Welcome to the 5th year of the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge. I started this challenge in 2019 to keep me motivated throughout the year, and to help me stick to my Hobby goal of completing *at least* one model per month.

In 2019 I developed a series of Randomizer Tables are still available for this year, and you are most welcome to use them yourselves, or ask to put on the Randomizer List, and I will roll for everyone on the list a week prior to the new month.

As with last year, I'd like some company, if you'd like to join me with a commitment to 1x model (or more) per month for the 12 months of 2023, I'd love to have you along.

The Rules are pretty simple;

• I DO NOT expect you to use the Random Tables, you are more than welcome to pledge models towards your existing armies, or choose a model you would like to complete.
• Multiple model pledges are fine, but ONLY ONE *must* be finished per month to "complete" the Challenge for the Month.
• A starting pic is required. Any model that is incomplete, even those that only require basing, are eligible for this Challenge.
• A finished pic is also required, this MUST be completed to your standards, AND the model MUST be based.

then pledge in the following format, you'll need to vow each month you wish to participate,

Each month will feature a selection of Awards,

• The Completed Badge is awarded for Completing 1+ model for the month.
• The Seriously Badge is awarded for Completing 5+ models in a month
• The Artificer Badge is arbitrarily awarded to models I find impressive each month
• The Speed Daemon is awarded for Completing a model within 24hrs
• The Last Minute Badge is awarded for Completing your vow on the last day of the month
• The Overtime Badge is awarded for Completing your vow on the 1st or 2nd of the following month
• The Stubborn Badge is awarded for Completing a previous vowed but uncompleted model
• The Favourite is awarded for my top pick each month

 

You may make up to two Plodding Along Vows for the year, one for the first six months, and one for the second six months. These are intended for larger, multiple month projects, or an Army goal for the year.

All badges will upgrade Black, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, as they are earned multiple times.

So I have two commitments I'd like to make for 2024, the first to to do a Randomizer Model every month, and the second is inspired by Dwango's Plodding Along from 2023, I'll be doing a Commentative Series / Named Character from my back log each month.

 

For January the dice gods have decreed a Blood Angel, and it just so happens I have a SMH S02 Brother Sanctus available....

I, Brother Argent, Master of Over-Enthusiasms, Lord of Procrastinations and Keeper of the Argent Forge, vow to push myself even further this year.  I intend to get a Seriously and, where possible, a Speed Demon every month.

Yey! My source of constant motivation has returned!

 

I, Dwango, , embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of January pledge to complete 3 thallax for the 1st legion, 10 grey knights and 10 striking scorpions (when I get them) by month's end. (Pics to follow).

 

My plodding along vow will also be my attempt to create a zone mortalis board by painting up all of my terrain (or near as dammit). I'll likely be purchasing some more too but we'll see. 

 

I also have plans to produce an armies on parade board so I'll share my progress on that as I do it.

Once again Grotsmasha leads the charge for hobby motivation. Time to fall in step and get going.

 

 

My track record for completing Plodding along vows is abysmal, even thought I try and pick small plodding along that feel oh so achievable in January. Alas some other project takes over and before i know it the year is over.

 

So this year I am going to try and get a plodding along vow actually done, and also redeem last year by finishing that project. While I did insufficient painting I did build a fair amount, mostly thanks to @GreenScorpion event in the Imperial Guard subforum.  

 

I, Trokair, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, vowing a plodding along project to build, convert and paint round about a 1,000p for my 7th Rhûnish Dragoons project.

 

As it stands right now I have completed (in 2022/early2023)

1 Armoured Fist Squad (Chimera plus 10 Guardsmen)

1 Enginseer

1 Melta Hellhound

 

I have built, but not yet painted:

Since my Orks and IF are basically done, it's time to move on to the next army project. I've got ~5000 points of unpainted T'au, and need to get a playable 2000 point force together in time for the codex release this Spring so here we go !

I, LameBeard, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge.  Given my woeful record I’m going to try a plodding along vow. In 2024 I pledge to reach:

 

1000 points of Titancius Legio Defensor (that basically means finishing the Warlord)

1000 points of 30k Alpha Legion (that means finishing the terminators, veterans, 2nd tactical squad and one unit from scratch - maybe Landspeeder).

1000 points of 30k Blood Angels (that means finishing the recon and despoiler squads and two units from scratch - maybe destroyers, terminators and/or castraferrum)

1000 points of Legions Imperialis. That means about 1 million tiny marines and then cheating by adding the Warhound.
