and gauntlets as he set about his grisly work, bringing the great maul down again and again upon the misshapen subhumans, cracking bones and bludgeoning their twisted forms into oblivion. One of the mutants yet survived his belligerent charge and shrank back in terror from the light-bearing madman, whose every movement brought death, but too late. Disgusted by such cowardice, Scourge lunged forward to end the mutant's miserable existence, Hywelesbane flashing with brilliant fury.

ROUND 4 CONTINUES:

Pulped into atomantically regurgitated paste, the horrifically mutated imbecile is smeared liberally over the corridor with a satisfying squelch, and pulverising thwack.

Hywelsbane erupts in holy fire, shining a blistering, painful light into every nook and cranny of the benighted gloom!

GM: All Players without protective equipment must test for Stunning, whether they're looking at it or not, such is the blinding magnificence of the Emperor's Undying, Contemptuous Wrath.

Restal [ ]

Kerr Restal:

His targets fell to his las fire. Sensing more to come he held the same point of aim.

Scourge thundered past and obliterated some more wretches, his mace flared with holy fire. Kerr Restal was thankful that his newly acquired photo-contacts dissipated the blinding light.

Scourge then thundered back past like an ironclad zealot to attack some more mutants.

Around the corner came another knot of wretched mutants, right into his kill zone.

Toughness Test vs Stunning: 41

Stunning Test: 1d100 100: critical failure; 5 DoS+

Bardas

T: 43, D100: 19

As he stood over the door control terminal, taking in the worn labels and layout his world is suddenly plunged into darkness. His goggles had cut out, his first thought was that the Golem had detonated the stack as with the other Hives, but even as he finished the though he knew it was not the case by the mere fact he was still thinking, it had merle been a ultra bright flash and the safeties had cut in. Vision came back, first in monochrome, then full colour as the goggles rebooted out of safety mode.

ROUND 4 CONTINUES:

Restal's guns do more trade, exchanging lasbolts for lives. Given the kills, the ammo might be more valuable.

Grey 4 (GM OOC: It's actually lilac, but wow, is that washed out) is eliminated.

Scourge:

GM: What the Master of Mankind Bestoweth, he Retaketh. Consider the 14th Rote of Admonition: his mighty hand helps those which help unto themselves.

You are Stunned, and (Temporarily) Blind, for 1D5 Hours. You cannot see, and now must rely on your faith. You may only make Perception Tests using Awareness (Hearing), Awareness (Touch), Awareness (Smell) or Awareness (Taste). You also have a 'blinding' headache.

Bardas [Include in Placeholder]:

Regarding the console, you have a few moments to discern the eloquence of the encryption keeping you out.

Accessing the functions of the door will require:

  • An Arduous (-40) Security Test, or;
  • A Very Hard (-30) Tech Use Test.

This will be an Extended Test. I will provide further instructions per Turn. If you are removed from the Terminal by force, or go Unconscious, progress will be lost. If you physically link with the Machine, you will not lose progress from stunning (you can still be physically stunned, but your connection remains). Further, I will reduce the Difficulty by one Step (-40 becomes -30 etc) - but who knows what else is in there with you....

Reynard [ ]

Bardas stuff

Nicios

Nicios staggers from the bullet that slams into his left arm. A blinding light fills the area as the holy hammer is unleashed, but the rays of the Emperor's Wrath merely fill the psyker with courage and fury.

Spoiler

Damage taken - 7 -2 (armor) = 5, 12/17 health

Toughness Test

Target - 31

Roll - 04

Result = Pass, 2 DoS

Reynard:

Spoiler

Toughness Test: T30, Roll: 100!

OOC: Ho hum again… I think that might be my first 100 of the game? Will definitely use a FP, really don't want to get blinded… and can't get a worse result, right? :wallbash:

FP Reroll: 28, Pass! (Oof, that would have failed again if not for the extra Characteristic boosts we got!)

Reynard just barely got his arms over his eyes in time, as the mutant simply exploded in a blazing white flash of pure light. Scourge staggered back, blinded.

Perfect. The damn thing's going to do us more harm than it does the bad guys...

Arm still held up protectively over his brow, Reynard moved across to stand beside Bardas, looking at the door. He didn't know much about tech, but he did know breaking and entering.

Spoiler

OOC: Question - Reynard has Security 50, plus has a Multikey for +30. With an Assist from Falk, that gets us to a target number of 50, even after the -40. Can we also work on the door?
