Reminder that the points shown in the codex were written before the balance dataslates which lowered T'au point costs.

As always, these are already out of date, so we'll need to wait until the MFM updates to get the actual points for T'au.

This is the same as every codex so far and likely will be the same for every codex/supplement in thr edition.

If I had a pound for every time I’ve had to see someone explain this, I’d be able to afford the Kroot box.

I wouldn’t be surprised if point costs are similar to the last update, with the exceptions of the new crisis datasheets and possibly the commanders.

Sprues and Brews have their kroot army box review up, and that includes a look at the T'au Codex and associated rules:

The real shame, for me anyway, is that it's no longer tournament legal to field a lore-accurate version of The Eight:

Farsight - His usual plasma gun and sword with shield

Bravestorm - Iridium Crisis Suit with plasma rifle, shield generator, flamer, Onager Gauntlet

Brightsword - Twin fusion blasters

Sha'vastos - Plasma rifle, shield generator, flamer

Ob'Lotai - Broadside suit with ALL the missiles

Arra'kon - Coldstar suit with plasma rifle, Cyclic Ion Blaster, Airbursting Frag Projector, shield drones

Torchstar - Twin flamers

O'Vesa - Riptide suit with Ion Accelerator & Twin Fusion Blasters

I'd just started painting them all up too!  How irksome.

You could do that with Farsight, a Broadside, a Riptide and 5 Coldstar/Enforcer suits.

Obviously Arra'kon goes in a Coldstar Suit and Bravestorm's Iridium suit could be represented as an Enforcer Suit (the Enforcer basically grants his unit the Iridium bonus).

As for the others, I see Torchstar in a Coldstar suit (give those Flamers Assault), Brightsword could be in an Enforcer Suit (for the survivability) and Sha'vastos could be a Coldstar (same Assault Flamer reasoning as Torchstar).

Adding suggestions

It’s $370.00 penal colony dollars here … a bit rich for my budget unfortunately, I’ll just save for the codex when it drops … congrats to those that are getting the kroot box though , looks great ,and the Codex with nostalgia cover

That's a good shout, all told. You're right in that I can now separate them out and have them lead their own teams, which would possibly be better representation of their seniority within the Enclaves.

My big annoyance was that having them as a commander bodyguard (their normal role) would be forbidden, as I understand the rules.  I could model them as you said, but the 'fluffy' version of having them as a squad of Crisis suits with individual load outs (Bravestorm, Brightsword, Sha'vastos, and Torchstar) that Farsight leads with Arra'kon joined to the squad is now illegal, which seems a bit naff really.

Is there no chance that Farsight Enclaves will get a supplement codex, kinda like Black Templars in relation to the SM, where we'd get rules for The Eight and some other things? Or maybe a WD issue with faction rules & units?

A WD article would be the only chance. Not enough meat for a codex

I would guess that FSE fits with the Retaliation Cadre ... the Battle tactics and strategic Ploys from that are actually thematic to Farsights Eight...

I know it's Not the Eight, but I think it might slightly fill that Fluffy list gap

In typical Ethereal fashion, they've taken a thing Farsight and his Mates created, filed the serial numbers off and are shipping it as their own thing.

I think they actually killed off the eight in that last campaign series didn't they?

Xenos ask GW for "equally treatment" as Marines? Well, that's beyond crazy. If you didn't know marines are cash cow for GW, at least you can check the name of this forum and guess the popularity of marines.

Even if Tau get any sub - faction semi-independent supplements, that would be…kroots?

Correct

Arks of Omen Farsight

spoiler alert -

Spoiler

If you were hoping for an updated datasheet for The Eight, there is some potential bad news: a bunch of them die. Not that that’s stopped GW before (Eldrad), but it’s not ideal. A list of The Eight that get owned:

  • The AI battlesuit (busted up real bad)
  • Brightsword (dead)
  • Bravestorm (placed in a freezer bag)

Cheers, M

Goonhammer review up- I only read the Crusade part of the review, because that's really al I care about. Good news: very few changes, which means the star system I generated using the previous rules is still legal, and the conquest still works the same.

So now I can reread the 9th ed dex and think about how my Kroot are going to grow... Until my Hunting Pack shows up.

The updated points should be in the codex, right?
Isn't that the point of having a new codex? Up to date rules for the latest edition.

Nope this edition codex points are basically useless because they are already outdated before they are released, we need to wait for the updated MFM
