We do not want for boffins in this party; more psychic artillery, however, is certainly welcome, for a given definition of welcome. Just don't go around summoning any unbound greater daemons and your character's head can remain firmly attached to his shoulders. ;)

Instructions unclear, Bloodthirster deployed.

Yeah, apologies I missed that due to focusing elsewhere. Maybe it would be best just to take a regular Auspex? That way you lose nothing? To be honest, I'm not sure how a swarm would help with Tech Use (unless it was like a weird bio-tech swarm of microconstructed nanobots using magnesium residue and acidic ampoules) - and besides, there's lots of techies in the Party to help you though doors.

No worries. I'll skip the auspex and go with a lamp for the swarm. That can easily be fluffed as bioluminescence, and following the same usage rules, if you're ok with that. Also, I've selected a suit of light power armor as one of my starting acquisitions. If that is acceptable, I know you were rolling for how bad the armor actually is (or was that specifically just for Legion Power Armor?), so let me know my results.

The damaged stuff was really only for Marines. LPA should be fine, obviously make your subsystem selections as normal.

@Viking Slade Our opportunity to put you into the Party will come when the other Players assault an asteroid fortress held by local pirates. Since all the Players started out imprisoned, I don't see why that trend shouldn't continue. I'd like you to consider some options for your Character's current predicament as a 'hostage' of this particular gang. Were you an outcast of another group and got unlucky? Is this gang a rival to your own group? Are you a spy for them and were discovered, or are you simply living on the fringes like many others, and were captured in a raid?

Any way this goes, your story should result in you being incarcerated in the Oubliettes, the small holes in the core of the Asteroid base, with little light, company or hope. Even your abilities and powers are dimmed here, due to the combined depth of rock and presence of unknown metallurgy.

Consider your Character's state of mind, and begin drafting an introductory post to your pestilent psyker. Draw on your Motivations and aspirations (immediate or otherwise). Feel free to drop your ideas in here going forward, but please make no posts in the IC, until directed.

Got it, I will begin working on that. My character sheet should be complete for the most part, I think (other than adding things like untrained Skills for completeness). It has been a while since I've put together a character, so I apologize if I've missed anything super important.

No problem, we have some time, and can iron it all out.

At the end of the day, holes in the sheet don't take precedence over the game - if we drop the ball we kick it forward and worry about the offside rule later.

Cracking stuff @Viking Slade. With that, I think you're just about ready.

On a general note, I'll be setting up for operations recommencing in the new year, so about 5 weeks - which will cover Tro's absence and allow me (and other GM's) to clear the decks a little, since I will be stretched thin.

While we wait, everyone is free to discuss things going forward with questions and/or shouting here in the OOC. We can also resolve any left-over matters from the first section if a Player has anything they want to raise.

I may put a few IC posts in play to steer us forward, but as before, please do not post without specific direction to do so. Thanks.

With Xin's Character now being released to his duties, and eventually ending up in the wardroom, this brings the Party (save for Slade of course), back together. If anyone wishes to post interaction with other players, or speak to Iorek etc, the IC is now open to do so.

Some direction here: the wardroom is essentially a feasting hall, with the tables laid in honour of the battles and actions to come, a Vahalla's indulgence, if you will. Plenty of food and drink, so feel free to embellish - although as is tradition in the halls of Fenris - it's a help yourself and maybe get a fork in your hand if you go for the last grox at the same time as your neighbour....

I will modify the IC post to confirm the thread is open to submissions.

EDIT: Oooh, lookie!

No excuse now, @A.T.

It's like the stars aligning...?

Heretek Model that is AT's character!

Absent no longer, though not up to speed yet either.

I also recall starting to look at minion stuff, but never progressing that, better do my homework.

Also I see we have a new player, welcome Viking Slade to the Mazer’s Fodder.

Woah, woah, woah, not so loud, ok? What do you expect? I got overheads here. This is real deal, gen-you-wine weapons grade TPK I'm offering.

I see you're a discerning gentleman, listen; I'll do you a favour - I'll only mulch half your Character, ok?

I'm cutting my own throat here...c'mon.

Yes Mr Dibbler we believe you

  • 2 weeks later...

So, Lesser Minion of Chaos, I had a vague Idea a while back when trying to decide what to spend XP on. I was thinking of getting a minion for Tarh that Tar could ride. Tarh has Survival wich allows riding, and i thought it would be a nice fit with his scouting archetype.

Now, after recently (and badly) converting some cavalry for my first Turnip28 force I have much more of an idea of what sort of mount I want.

