I like the 4E metal Venerable; there's elements that don't quite do it for me (the toe claws and double thumb) but overall I think it captures the feel of "ancient walking tomb that's even more sacred and old than the other ancient walking tombs" very well.

That said, whilst I'd love to get a metal one I prefer the plastic kit due to the sheer amount of options. You can do anything from heavily ornamented fighting relic to a slightly more ornate regular Mk V.

I'll definitely echo the desire for a plastic Mk. IV Castraferrum. The FW ones were amazing.

I am hoping, with 11th edition pushing primaris further into being more like their firstborn counter parts, that the Venerable Redemptor starts to take more from the castaferrum patterns.

I don't love primaris by any stretch, i only really enjoy it when it is just doing 1 to 1 remakes like the Landspeeder (which isn't quite 1 to 1, but it is much better than the Storm Speeder and atleast attempts to look like what is bringing back) and Terminators. The Redemptor is such a hard one for me to reconcile with cause i don't hate it, the Ballistus made me like it a bit more with how much that one looks like the old plastic boxnaught. Even still they all look too much like mech suits, not enough like walking coffins with guns. Ironically enough the one that is actually a mech suit, the Invictor, would have worked infinitely better as a dreadnought. It is entirely the legs though, the rest is just worse than the Redemptor.

Oh, and it is probably inevitable, that the ven dread will have stupid exposed head, as that has come to be associated with venerableness, but I really hope it doesn't or at least has an option for the proper sarcophagus.

What I like about the Contemptor/Heresy dreadnoughts and the MK IV is the "head" . It's just a dressed up sensor pod that houses a bunch of optical sensors and an auspex. The issue I have with the plastic Venerable Dreadnought is that they made it look like an exposed Space Marine. The parts are the same size as a Tactical Marine chest and head.

While it had exposed "torso/head" part, it was an OPTION, People tend to forget that you had an option to actually build one as literal boxnaught, or barely seen head version aswell.

You’d think the Redemptor is primed for an upgrade sprue or two to easily give us loads of variants. Venerable as discussed, but Bjorn or Murderfang should be relatively easy too.

The Redemptor build is such it wouldn’t surprise me to there was some future-proofing considered at its inception.
