I have to say that it is absolutely uncanny how similar this scenario is to the first BC campaign I played in. The psyker (also a PC) who the rest of the warband broke out of a prison cell in an asteroid stronghold managed to get himself possessed by a greater daemon after casting his first spell (a pushed Doombolt, no less). Immediately, a Great Unclean One proceeded to manifest, which then chased us all around the base to the Benny Hill theme music until we managed to trap it, briefly, in a chamber and made good our escape in an escape pod.

With apologies to @FabiusV4lcoran, this is awesome.

The system continues to deliver ready-made chaos with dice rolls alone and little further intervention required on the part of the GM.

I can only assume that this is an unofficial rite of passage for all Warbands in BC (not to mention this is our second encounter now with a greater daemon). Keep swinging for the fences!

In terms of actions I can try to close the door as a free action (and release halon on some of the fires which I missed before) while also trying to power up servitors that I might be able to steer into poking buttons on the power recycler.

Though if Kraggan is blocked from reaching a repairable site I could also look to open a door or two for him if he radios in.

It's a general call to abandon ship. Be on the boat, or be spam.

Ah, but there's more to go yet...

You will be able to unlock a route out from there.

I'm okay with that.

I hear the voices, but I don't read minds - clue us in?

In that case, there's no point in working to fix stuff, so Xerxes might as well shut the door for us, please @A.T.?

If Horde 3 hadn't Run in, I'd be inclined to let the big guy come and have a go, but not while I'm already swamped...!

That is entirely dependent on what the GM rolled.

Perhaps @Mazer Rackham - is just working on a great Death Scene post for Kraggan?

Direct response to the previous post by @A.T. mentioning closing the door.  My apologies for the confusion.

Not at all - I suggest you unplug and get Xerxes to open the doors for you and get off the station.

But you can still use the egg whisk and the flying helmet surely?

With all that in play now, @Lord_Ikka and @FabiusV4lcoran are free to enter narrative as they please, Initiative is now suspended fro these Players.

Obviously Fab, waking up naked flying along on the back of a Marine is quite the experience. Your character will also remember nothing, except, heat, blood and the dense, terrible ache of anger.

A.  I'm sorry for the delay; today was HELL, but let me tell you catching up on the OOC chat has been the tonic to my day.  I am so excited to see what IC looks like.

B.  OMG this sounds...seriously I am so :cuss:ing excited to read up.

Dammit, hitting enter didn't work.  I tried!

I never realised that the abominant was as far away as it was, I was so confused why we were so desperate to close that door

To be fair, at the moment only Hagga (and Eska?) are within Charge range for the Abominant if it gets through the North door. Obadiah and Varne haven't moved away from the South door.

Is Varne engaged in melee with a horde at the moment?

Yep, Horde 3, though they must be pretty thinly spread to have Engaged Varne and Hagga/Eska.

I'm slightly hoping that my guys killing 10 Mag means that they (edit for clarity: Hagga and Eska) aren't engaged any more...? (i.e. killed all of the hybrids that were in range of them)

Yes, apologies, although as Lysi says, they are spread very thinly. They are throwing their lives away to be...friendly. Yes.

FTFY.

For clarity - has the outside force reached Xerxes defenses or is he observing the initial fall of the closer/lesser systems?

No, you're watching the outer layers being eroded, a desert wind sandblasting a pyramid. It is nowhere near you at the moment.

EDIT: Just to clarify the intensity - it is utterly inexorable. Your defences will not hold out long against it.

How long will it take us to get to the pick-up location? Is 8 mins enough to kill the brute and still get out?

I know structured Rounds are literally a few seconds long, so one or two probably won't matter either way...

Hagga won't want to leave the beast unslain,  but he's not far enough along Khorne's path that he'll stay and die just to get the kill - at that point Dornian practicality would win out!

Edit: side point, but is that really right that ML get 1 shot before needing to be reloaded?? I get it for the basic single tube launchers that Guard teams might use (like in the weapon description), but Astartes versions clearly have autoloaders/larger clips?

There are no Legion variants, it's a one-hit wonder.

Like Vanilla Ice.

Have you been listening to your 90s bad rap mixtape over the last few days?

Seriously though, I'd definitely call that an oversight on the part of the FFG people.

After all, the basic Astartes ML in Deathwatch CRB was Clip 1, but in the Errata it had Clip 8 (which looks about right to me, 4 Frags and 4 Kraks?) and that's just the regular launcher (without the big backpack supply with the little servo arm thingy).

Ah well, just as well Varne has Rapid Reload, otherwise it would only be able to fire every other Round!

Well looking at the Chaos Havocs as were, the ML always looked like it had a jury-rigged magazine, (as did some of the Marine ones) and the Soundstrike is actually only single-shot, fed by a ready magazine/w loading arm on the backpack.

This is something we can look at, but would be either that or a jump pack, when the opportunity comes.
