Issue 17: BEFORE/AFTER

The star port in Hive Gamonyr was not just for the military arm of the Imperium but also a hub for vast amounts of food and other essential supplies heading on and off world.  As such is was controlled in large part by the trading cartels that had established a foot hold on Iximia.  Anyone wanting to travel or ship anything too or from the world would need to deal in vast layers of Imperial bureaucracy, political and criminal corruption as well as oft times engage in shady dealing with the trading cartels themselves.  It was perhaps because of this, or maybe in spite of, that when the Imperial command attempted to second the facility to use as a strong point for the defence they were met with set back after set back.  Indeed it wasn't until the arrival of astartes forces that the port could truly be considered under Imperial command.

The arrival of the Interdictors forces at the space port, while slow at first, soon tipped the balance of control to Imperial command.  This control was further established by the arrival of Reclusiarch Thandasar whom, upon being ambushed by a delegation of the Von-Eskarte trading cartel with a vast amount of objections to the chapters use of his private docking ports the Reclusiarch simply dismissed the delegates with a wave of his hand before ordering more supplies unloaded there.  Further outcry was silenced when Thandasar shot dead the delegate upon his next insistence that the marines would have to pay hire of their facilities.

Issue 18: BEFORE/AFTER

The Alwhat Dynasty, like many dynasties of the Necrontyr, are a only recently awakening Dynasty.  Like many such in their position it is not uncommon to see a large number of Canoptek constructs, such as Spyders and Scarabs, accompanying their forces.  Just as common are to see the technicians and mystics of the necrontyr race, those whom shepherd the Canoptek machines; the Crypteks.  Many Imperial forces on the surface of Iximia reported contact with these techno-mystics.  What perhaps was out of the ordinary is that the Crypteks encountered were more often then not seemingly not interested in the conflict around them but rather avoiding the battle all together.  Upon discovery the Crypteks often would disappear with whatever forces they had accompanying them.  It was a trend that troubled Imperial command.  And with good reason, as they would later discover.

Ahtum-Ahten was a senior adviser to Overlord Kanuhm-Hahtet as well the Phaeron.  Maintaining the deathless legions as they swept through the war torn ruins of Iximia fell mostly to him and his fellow technomancer underlings.  Unlike many of his fellow members of the royal courts of the Almwat Dynasty Ahtum-Ahten has no delusions of his own grandeur.  He is happy to serve the Third Son of the Phaeron with whatever task given.  It is a thankless role but he knows that at its heart the Alwat forces would soon come to standstill without his ministrations.  His only true hate is that he must serve under the mysterious Cryptek known only as The Architect.

Issue 19: BEFORE/AFTER

Supplies soon became an issue for the ground forces of the Imperium.  Even with the space port under Imperial control the flow of supplies to the surface was far out stripped by the needs of those trying to hold back the xenos threat on the ground.  Medical supplies and munitions were a primary concern.  With the worlds factorums shut down or in ruins and the number of wounded growing by the day soon scout parties of the Astra Militarum and, occasionally, the Interdictrors or other Imperial forces were sent out to scavenge what they could amoungst the blasted ruins.

Soon even small caches of vital medical supplies or munitions became hotly contested strong points.  Imperial forces would dig in whilst the Necrons knew that to cut their enemies off from such vital supplies the war would be won in no time at all.  When the defenders couldn't be driven back often times the necrontyr would instead opt to simply obliterate the site instead.  The undying legions had no needs for the supplies of the weak filth of those bound to the flesh.
