Tyranids Norn Emissary / Norn Assimilator

My friend from work plans to buy two of each version. He absolutely loves tyranids. I am going to enjoy seeing his painted models.

The assimilator looks a bit too much like a revisited tyrant and the nipple harpoons make the silhouette look awkward; so I gotta say the emissary is the clear winner, way better looking.

I don't understand what the point of this guys is though... He only stands slightly taller than a wraithlord so it's just a hive tyrant but uglier? Already got like dozens of large elite killing monsters so what's gonna set this guy apart from the rest? Is this the Dimachearon's plastic replacement?

The second one is literally "the Dimachearon, but redesigned slightly in plastic" yeah

I’m not sure how I feel about these yet. I really like them but I’m not sure I love them, although I love a lot of the bits of them. Might need to see 360 or them in person (I like them enough to pick one up so).

It's just a bigger hive tyrant ultimately. It looks great (well, the emissary build does) but I'd have preferred something a bit weirder.

When I first saw the pic with the Wraithlord, I thought it was a Wraithknight, and THAT would have been cool :cuss:.

 

I like both builds of the model, but as others have said it seems we already have enough units that fufill similar roles. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if these had been knight sized sculpts? 

 

That would have been awesome.

Kills vehicles and enemy characters, whereas the Emissary kills Elites.

The "Look, I'm a GW centrepiece!" vibes annoy me but the pylon/spire vents on the carapace are quite beautiful. I'll probably convert mine if I get one but I'm not sure how, because there is a lot to like here.

I love the emissary, like others I thought it was bigger initially. It’s very cool regardless though

Great news for my young Boy!

 

He saved, bought and painted a Dimachaeron before they were broken then discontinued. 

Now he has a great Counts As mini.

Bloody amazing. I want one, maybe the assimilator. Big psychic bugs is the theme of my army, this will fit right in!

Kinda cool, but I was hoping the big bug for the release was going to be more like the Hiedrodule, perhaps even the Heirophant. These just look like Hive Tyrants with more visual noise. I don't dislike them but I'm not overly enamoured by them.

It is, though it looks like its raised up a little bit compared to the Assimilator.

 

I am not 100% sure why but I like the Emissary more. Maybe just easier to read the model without zooming in.
