One small vehicle, a converted all terrain farm vehicle by the looks of it, similar to the truck that Colm and his friends had been in. The glare of the sun of the windshield hides how many passangers it has, but at least one figure is visible, standing no doubt whit his upper torso emerging from a roof hatch. Behind it came a larger vehicle, a cargo hauler, but instead of the standard large scale crate one would expect to see on the rear platform it has been adapted. Reinforced side plating, extra supplies strapped on and a tarpaulin canvas make shift cover providing shelter over the central space. During Round 0 each play may make a free Ordinary (+10) Awareness Test to see if they can discern any additional details about the two vehicles and its occupants. Varn, Helen and Aria may instead take a Challenging (+0) Perception Test to see if they spot a specific detail relevant to them personally. During round 0 you will count as having concealment should you do anything that triggers an Awareness test from anybody in the two approaching vehicles. You can take any normal actions aside from attacks (and anything that results in an attack). So for example you could use movement actions to reposition yourself, you could prepare your weapon with a Aim, try to gather details on the approaching vehicles with a relevant skill use (as a full action – this is separate from the free awareness/perception mentioned above). You each have the equivalent of two full actions or four half actions (or relevant combination thereof) during round 0. You don't have to act in Initiative order at this time. Posted January 2 Share Posted January 2 Aria As the vehicles approached Arias focus was on concealment, using the undulations of the ground to put as much material between herself and the vehicles as possible as she lay low and sighted her rifle. While the silencer on her weapon merely muffled the sound of the shot at this distance it should more than suffice to obscure her position, especially once the heavy stubber on David opened fire. Even now he was turning round to look uphill. As he does, for that split second he is profile he strikes you as familiar, a face from your youth. Bandits = ?? Map The enemy counts as surprised, so have no actions round 1. The exception to this is the individual Varn recognized, marked in Dark Red. He was specifically on look out and gets the chance to test awareness in response to some player actions, if he becomes aware before his turn he can act normally, if he becomes aware after his turn would have been he can make a half action instead. Secondly due to the trees in the middle Ravia cannot see the large vehicle clearly, and Aria and Helen cannot see the truck clearly. You may still choose to shoot at these targets respectively (as Aria and Ravia have taken full aim in readiness) but there will be a Very Hard (-30) modifier to hit to account for shooting though trees. Though it would at least forestall a response. The driver of the second vehicle however presented a clean target and no more appeared behind him... Aria pulled the trigger, even at this distance it was barely possible to miss. However he is interrupted as a las pulse strikes him on the arm and he is forced into the cover of the vehicle. While his fellows had hopped out of the vehicle as ordered he went scrambling for the first aid kit, whatever had hit them and tore into the side of the truck had caught him viciously in the arm. Finding it he gobbled a few painkiller pills, wishing they would kick in quicker. He was just setting out the bandage and dressing kit when the punch to the gut came, preceded fractionally by the pop of part of the side of the truck giving way. With half a prayer on his lips he toppled sideways out of truck. Four figures scramble out of a side door and run and slide down the slope and just as quickly disappearing from your sight into the hollow and behind the rocks there. Taking up his rifle and trying to compensate for the motion of the truck he focused on the boulder outcrops to the east, no this one, ah, that one further back. If you fail your Dodge roll by 2DoF or less then you still manage to get partially behind cover and the boulder will provide 8 points of armour. Bandits I,J,K,L Spoiler I and J exit vehicle in cover behind it and ready weapon, K is stunned and L is checking on K and M,N Two Bandits, carrying a crate between them, jump out of the crashed cargo hauler and take cover behind it. Inside their friend rushes to help those that had been knocked about by the sudden stop. Bandits B,C,D Spoiler D moves down slope to join E,F,G,H in cover C and B FAB at Varn BS:35 +20 (FAB) – 10(target obscured) = 45 C, D100:55 Miss B, D100:86 Miss One figure slides and stumbles down slope to join his friends in cover while the other two open up into the tree were they had seen muzzle flashes, shredding leaves and lesser branches enmass. Ariel Spoiler Tactical Maneuvering, 1 Tactical speed, move 12m With their position revealed Ariel saw little point sitting still, instead slowly pushing David forward so that they could get a better sight on the bandits. Bandits M,N,O,P Spoiler O- FAB at Kazimir P Ready weapon. BS:35 +20 (FAB) – 10(target obscured) = 45 O, D100:43 Hit, 0 DoS Location 34: Body, covered by David in sufficient damage to take SP of David. Inside the converted cargo hauler one bandit flips open a crate stowed by his feet and grabs its contents while another bandit leaned out and let his autogun rip in the direction of their ambushers. J and I are out of sight for everybody. C and B are obscured (-10 to hit) for Aria and C is obscured (=10 to hit) for Ravia. Truck and Dark Red are out of line of sight of Kazimir and Arieel and obscured (-10 to hit) for Aria and Varn. Helene – C and B can be charged, but it is a uphill charge so -5 to hit for your melee attack if you go that way (representing the extra effort to charge uphill). E and D are also in charge range (even though they are further away) as they are downhill from you, the down slop gives you the extra range on your charge). As all four of these will activate before you note that they may move out of yoru charge range from what is stated here, I’ll try to say when if this happens. Also note that if you go after E and D you will be at the bottom of a step slop in respect of the vehicle and preacher. Varn, if you climb a tree (half action Ordinary +10) you will be high enough to see D,E,F,Gand H but they would still be obscured (-10 to hit) and/or behind cover. Questions let me know in OOC. While he represented a valuable target his retreat might draw more away than his death. But they would have to advance quickly or their targets would use the shelter to regroup. (Scale question - how far can Arias run of 24 get her?)
