Bit of a surprise announcement - another Astra Militarum novel is always appreciated.

Always interesting to see a novel from one of the new breed of writers.  The excerpt on WC read okay so will give it a go.

So we’ve had tank focused novels, Catachan novels, a Primaris psyker novel, and plenty of commissars. Now we have a sniper novel, and it isn’t Ratlings?!!!?

GW takes away the sniper support squad then immediately releases a novel about one. This doesn't hurt me a little at all.

The Wraithbone Phoenix goes heavy on those if that’s what you’re after. It’s excellent.

The author also had a short story about Cadian snipers in the recent advent calendar, which I suspect may tie into this. The story name was Transplants, not too bad, decently long for a short story.

The footnote to the WarCom article links to this short story in fact, stating "starring a trio of very different Cadian sharpshooters" so sounds separate rather than tie-in / recurring character(s).

Not read it yet, so obviously may be very wrong, but I got the impression that these sharp-shooters are different to each other in terms of background and the like rather than not featuring in the novel

This is correct. The Black Library page for Transplants mentions "a trio of Cadian snipers from different backgrounds."
