Just to give folks a nod, we're going to have to push back 'opening' for at least a week, so Part II will start on or around 08/03/2026.

Due to commitments, I would still like this wrapped-up as soon as we can, so once Mojake is dug out of his second grave, we'll exfil everyone to the Dredge and close this off.

Themes.

Ukalegon the Twice-Lived and Varne the Twice-Dead.

I'd honestly kinda forgotten we hadn't actually restarted yet... why are the interludes of this game even more deadly than the 'active' bits?

Call me crazy, but I think this has entirely to do with whether he have a unified set of goals we're collectively working towards or not. Left to our own devices, idle hands, et cetera, et cetera.

Compact:

- Well defined roles

- Clearly defined, measurable goals

- well understood success criteria

Interludes:

- acquire loot

- do stuff

- things happen

- roll dice

- more things happen

- ????

- flee for our lives

As an addendum, observe the ABCs of the Black Templars:

- ALWAYS

- BE

- CRUSADING

A very important part of the process in the Nook is also the debrief of Players. I'd be very interested to know what Players who've recently come to us think of how we do things, and especially any critique about the game so far. Obviously our regular Players are also welcomed to give their insight into what they liked, what wore a bit, what they'd like to see more of, less of, etc.

We'll cover that when the game wraps, too.

All the summonings of greater daemons perhaps ?

Just to check, for Brawlhalla, we're not waiting for me? I hadn't posted yet because I was waiting to hear what the effect of the collapsing roof was on Varne

I think there are a few rolls for you to make, as per Mazer's post in the IC?

Stunning, attempting to contact the other characters, etc?

Mazer had rolled Damage from the rockfall in the same post, but I think he said you could take off AV+TB so I think only a few Wounds will have gone through?

Edit: based on the post in the hangar, I think we need to get moving asap!

Yep, this is the size of it.

No wisecrackery from me here - GM to Player: If you go back in, you are going to die.

If you want that, I will allow it, but Big Boy Trousers. No Infamy burn, nothing. Infamy will not save you from what is about to happen.

Up to you.

No sweat. Solid ask. The problem is that's it's essentially a question of time vs distance vs obstacle.

You have to go in, negotiate the terrain without Assists, overcome obstacles or adversaries, link up, lead them out, negotiate again, get on the Krok, leave. Your chances of making it vs a one-way trip for the people in the rock is far, far slimmer.

Ok, assuming we'll get Varne uncovered by the 2nd Round, how should we narrate our next steps? Do we know which point of egress is closest? Are we better to aim for the hangar, or are we closer to the surface somewhere else? If that is a better option, can we do as Kraggan did and get picked up outside?

The door to the West is open enough to get down that tunnel. If you follow that for a bit, you will find an array of tubes and passages which lie along the main reactor exhaust. Blast down, blow outside if you want to trust to external pick-up. Exfil that way is viable, but it's a 'bit' warm.

Like sticky, stick-to-your-leg sweaty bollards inside your Mk VII jocks, warm.

It's also a tad radioactive.

Narrate accordingly - any help?

Mmh, ten minutes isn’t a lot of time… guess we try slipping away with the Dredge and try to hide it by running silent?

It’s a shame we have to rely on mortal pilots… I’d like to place some recon / recovery vehicle close by but I doubt the Krokodil and crew can survive going dark long enough.

Yeah I was figuring Ukalegon would order the Dredge to start making moves while taking his krokodil out to locate and pick up the others, then initiate a hard burn to catch up with the Dredge. Thoughts?

Trying to retain any sense of surprise or at least obscuring our presence means trying to hide away the Dredge - a Krokodil might slip through or could be explained away as. Part of the local rabble - so @Necronaut’s plan makes most sense.

I’d love to turn it into an ambush but this bunch isn’t in any shape for that atm

I'll give a narrative breather for anyone to post if they wish, and I'll move us on soon.

EDIT: Obviously we will also account for any planning as per posts below.

@Xin Ceithan by the sounds of it we are massively outgunned and otherwise quite ill-equipped to do anything against whomever is descending upon us. Hiding in another asteroid's shadow could be a possibility and/or we just run for it and make the warp jump at the earliest possible convenience. We're caught between a rock and a hard place.

I'll hold off on my follow up post until we agree on some sort of coherent plan.

Edit: unless there was some way for us to leave behind a warhead or something to completely set Brimstone off in some unpredictable way in the hopes of catching our presumed pursuers in the blast radius, but I suspect that is quite out of the question.
