So Kraith will be a dual-chainsword wielding assault legionnaire of the Raven Guard. His mk3 armor was customized by the tech-artisans of Kiavahr to remove some of the more known auditory issues with the armor, dampening the characteristic noisy rattle and grind of the armor's gears and plates (representing the RG's Guerilla Tactics Talent which removes any Silent Move/Concealment penalties due to armor).

He should be somewhat different in terms of playstyle from @Lysimachus's Breacher, as Kraith is more focused on fast movement and inflicting damage onto multitudes of enemies, where Elvrit Sharr looks to be good at soaking up damage.

Yep! I've rolled his stats and armour, I'm looking at advances for him now. I'm a little bit behind as I'm still getting used to DW.

Do you need any of the books?

Let us know if you're struggling, in here we love crunching characters. Possibly literally.

Getting the basics down and making sure I got them right:

Stat rolls and Chapter bonuses:

WS: 36 Reroll: 38 (this didn't help much)
BS: 45
S: 49
T: 40 +5 for Chapter bonus
Ag: 37
Int: 46 +5 for Chapter bonus
Per: 46
WP: 43
Fel: 45

Fate: 4
Wounds: 22

I want to go for Trade [Armorer] from FF, so that agility roll looks too low. I'm going to raise it with half my initial 1000xp, and capitalise on my good BS roll with an advance for that too. They're both 500xp for simple advances for Tacticals, so that's all spent.

I rolled Mk III armour with the history Terror Be Thy Friend (Fear 1)

Both my grenades came up Frag.

Fire Born (FF p24) lets me give Proven (2) to my boltgun. Bolt pistol is lost. Keeping the combat knife and Chapter Trappings, which will be Promethean Sigils: The Flame (FF p26) for +2 to initiative rolls. (This is more for flavour than anything: I want a more impetuous Salamander than normal)

Tactical speciality

Special ability: Bolter Mastery

Demeanour: Promethean Cult (I'm not 100% sure if I also generate a Demeanour from the core book or if this replaces it?)

So stats now look like this:

WS: 38
BS: 50
S: 49 (+25 for Mk III)
T: 45
Ag: 42
Int: 51
Per: 46
WP: 43
Fel: 45

Fate: 4
Wounds: 22

Anything else I need to do before I move on to spending Rank 1 xp? Also, what kind of boltgun are we using, how many rounds in the magazine?

I can chip in with the Demeanours - you always have two. The first is your Chapter Demeanour, and the second is your Personal Demeanour.  You can roll that up from Core or the GM may let you pick. Note that when you roll on a table, you may go up or down a selection (GM directions permitting of course).

Updated List

Lysimachus IH Assault Marine Breachcer, Done

Trokair former Iron Warrior Devastator, In progress

A.T.  Dark Angels tactical?

Lord_Ikka  Raven Guard Assault, Done

Mazer Rackham Raven Guard Apothecary, Done?

Xin Ceithan

Machine God Iron Hand Librarian

Urauloth Salamanders Tactical, In progress

Reminder I am going to pick 6 of 8 for the starting party.

For lores, hatreds and such that don't make sense in 30k I am open to ideas for what to replace them with on various advancement tables.  Though anything that is X (Deathwatch) should probably be replaced with X (Great Crusade)

Since it became relevant the rites of battle options for Alpha Legion  are:

Demeanor; See but don't be seen

Solo Mode ability option two, for silent move and concealment

Squad modes: Tactical Finesse and Courage under Fire

Legion Table: Knowledge is Power

I think Utu Mot Hadad is ready.

I have updated the earlier post. There is 300xp unspent to either save or plug any gabs/requirement that I may have missed. Added Trade Armourer as suggested and Resistance Heat on account of Hadad having served on Venus  in the Legion’s early day, and it is rather hot there.

@Trokair Perhaps Tech Use (800) (SM Rank 1) or Trade: Armourer (600) (SM Rank 1)? WP +5 (Simple) Dev Adv?

Other than that, I can't remember what else would be of interest to a Dev - I had similar problems with Akkad.

Oh there it is, I was wondering where that was. Its noted as a Talent in the Skills & Talents box in the First Founding:  Salamanders ,but its a Skill so I couldn't find it.

Brother Arazakiel – Dark Angels, Pilot

Arazakiel-small.jpg.ba79e136d26d4e32c4a6cfdb81169307.jpg

The universe had gone mad. Astartes turned on astartes, brother against bother as lances and virus bombs rained down upon Istvaan. Arazakiels mind raced at the cause, a betrayal of the navy or some psychic attack of xenos origin? Such illusions were soon broken by the continued attack for no outside force could have withstood the combined wrath of so many of the primarchs.

