Lysimachus
Very nice! Was thinking about putting an Elvrit together with one of these:https://tortuga-gamestable.top/index.php?route=product/product&path=223&product_id=3460 and one of these:https://tortuga-gamestable.top/index.php?route=product/product&path=223&product_id=3758 and a power sword arm from the MkIV plastic kit. But those Tortuga Bay bits aren't easy to get hold of in the UK, and most of the kit would go to waste, as I only need one Body and one Shield. Ah well, maybe I'll see if I can convert some of my spare Primaris bits…? Mazer Rackham
I'm wondering, if, for the first time in ages (since Lysi's KT Paint comp yesteryear) should I lay blade to plastic, brush to paint. I'm kinda getting hard. For Raven Gaurd. Mazer Rackham
@Lysimachus There's a 3d print shop in the UK that does 'Bolterjugend' stuff which come in three flavours - Firstborn, Primaris and Truespec. I found these shields: Heavy Shield x5 | Bolter Jugend – 3DGamesShop Just as an alternative to the Tortuga, but a touch warm on the wallet. Urauloth
Going to use this thread to ask OOC questions I guess: @Black Cohort what are the chances I know anyone aboard the frigate? I'd assume extremely low, as Sul is a line legionary and there are a lot of frigates. Assuming the command crew are from Nocturne, though, there might be someone from Heliosa if that becomes relevant to interacting aboard ship, so I thought I'd raise it. Do I know the ship itself, or anything about it? Mazer Rackham
Don't know if I'll finish him, but here's a Jackdaw prototype. Also, because I'm a masochist, and Ravyx had a right-handed narthecium in the profile portrait, I kit-built this absolute unit. Trust me, it won't hurt a bit.... Mazer Rackham
Dislike double posting, albeit several hours apart: Here's Ravyx in a blu-tack mockup. Apothecaries (in this case a Special Operations Forces Combat Medic/Battlefield Surgeon) carry a lot of gear, so Ravyx is carrying mag and utility pouches around the waist, plus more med gear and a holstered pistol at left hip. On his standard issue medical backpack he's got his multi-spectra illuminator and augurs, plus a bloody great machete and a smaller ruck for even MOAR stuff. The Narthecium on his right wrist boasts a reductor, injector and saw, with geneseed storage pod, and on his left arm he carries a brace of armacrystal flasks/canopic jars (á la Primaris apothecary). Bits list available on request, and still needs a bit of tweaking, but I'm surprised it all worked TBH. Mazer Rackham
It's styrene strips, 0.10mm thick. I still have to bend them a bit under the arm so they snug up, and hang slightly better. Looking good overall, but I do have to say I am not a fan of the belts and jars just hanging there on the left arm. The rest of the pose is as if he is striding forward at speed and with internet, and they are just hanging there as if he had been standing still for a while. If you can make it so they look like they are swaying a bit as he strides then that might work better. I think it's why I like the Primaris Incusors/Reivers so much. Here it also covers a deformation on the exhaust grille... 2 hours ago, Trokair said: Looking good overall, but I do have to say I am not a fan of the belts and jars just hanging there on the left arm. Lysimachus
I get what MG is saying... but I think sometimes you have to ignore what might actually 'work' practically if it was real, in favour of adding to the theme of a mini? I get the feeling Istvaan survivors might well take along whatever extra gear they could pick up, so for my money the big knife works. I do agree on the straps, maybe if you very carefully heat them with a lighter or something, you can then bend the plastic backwards (very slightly, I don't think it needs much?) Great looking mini, anyway! I've just started doing some GS work to turn a plastic MkIII pad into one of the Medusan Immortal style FW pads with the extra layers.
