Hullo to all Unforgiven,

 

after a long pause from 40k since i guess 7th Edition, i took the challenge to get my first Primaris-Marines done.

To be honest, i wasnt really fond of the backround and the not really convincing storyline for this whole Ultima-Founding and that was the reason why i took a pause from 40k and played other stuff like Horus Heresy and historic tabletop.

 

But seeing the new Azrael and reading a little more into the actual Dark Angel backround again, i thought why not wipe the dust from my Army and get me a box of Bladeguards as a first try.

 

So here they are what i hope is only the beginning, because i had a lot of fun with making Primaris as Grim Dark as possible and in the spirit of my old 5th Company so far.

 

 

 

Even got me an Ancient from Ebay:

 

 

 

So, this is the Squad so far, the heraldic is WIP so far, still unsure what to use for the rest of the squad.

I just finished the last Brother of the Squad and now its time to think about what comes next.

I can try to bring my Firstborn up to date, because without knowledge of what is coming in 2023 i don‘t want to blindly start into Intercessors or what not.

Same goes for rebuilding my Deathwing (which i sold in what seems like a fatal blackout of my brain or something).

Maybe starting with the DA Combat Patrol, but i guess there will be DA Armydeals on the way this year… Decisions, Decisions…

I think they look smashing, you’ve inspired me some. I’ve been tossing up whether to paint my blade guard as Death Wing or Green Wing.  I like you also took a long hiatus. I only played 1 game of 8th edition and within the last 3 months just began playing 9th.  So far I’ve gotten 6 games in I believe. 4 at 25 power and 2 at 50 I believe.  Anyways I have been sitting on the indomitus release box with the Primaris and necron models for years now. I currently have 1 Primaris model assembled and it’s the Dark Angels Primaris Lieutenant Zakariah model.

Only some small modifications, because i like the model and pose still as it is.

So now i try myself on some Primaris Eradicators to hold myself busy with Dark Angels and not wanting to begin Intercessors or else because i wait for more models in robes (at least for my sergeants).

Mission Grim Dark continues and here is the first of the Eradicators. The sergeant allways knows whom to shot and where to go.

 

 

He still needs detail on the muzzle (need to look up a tutorial for the heat effect).

Great looking squads. I love the brown robes. I think you can push your highlights  on your greens and browns one step brighter and still have that awesome grim dark look.

Little question round:

 

1. I wonder how for example the Eradicators fit into the organisation of a Battle Company (thats why mine do not have any markings on their right shoulder pad at the moment).

Are they replacing the Devastator squads i.e. 9th and/or 10th squad?

Same question for the Inceptors, are they supposed to be in the slot for 7th and/or 8th squad?

 

2. With all the rumors about new Terminator Squads coming this year, do you think it is worth to buy one or two Deathwing Squads at the moment?

I know they would be a great addition but is it more worth to wait?

I did it this way, 9th/10th for heavy and 7th/8th for fast attack.

 

It’s also lore appropriate, especially with Primaris, to give them squad numbers higher than 10, as if they were reserves that were re-assigned temporarily to a battle company. I have some intercessors I plan on putting 11 on.

The muzzle effect on the Eradicators is still not done so i sqeezed an Apothecary in between.

 

He is not much converted since i really like the model and the pose itself.

so, i tried myself on the burned muzzle effect and honestly i am pretty happy with it.

I finished the second Eradicator who is wielding the mighty multi melta.

 

By the way, if you think my use of purity seals on the melta weapons is excessive, then you do not know the dicerolling with melta weaponry in my 5th Company. They need all the help they can get.

 

 

 

 

 

And the Sergeant with the melta now also with burned muzzle.

Back to Primaris Infantry.

 

I present you Master Idrael - 5th Company. Of course it is Lazarus, but my 5th was always lead by Captain Idrael who now crossed the Rubicon Primaris.

I based him and his heraldic on some older DA-Artwork from the Company Master, which i always wanted to use (dont know if i could have posted it because of rights).

Guess Dark Angels Players know which Artwork i mean. ;)

Looking at my beloved old Interrogator Chaplain Barakiel in comparison to his brothers i think someone needs to cross the Rubicon Primaris as soon as possible. Too bad that there are no jump pack options for the Primaris Chaplains or a proper Primaris Interrogator Chap. Seems like playing the waiting game... :/

 

 

I still haven`t played a single game of 9th Edition because of my long hiatus of 40k, but i think he would still perform in his Firstborn state. He never let me down in the past. :)
