Viking Slade
++Out of the Frying Pan++ ++An Only War Campaign++ CHARACTER/DATA THREAD Dramatis Personae Player Characters Decon Garrick, Sebastian Nathaniel; Ministorum Priest - Mazer Rackham Specialist Kordo; Sniper - Lord_Ikka NPC's Commissar Vortis Lt. Gallesu Sgt. Harver Enginseer Mosch Operator Magneg Campaign/Game Rules Spoiler The following rules/modifications will be in effect for the entirety of the campaign. (Credit to Mazer Rackham for some of these rules.) I reserve the right to add to, remove, and modify the rules from this list as needed, in order to give everyone the best experience possible. For transparency, I will be using https://orokos.com/roll/c-Out+of+the+Frying+Pan for my rolls. This campaign will use the Only War errata. Please make sure your character complies with the updates. The 40k setting is dark and grimy. Blood and gore settings are permanently on (I won’t get too extreme, I promise), and the “good guys” are morally gray at best. I don’t expect anyone to play a saint (especially given this is a Penal Legion), but I do expect players to be able to deal with tough choices, moral grayness, and perhaps the rare crisis of faith. Grown-up bottoms, people, not diapers. If you suffer Critical Damage to the head that would result in death, you may not burn a Fate point to survive. Game over, you are dead (see above rule). GG, suck it up and roll a new Trooper, we’ll find a good spot to bring you back in shortly. For Super Ea-the EMPEROR! Once a post has been made, any post(s) and/or rolls made before then become set in stone, forever. Did we forget something, or make a mistake? Oh well. We learn from it, move on, and try to remember the lesson the next time the situation comes up. Characters do not need to purchase prerequisites for any abilities gained from the Regiment or their chosen Specialty. When reaching a milestone, characters that choose to move into a specialty that doesn’t grant a Comrade from one that does may keep their Comrade. Players may purchase Specialty and Comrade advances from other specialties, with the following caveats: You must run it by me first. The advance needs to make sense for your specialty/role. Sell me on it. If purchased after character creation, it will require a Narrative Time post during in-game downtime describing/roleplaying the training or effort to acquire the advance (I will work with players when necessary). The experience cost for purchasing an advance from another specialty is double the normal cost. Players may only purchase a single advance from any one specialty, and may only purchase up to three advances total in this way. You may only purchase Comrade advances if your current specialty grants you a Comrade. Advances from the Commander, Commissar, and Sergeant specialties may not be purchased at all. I will be imposing encumbrance, but in a slightly different manner, mostly applying to weapons. For encumbrance purposes, characters are considered to have three “slots” for carrying weapons on their person: Main (Heavy and Basic weapons), Sidearm (Pistol weapons), and Melee (self-explanatory). Characters may carry up to one [Main] weapon, one [Sidearm] weapon, and one two-handed or two one-handed [Melee] weapon(s) at a time. Some specialties may end up with more weapons than they can carry. You may not have your Comrade carry your extra weapons for your character, unless you have purchased the Armsman advance. Any weapons you can’t carry are left at “camp.” If your Heavy weapon has the Suspensors upgrade, you may carry one additional Basic [Main], [Sidearm], or one-handed [Melee] weapon. If one or more of your Basic weapons has the Compact or Sawn Off upgrades, you may carry one additional Basic [Main], [Sidearm], or one-handed [Melee] weapon. You may choose to give up your [Main] weapon slot in order to carry either an additional [Sidearm] and one-handed [Melee] weapon, or an additional two-handed [Melee] weapon, instead. You may choose to give up your [Sidearm] weapon slot in order to carry an additional one-handed [Melee] weapon instead. You may choose to give up your [Melee] weapon slot in order to carry an additional Basic [Main] or [Sidearm] weapon instead. You may choose to give up your [Sidearm] weapon slot and only carry a single one-handed [Melee] weapon, in order to carry an additional Basic [Main] weapon instead. A character may never carry more than one Heavy weapon without prior approval and the appropriate abilities and weapon upgrades. Miscellaneous gear will not be combed through to make sure players meet encumbrance limits, but if your rucksack starts looking like you’re hauling several dead gretchin, best bet an “accident” is in your future where some of your gear gets lost. At random. Ammunition is not unlimited. Be sure to keep track of your reloads. There will be opportunities to scavenge basic ammo, but don’t count on that to save you from running dry if all you do is “spray’n’pray.” I’m sure this goes without saying, but reloading with ammo still in the clip/magazine/tank does not automatically refund said ammo to your reserves (we’re not playing CoD here, afterall). You lose any shots not fired when reloading a weapon, unless you specify that you put the partially fired clip/magazine/tank in a pocket/bag, and add a separate note about it and its remaining shots on your sheet. Characters may carry four reloads for their Basic [Main] weapon, and a total of two reloads for any [Sidearm] weapons (either two for a single, or one each for two different weapons). If you give up your [Main] weapon slot in order to carry an additional [Sidearm] weapon, you may split six total reloads as you wish between those weapons. Characters carrying a Heavy [Main] weapon may carry two reloads for it. Characters with a Comrade may carry an additional reload (for a total of three) for that weapon. Any ranged weapons requisitioned after character creation automatically come with two full reloads (one already being in the weapon). Heavy weapons, and weapons that can only use exotic/special ammunition are the automatic exceptions; these weapons come fully loaded, but with no additional reloads. Ranged weapons scavenged/picked up on the battlefield will have a randomized amount of ammo remaining, using a d100 for percentage (randomized ammo percentages will be rounded to the nearest shot). Unfortunately, it seems that the unorthodox and criminal conduct of the so-called "Chem-dogs" infected Kordo. On six separate occasions he failed to adhere to Command directions and displayed an attitude of contempt for those he considered "not worthy of the front". He is currently inducted into Penal Legion Theta-Delta-Beta, to serve out his term.
