Gentlemen, forgive the breach of protocol, but rather than spoil the drama of the IC post with GM Direction, I'll do a little housekeeping here.

GM: Can each of you roll a D10 and post the results below to inform me:

  • If you roll Even, you are harnessed on the starboard (right) side of the Krokodil.
  • If you roll Odd, you are on the port (left) side of the Krokodil.

Much obliged.

Please feel free to make comments in the IC, but bear in mind the following:

  • Zero atmosphere means no talking other than commbead/vox system.
  • It's airless/cold. I will require a Toughness Test (+20) from Ukalegon.
  • G forces are in effect:
    • Hand signals or any attempts to move will require a Strength (-10) Test from Mortals, or a Contortion Test from Astartes.

Questions obviously can be asked here as well.

There we go. Not as eloquent as I'd like, but I figured Hagga is generally a Marine of few words and prefers to lead by action...

The Smiler is here for conversational and loquacious eloquence.

Of course, that means his skill at the old ultra-violence is marginal at best. He might hit an enemy with his sword or pistol, he also might hit a cell-member.

I think we're just waiting for Tro, now.

Feel free to post your Characters' thoughts IC, gents if you feel inclined. No tests for your life flashing before your eyes, after all.

@Mazer Rackham I doubt rather strongly that any of us has Operate (Void Ship) at present, but Ukalegon does have Operate (Aeronautica), which would be much closer to the experience of flying a rocket-propelled bucket than a capitol ship, at least in my view. Where I'm going with this is can we tell if the krokodil is completely out of control, and does one of us poor sods need to do something heroic (read: unbelievably stupid) to get this thing back on course?

Edit: Disregard; I'm sure we'll find out what's up shortly...

No need to apologise @Trokair:thumbsup:

So:

Starboard:

  • Xerxes
  • Ukalegon (M)
  • Kraggan
  • Hagga (M)

Port:

  • Tarh
  • Cyrandras (M)
  • Crux'As

Yes, yes most agreeable.

He's turning into a Skaven...

That can't bode well for us.

Er, what are you doing out of the Doomwheel again?

Quick, quick! Get peddling!

Question: does Astartes armour include a microbead as standard?

I know none of us have the Vox Link subsystem, but I'm not sure if that is the same thing, or part of the same subsystem, or something totally different?

I was going to have Hagga talk to the other team members, but if there is no atmosphere no-one can hear him at all?

Xerxes does have one... but it does us no good whatsoever if no-one else does?

Edit: I'm not looking to make contact with anyone long-range, but it really stunts forward movement if we can't even talk to one another...?

Edit edit: I suppose we could try to loot some microbeads from the (bits of) corpses in the lander... but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense either, unless we can somehow put a regular headset over the top of a Power Armour helm... which is just a bit odd...? scratch all of that, if the headset was outside of our void seals we couldn't talk into it/hear out of it anyway!

@Lysimachus per the Black Crusade power armour rules, if you don't select the vox link armour subsystem at character creation, then you'll have to pay to have it repaired later (unsure if that is technically supported by the rules) or acquire helm augmentations (very rare availability in this game) to gain the advantages of a functioning helm, at least by astartes standards. Otherwise, you'll have to stoop to acquiring a vox bead or engage in sign language.

That's what I figured.

I have absolutely no idea how we're going to talk to each other then.

Even if we now find enough working microbeads to go around, we can't now put them on without unsealing our armour first, putting them on, then sealing it up again... by which time everyone's eyeballs have exploded.

And sign language? Sure, we can maybe do really, really simple stuff like point at a way to go? But we don't (as far as I'm aware) have a common sign language that everyone would know, so getting any more complex message across is about as realistic as "What's that, Skippy? The kids are trapped down the old mine shaft?" etc, etc.

For a bit of guidance, your targeting/GPS systems would place your crash site roughly 800m (you were slowed by gravity) short of your target site (and ingress). A rummage around in the wreckage may yield what's left of the comm system which could be repurposed by the Technocrats amongst you to provide hardlines for temporary comms.

Most voidsuits and astartes armour carry posts for such things.

You bring up a good point: have Ukalegon's eyes frozen and/or ruptured from exposure to vacuum or does astartes physiology (looking at the mucranoid) prevent that from happening? Or is our resident pretty-boy potentially looking at fighting his way through the asteroid base blind and being fitted for some suitably grubby and grimy cybernetic eyes (preferably ripped from the sockets of some other poor sod)?

I'm foreseeing an arrangement with Hagga guiding Ukalegon about on a leash with a harness like one might see attaching a parent to a hyperactive toddler allowed out for walkies.

Sadly no. Your mucranoid will have prevented this problem, albeit your vision will be blurry from peering through your own 10-gallon gelatinous sweat. Enough, however to keep you going for a while. BS Tests will be at -20, but you can make out terrain features, etc.

There's enough wreckage and dead twonks in this bird to get a new hat if you want one for later.

As for rudimentary comms, you can write in the 'chalk' dust of the crater. Just a couple of words and a big arrow would suffice.

As the old ork artillery entry states - sign language works well enough, but you can only carry so many signs.

(though Xerxes and anyone else with a dataslate have options)