A few questions at this stage.

Lesser Minion of Chaos has a Prerequisite of Fel 40, Tarh is Fel 38, is this close enough for our Kind GM or do I need to get a Fell Advance first?

When creating a Minion can I select Skills and Talents that have characteristics prerequisite that the minion does not meet? Lesser minions are limited to no more than 30 in any one stat and Iron Jaw for example as T40 prerequisite.

How does the Size modifier to Agility bonus to determine movement rate and Quadruped interact? I assume it is AB, then size modifier, then double the movement rate.

No for the real GM digression question.

To better reflect the nature of the mount can I allocate the 100 points freely without the 30 max stat limits for a lesser, it would only be in one stat I think?

Can I trade in the minions gear (armour and one ranged or melee weapon up to scares) for Natural Weapons and Natural Armour (4), stats wise it be similar to having Flak armour and a primary melee weapon, feels more appropriate for a mount.

Fel requirement is 35, 40 is a typo. It goes up by 10 for Lesser, Regular, Greater; 35, 45, 55

I'm pretty sure as long as its Rank/Tier 1, you don't have to worry about anything else. Lesser Minion stats are so low I don't think you'd be able to meet requirements for anything!

That's how I did it for Eska.

That's one for our GM.

You will struggle to fill out the other 8 stats if you go too high, though. (See my previous comment about Lesser Minion stats. Seriously, an extra 20 points to spread between the stats would make a world of difference!)

Edit: Thinking about it, you get 100+75+75 for the 3 levels. If I was doing it, I'd do 120+65+65. Same end result, not much difference in the middle, but it would really help out at the lower end of the scale?

Again, one for Mazer.

Personally, I just gave Eska the Armour/Weapons, and put in brackets what it was representing? (chainsword = jaws, flak = thick fur)

I'm being really strict with minion stats, making them as by-the-book as possible, so I'm afraid the 30 max is your hard cap.

We have a touch more flexibility here. I'll let you swap Traits around, depending on what they are. However, if you could give it Flak armour (perhaps like a horse caparison) this would be more beneficial to you overall, since it will:

  • Achieve exactly the same result as Natural Armour 4
  • If it's destroyed you can just make or buy more
  • Your Armourmonger can up-armour it with a bunch of scraps in a cave
  • Natural Armour is no defence against weapons which ignore natural armour.

As Lysi suggests, you could just counts-as the weapon too - Chainsword = many, many, many laayers of nibbly, gribbly teeth....pretty much the rest of Lysi's reply is my understing of how it goes together (movement etc).

Last point: As I warned other players with a Minion, it's Big Boy Trousers.

Thank you Lys and Mazer, I have made progress.

Mazer thought I was after a Mûmakil (and offered a hill pony like Bill).

Well not quite, meet Mithra (name work in progress). Tarh and 60mm base for scale reference.

Still need to do Skills and Talents, but Mithra’s minion profile for Mazer’s approval is currently as follows. Initially rolled 1d10 per stat, then filled out T and tweaked S and Ag a little and then added points at random to the remaining stats until I hit 100.

WS  BS    S       T      Ag    Int    Per   WP   Fel      Loy

6      3     20     30    15      6      9      5       6        38

Move:   AG1+2(Size) x2(Quadruped) = 6/12/18/36

Wounds:  6

Skills:

Talents:

Traits:  Amphibious, Quadruped, Size (6) Enormous

Weapons: Snapping Jaw/Trampeling feat/bulk (Greatweapon (Melee, Dam:2d10, Pen:0, Unbalanced))

Armour: Tortoise Shell (Flack Armour (AP4 all points))

Gear: N/A

I'll work on a introduction post or some such over the holiday in the run up to the game resterting.

have now selected 4 skills and 5 talents, hope they work ok for giant Giant Tortoise

Skills: Awareness, Navigation (Surface), Survival, Dodge

Talents: Weapon Training (Primary), Iron Jaw, Berserk Charge, Sound Constitution, Quick Draw

Looks fine, albeit Totugakaiju doesn't have enough pre-req for Iron Jaw, I'll approve it, because it's a Galapogean Behemoth.

Do be aware though, because of it's size, it's gonna need lots of food.

Noted, if we can feed a bunch of space marines we can probably feed a Tortoise. :whistling:

Thank you, hench why I asked about minions and prerequisits.
Dare I ask how many more punny names you are going to throw around?

Worst case scenario, we could feed a bunch of space marines with a giant tortoise... Charles Darwin said they were delicious!

To be clear, I kid, of course!
