phandaal
1 hour ago, ZeroWolf said: Though I assumed how GW would bring them back to full strength is to just say that recruits from other worlds were enlisted to the Steel Legion Yeah, that was my first thought as well. By this new lore, the whole planet of Armageddon is depopulated, because the Steel Legion is basically just underhivers. As long as there are hives, there should be recruits. No more recruits means no more people living on Armageddon. If there were to be more Steel Legion, they would have to get inducted from other worlds. But I think what you and I are doing is more effort and logic than GW put in, so I choose to make fun of it instead. As you say, it probably came down to "These ones already have gas masks. We don't need different ones with gas masks. Isn't there some other game with trenches? People like trenches. These look like guys who go in trenches. Use these ones so we can sell more of them." 1 hour ago, Marshal Rohr said: Unfortunately, all the available planets were instead given over to the Cadians. ShibeKing
Those dang Greenskins took out the factories making the Steel Legion's awesome uniforms. It's cool seeing Yarrick back with an updated model. Wouldn't be a proper fight against the Orks on Armageddon without him. TheTrans
This topic has been a ride haha. I finished a steel legion, with super heavies, army for a 3rd Edition event last year and it was a blast painting up the old, simpler models. I was very lucky I had..ah... electronically backed my existing models... but I digress on that. Yes people haven't been clamouring for Steel Legion, but it feels like a lot of people into GW nowadays, just go nuts for whatever the latest thing is that drips from the tip of GW's inspiration delivery probiscis. Them not releasing Steel Legion on the back of an Armageddon and Yarrick release, odd, but sure, just release the MTO ones and call it a day. I think my issue with it is sort of the flippant nature they approach it with and sort of handwave away all the, well, handwavium they use. Back in the day (sans squats) I feel like they just added new stuff, and then wrote about it. Now they are taking stuff away and canonising its removal (which again makes the setting smaller and sort of 'boxes' in people if they want to be current, which with the setting moving to narrative if not enforces, definitely of encourages (lets not talk about legends etc also)) and in a fairly dismissive manner to boot. TLDR: No Steel Legion plastic release - Regrettable. Flippantly writing them out of the lore and taking the piss - pretty :cuss:ty. Brother Tyler
If someone has more news about the return of Yarrick, feel free to report this topic and we'll either post the information or unlock the topic. Other topics should be brought up in their own discussions.
