Hello friends!  Given the length of time this model will take, I wanted to create a WIP thread for him rather than wait until he was done to post up in my showcase thread. I'm really excited to get work on this guy.

I watched a bunch of Angron youtubes and decided on this level of subassembly.

Really went back and forth on the face choice, ended up going classic roar.

I decided to start with the base as i'm still noodling around exactly how i want to do the skin.   Some extras i threw on here are a mk3 helmet from my 30k world eaters army, a lieutenants tilting shield, black legion helmet, and some ruddy mud as a call back to this Lord of Red Sands title.

The plan of attack will be to finish the base, then his torso, then just tackling the arms and wings and finally the last armor bits.  Pretty much paint and glue in the order that the build instruction manual has you build the model.

HAHA ...Yes!! , I can watch how you do it and steal learn the techniques and avoid the pitfalls   You're like a mini Duncan

Looking forward to seeing this come together, colour me excited and Subscribed!! .

Love all the Additions to the base, I see you have a lieutenants shield that means you've killed one...  only like 1 million left to kill...

Cheers, M

Calling the base done.  As a side note, the white balance on my phone camera made everything way flatter than it actually is.  I really struggle to take decent pics with the S22, i don't get it, lol, womp womp

Looks great !, and I see you’ve gone with a red skintone , I see the lieutenants helmet now that we’ve got better base shots

the way you’re going it’ll be done before Christmas let alone early in the new year!!

cheers, M

Spent some time blacking in the bits that are going to be either black or metallic. Also did a little pink on the head of the tail, which will match the spiny bits of the wings.

My initial plan was to dry brush all of the skin tone except the face, I've had good results with dry brushing flesh on large models, but after seeing how little skin there actually is, I might layer instead. That'll be a bit of a game time decision I think.

Today I tackled the armor, and got through most of it.  For the armor, I'm doing a weather bronze based on this great tutorial.

Balthazar gold over black,:

Really happy with the results so far, next step will be the canoptek alloy fine highlights and some verdigris pools in the recesses.

Very Nice, I like the weathered Gold look of the Armour I never cared for Balthazar Gold though (perhaps I just got unlucky and always got average pots)

I must admit That Gold over Black changes it quite well!

Cheers, M

Thanks guys!

Ya man, I don't really ever use Balthazar Gold, in fact I totally forgot i had it and almost bought a pot for this project, lol.  The way this stippling has turned out, i'll be using it more in the future for sure.  I'm thinking maybe vehicle panels, things like that.

Today was a bit of a cluster time-wise, but I scratched out about 45 minutes doing the canoptek alloy layer on about half the armor pieces.  Only thing left is a little kiss of verdigris and the bronze bits will be finished.

Finished up the canoptek alloy step on the rest of the armor, plus started in in the verdigris.  I went super light on the application of that, thinking if I put "not quite enough" on each panel, then the armor overall would be just the right amount.  I plan on going heavy with it on the world eaters symbols, which should help those stand out a bit from the rest of the bronze tones.

Final highlight on the rest of the armor

Legion icons done, stoked.  Did a combo of way thinned Akhelian Green glazing/washing and spots of nihiloc oxide.

I'm curious as to your guys' thoughts.  The video i used for the brass paints the teeth on the shoulder icon black, though leaves the teeth on the smaller icons brass.  I'm not sure what to do about that.  Black teeth would add some visual interest to the shoulder pad, but it looks pretty gd good right now with them brass.  Not sure what to do there...

I prefer your version to that in the screen capture, I think the brass teeth suit the sculpt and are consistent with the other icon you posted and is striking enough. Of course, that's just my thoughts and I'm sure I don't have your experience.

I must say that following this is making me want to attempt Angron! Thanks for sharing.
