For the sake of a head swap they could very easily make it a dual Lt/Cpt kit

Terminator Ancients mention Terminator Lieutenants in their datasheet, and that doesn't quite work for Battle Leaders in Terminator Armor, so this is plausible.

How much longer you will need to wait may be tipped off by whether or not they include Lucius and Noise Marines in the 10th ed CSM codex which is coming Q4 2023, if I remember right. That said, given the need to update all current books, you’ll most likely be waiting until 11th edition.

Emperor's Children will be out before the end of 10th...Probably literally. Fulgrim will be out in the 10th edition life cycle. We have precedent with the other demon Primarchs. Will be interesting to see who they bring back in 11th

Good.

I was beginning to worry SM wouldn’t get half the 40k releases this year

Perish the thought! I, for one, am looking forward with bated breath for the new Phobos Interagressor Strike Force Consantinus (R) box set. Consume Space Marines. Get excited for next Space Marines.

I am glad between the current terminator refresh and next year's alleged DA refresh there will be a lot of classic models getting glow ups as opposed to more random book padders.

Easy solution, must buy multiple boxes.

That will no be necessary. The index are the 10th rules for 9th edition units. 10th units would not be the same as the 9th units. So maybe there is no primaris scouts with sniper rifles in the next space marine codex

I'm hearing in the KT box they only have 1 Sniper option though :O

I'm geussing a regular scout sprue with kill team upgrade sprue as per usual and second release of sniper scouts with cloaks, missle luancher. Hopefully means the regular boltgun guys will get the option to have one sniper alongside the heavy bolter.

With the Chaos Space Marine codex coming in Spring 2024, I think there is a possibility that Emperor's Children might come out between January-April 2025.

Its a new arc so the Scouts should get a whole revamp, which they badly need, mostly the chins :D

Tbh at this point scouts pass more as clothed Jokaero proxies than a type of space marine, saw a comparison between them and the BT Neophyte a bit ago and actually felt a genuine surge of pity.

New scouts means more than just two alternating neophyte bodies in Crusader squads, which is nice. Will definitely get a couple boxes to fill out Crusader squads.

Primaris scale Jump Pack assault Marines is another thing I'd like to add to my force; with their addition, alongside that of the new terminators and scouts I think my crusade will be more or less complete.

With these and the inevitable multipart terminators (and I'd assume sternguard), it's going to be a pretty packed release schedule.

GW: Everyone gets new models

Translation: Space Marines (loyalists) can expect 5 new units, 3 are just rehashs of a classic and 2 new ones that are ether really cool and loved or...-gestures to desolation squad-. The current xenos of the edition will also get a couple of new units...everyone else can be gratful for not getting squatted, including the new squats...but we suppose we will give each of them a SINGLE new model...maybe...if we feel like it and our interns can kit-bash a new one before lunch.

I've put Skitarii Vanguard helmets on the Scout sculpts and they look great.

I do like the idea of new Scouts, after seeing the BT Initiates. I'm guessing Scouts will have - via Kill Team - a flexible mulitpose sprue that covers off a close range / melee loadout with some specialisms, but that full Scout sniper squads won't get a proper refresh and will eventually be phased out - I can't see them co-existing thematically with Eliminators. The scout overlap with Eliminators/Incursos/Infiltrators could be interesting in an army but I wonder what sort of niche they will carve out?

Personal (completely unsubstantiated and utterly speculative) view is that Phobos was a design choice intended to phase out scouts back when Primaris were first envisaged (before GW found out that Salt has a very high number of attacks, Torrent and, somehow, Blast), and GW backtracked on it - but have maneuvered themselves into a corner a little, in doing so. I think scouts and Phobos can co-exist, but think their role needs a little rethink.

I feel Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs directly undermines more than a few Primaris units. Reivers are pointless anyway, but Assault Intercessors will be as often seen as Firstborn Assault Marines without jump packs.

Still, GW have over saturated Marines recently.

It's not like the space marine range is new to units stepping on other units toes.

I figure maybe the only difference will be a variety of weapon options in the unit. Like Reivers, infiltrators, incursors, eliminators, all in a fruit salad.

Next question is 5 or 10man. If a KT I guess 10man, but that does feel kinda weird for scouts...

Doesn't fit the pattern for kill team season starter boxes though. Every box that launches the season always has two brand new teams. It's the boxes afterwards that's one brand new team and upgrade sprue. Hence the speculation about assault Terminators and genestealers (with the stealers being brand new and the assault termis being the new multipart Terminator kit with sprue)

As for multiple marine units stepping on toes, I think that's part of the reason that each unit now has its own special rule, which I bet we'll see further refinement on.