It seemed his own presence had yet to be noticed, uninvited and unaccounted for but surely not for long. His assignment had been that of an envoy to worlds long since brought into compliance, the lone astartes aboard his vessel. His ship had merged with the warmasters fleet as it rallied in realspace, joining amongst the countless lesser support vessels.

Communication was impossible, both through realspace and the warp as a palpable darkness closed around the battle. Not that it mattered - what could he report, what words could he speak that would not sound like lunacy. Minutes turned to hours as the the planet burned and yet somehow not enough as the warmaster launched fresh assault from orbit.

One more thunderhawk amongst the drop might not be seen, just perhaps...

Outwardly the very model of the 1st Legion, jet black mark 4 armour fresh from the forges, an exaggerated left pauldron, and plasma weapon, little about brother Arazakiel suggests a discreet approach to combat. Clearly the Lion saw to it that the Calibanites were the favoured sons and first to wield the benefits of the Imperiums advancing technologies.

But for a legionnaire so fortunate Arazakiels manner could generously be described as twitchy. Some might even say paranoid, if not that everyone does indeed seem out to kill him.

I'm slightly hesitant to ask this (because AT definitely knows the rules better than me!) but how is Arazakiel taking 6 different Deeds?

RoB, pg 74, under Using Deeds:

Deeds can only be chosen during character creation. Each character may only purchase one Deed.

By not reading the rules for a few years and mixing up deeds and distinctions :p

The Deepest Cut

It could mean death, but Ravyx Koloios risked the subvocalisation. He could see, but not vox-link with the blackened shape half buried in the mud. The Urgall Depression led to the rippling foothills, and Lord Corax's last order, 'Retire' still rang in his mind, even above the shells and sporadic cannon fire from the pursuing armoured column below, harrying the Raven Guard up into the peaks, to the eyries from which the King of Ravens would peer down.

Maybe with an idea of salvation, an evacuation plan to Deliverance. large.TheJackdaw2.jpg.6f72c8e36e3a8d3533e28c19ee59c93c.jpg

Not just a name, but a hope.

Ravyx subvocalised the 'Gather' call again, the warm warbling treble filtering through the slats of the bilaterally mounted vox grille on the cheeks of his conical visor. Slightly reshaped by war, he narrowed his eyes down the long nose - the beak angular, not smooth. The Battle Brother half-submerged in the acid rain brought on by the bombs and chemical shells could be unconscious, helpless, or his aural-signus could be disconnected, destroyed.

It would not surprise him. Their armour was beaten to the extreme. Ravyx wondered if the great scholars of Mars and her sister-worlds ever contemplated this test of endurance. His own soul had not. Bile welled, as reeking and foul as the puddle in front of him, but he just spat it down the waste tube. He had a sacred oath to perform.

Slithering on elbows and knees, he slipped through mud as treacherous as the word of Horus. It slowly congealed about him in runnels, building up a thick, caking slather. They were all stained by it now, no matter which metaphor applied. He plunged into the water, the sting of pollutants eking into every rent and shatter, but it was better this than try and haul the casualty out. Roving patrols cut him off from the rallying point, and he knew - as no others could, that he was only one of a dozen remaining who carried the Corvidae Caduceus

'I am here, brother,' he whispered, a susurration of his instruments and tools extending from armoured ports, ready to heal.

He must save every one of them if he could. Each man was vital, even though they might spit at him for existing. It was the Blessing of Terra to be viewed with suspicion from the lofty heights of the Ravenspire.

Ravyx gently canted the fallen brother's head, but it slumped artlessly. He didn't need the bio-monitor report to tell him the warrior was dead. A fool's hope, just like the possibility of extraction. The same as the hopes for geneseed. Rolling the body, the crimson spill stirred, a chum of Astartes organs and fluids that revealed gobbets of the precious legacy within. The fallen brother's tiny Calvaria clanked on the Mark IV gorget. He could take it - his own long gone, but where was the honour in that?

Instead, he took the Brother's ammunition, adding it to his own meagre stores. Now he had two full magazines. He hefted the fallen Umbra pattern bolter, replacing his own destroyed one. Rocks cracked under the weight of heavy sabatons below. The carrion birds were coming.

'Victorus Aut Mortis,' he offered the dead Marine the paltry last rites, before Ravyx pulled the man on top of him, and hid in the crater, submerged as deeply as he dared as the Iron Warriors marched to scour the foothills. He could not die here.

Victory, must become Vengeance, first.
