As far as the idas for next year @Grotsmasha, I have a pretty hefty load to do- I've got nearly a 2k Votann army to paint up (though I'm going to speedpaint them so it should be quick), as well as a new project that will integrate some Night Lords into my very slow burn Word Bearers hobby project. I think I might be able to do either, but the second idea (killteam) is more in my wheel-house as I'm looking at getting a Nemesis Claw squad anyway...

ALSO, also, 12MoH will be run as a Club in 2026, I've already confirmed with BroT that we will have it pinned here at the top of the WIP Forum, so ease of access will be the same as all previous years of the Challenge.

I like the idea of the 2nd option a bit more, unless the daemon-tied entries would be opened up for full factions, not just Imperial.

 

The 2nd is more narrative and sounds like it'd be a PITA to run but fun to participate in. My main concern would be for people that don't run at the stupid pace others do, where they're aiming to do a mini or two per month. Since it's a sub event it should be fine though for folks to self-select out.

 

Also... who is BroT? I'm an old Heresy-Online guy but don't recognize BroT.

I have considered this, and at this point completing the month would be worth 3 Board Actions a turn, with additional badges earning bonus secondary Squad actions (or something to that effect).

I have two ideas.

 

The first is a back-burner idea I've had since.....8th? Ed.? I think.  Basically it would be a Chaos Daemons Army, that is actually modelled and painted as LotD, and termed Codex: Angels of the Emperor OR The Emperor's Angels of Death OR Imperial Nephilim.

Over the 12 months, the challenge would be for each participant to take one Index / Codex Daemons entry and choose an Imperial Unit (Astartes, Sisters, Guard etc) to model for it, and then re-word the Data-card with Imperial language, but not actually altering the rules (to ensure balance remains), and paint at least one of these models to suit a "ghostly warrior" theme.

For Example: Thunderwolf Cavarly to replace Juggernaughts of Khorne, or Repentia to replace Daemonettes, and so on.

 

The second idea, is a little more involved. I guess the end result would be a Kill Team of 10 Models. It would be a narative type event, similar to 2020's Reclaimation of the Inviolate Rage 12MoH Campaign (Summary HERE), which featured a Hex-based map to explore and fight over. This time rather than Armies and loads of models, each month would feature a particular "Operative", one month would be a Comms model, another a ranged specialist, another a Heavy Weapons model and so on. January would be for choosing your Factiona and prepping a roster, Feb would be choosing starting positions, March would see the first model completed, with one each month til December.

Each Faction would have Lore themed Buff, extra Defense for Nurgle, extra movement for Eldar, stuff like that. It would be themed inside a Hive City. Each participant would have a fixed number of "Actions" per month, with each Badge earning additional Actions. I haven't yet decided if Actions will be banked for future months, or expire monthly. There will be Objectives to complete, place to loot and so on. The Map, movements etc will all bt public, I don't think I can maintain that many PM's this time (2020 Campaign have Faction PMs).

An idea I'm toying with is each Participant will be PM'd a private mission, that is Lore / Faction inspired.

 

So what say you, do either of these ideas work? Which one interests you more?

As a fellow who enjoys a conversion at a slow pace I think 2nd option would suit me, especially if I can pigeonhole it into my plans for the year, which are a bit more painty and less buildy.

Awful picture because the light in the room isn't strong enough, but as I had a clear table after our Blackstone Fortress session I gathered a group shot of my Legiones Imperialis plodding along (and a couple of top up individual months) grouped together while I had space.

 

 

I won't get the Industrial terrain completely done (I might get a couple of bits done in Dec) and with Christmas and other distractions I'm not going to have time/space for another group shot this year.

It is 8 characters and 1 squad at the same time, so somehow 9 paint jobs in parallel (plus some Ogor Leadbelchers, so a grand total of 10 projects led in parallel). My personnal record, as I usually run 2 to 3 max at the same time.

 

More to be seen in my Blogs in the coming days (Entries are under scheduled release mode, and some will probably come with pics  redone, this time with some light ...)
