Well done on the bikes, they’re a bit of a grind to paint then I gather?!?… well in the numbers you have I’m guessing it is , looking forward to some more foot sloggers !

cheers, M

Thank you! Yes the bikes take much longer than other units. They have a deceptive amount of parts and detail, and you can spend hours and not see a whole lot of difference until they are nearly finished. However, the models themselves have grown on me since my initial reaction to them as gremlin-piloted street sweepers!

Well, friends, with the latest points and Index for Votann, it is time for me to admit defeat. I can no longer play my Dwarves and so here is a picture of my latest project, a completed set of D-Cannons for my new Eldar force:

With 10th Edition, Votann got a few tiny, minor changes, so I pivoted with my painting queue. First up - mo' Kahls, less problems. My kitbash of the anniversary mini, the High Kahl himself, Mr. Fist Rockbone:

And since we pay for equipment now whether we use it or not, some special weapons and gear for the Warriors (plus a bonus dude, because painting less than 5 models felt weird):

Update time! Took some of the fellas out for a spin recently:

Spoiler

If some of the unit sizes look odd, that is because these guys were moonlighting as Dwarf Guilds from One Page Rules' Grimdark Future.

Some close-up shots of the units:

Very impressed with how cool these models actually look in person. The exo-suits definitely work!

Up next - maybe finally completing my half-painted land fort, maybe something else. Lots to pick from in the queue right now, so we will see!

Good to see you're still at em ,  The army looks great all together!!  i notice you dont drill barrels but do the black spot technique ..time saver or you don't want to drill out a tiny barrel very very carefully, in the hope you don't wreck the barrel or prick your thumb with the drill bit (all of which i have done )

I always nearly get the urge to start a LoV army when i see your force on a table or some close ups... luckily money is the deciding factor ( I'd have too much to do if I did start them anyway!!.)

great work if I didn't mention it already

Cheers, M

Food is definitely part of the deal!

The pics are from my FLGS. From the outside, it looks like a couple of little barns in the woods. Once you get inside it, they have a ton of gaming tables fully stocked with terrain painted by the owner and employees, and a huge selection of just about any major miniatures game and paint range. Great place!

Any tips for assembly / painting to share? Hoping it's at least a relatively simple build?

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

Thank you! The only thing that could be a problem with assembly is the side panels and top panels may have small gaps where they go together. I used some Testors gap filler there and it was no problem.

For painting, I left off the top turret and magnetized the gun, which made it a lot easier to get to everything. Otherwise, if I was doing it again I would leave off the roll bars and stick them on once the rest of the model is painted. Would have made things a little easier.

All in all, great model to assemble and paint!

Thanks for sharing and Congrats on the Hard fought win!!

2024 is here, and with the new year come the latest members of our clan:

Spoiler

large.20240111_171418.jpg.27fa1049ed6bbc

As mentioned previously, I have been playing my Dwarves using One Page Rules' Grimdark Future game, and they have a lot more units available in that system. So the forge masters went to work and built some totally-not-Admech bodies for the ironkin! Sci-fi golems, hell yeah!

Here is a size comparison next to their flesh and blood kin:

Spoiler

large.20240113_163322.jpg.f5e7f1b25b11f4

And of course, they got to go out for a spin on the tabletop:

Spoiler

large.20240114_1304522.jpg.bc07fb3bb36dc

And they did exactly what I hoped they would - get stuck in for some rock-em, sock-em robot action!

Spoiler

2024 is off to a great start!

Kastelans really do look more like Votann models than Admech lol. Heck - the scale difference is enough that I can even imagine there's regular-size kyn piloting them. Here's hoping a second wave of releases this edition includes a proppa walker, whether ironkyn or piloted...

As a robot-fancier I hope they do well for you in OPR because they're pretty nonsensical just on points in 40k rn. Would feel alot better at like 80-85 points each, but them's the breaks for now.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

I have wanted a big Ironkin "golem" since the Leagues came out, and after looking at the Kastelans on and off it just kind of clicked.

The Dark Age of Technology vibe that LoV have meshes well with AdMech's "older" stuff. Can definitely see the same design ideas behind both.

Final Sagitaur complete!

Spoiler

large.20240123_1848002.jpg.aeb47ee392365

Now, I hear you. "These Kroot, robots, and vehicles are great, and whoever posted them is awesome!" And I agree with all of that. "But where are the dwarves??"

Well, here you go:

Spoiler

large.20240128_101845.jpg.85e46413148039

This is too good of a model not to include him in the kin somehow. Original plan was to convert this guy to be more "sci-fi" with some LoV bits, but it turns out the model is very monopose and the scale is slightly different than LoV.

So, we let the color scheme do the converting for us, and I am very happy with the way he turned out. Maybe he will join the berserkers, bringing the Ancestors' wrath to any who dare to circumvent safety regulations and industrial production standards.

No games this weekend - that's all for now. Thanks for looking!

Glorious force growth! Nice paintjobs over all. I'm especially glad to see the additions of Kroot mercenaries and robots to the army. Nice touch!

Hirelings and robots rhyme well with space Dwarfs. We've got the money and we've got the technology!

Lovely rules lawyer as well. Where can one find this miniature in store?
