That looks amazing!!!

What program are you guys using? (I'm guessing its not one of the free AI art generators... as far as I've found, they do not come out looking that close to the prompt! )

I used Gemini, which is Nano Banana. Best thing to do is just describe what you want, then regenerate and tweak until you get what you want.

I attached Ikka's image and here was my prompt:

Generate a sepia-tone image in an identical style to the attached image, but of a character called Cal Molina. Here are some details on his appearance: Early twenties, tanned skin, dark eyes and long hair tied back, light stubble, fit and healthy if a little lean. Wears mountain camo fatigues, flak armour, and a leather duster, all faded and slightly scruffy. Carries long-las across his back and meltagun in his hands.

The melta looked weird, so I asked it to regenerate the melta and change nothing else about the image, then just hit 'Try Again' a couple of times until it looked right.

@Mazer Rackham Hmm... it's a tough call...

@Mojake Well, it looks fantastic. Added to the character data thread.

(I must admit, I spotted that the strap for the long-las was going through his coat lapel, so I edited it to be on top... but I'm such a luddite that I had to redraw it myself with very, very zoomed in MS Paint... )

Doesn't quite line up at the ends either...

"Wood warped like hell. You get it wet, put it in the sun, gone. Somebody probably should have figured that out before they sent it into a damn jungle." /breakingbad :p

This one's more or less fixed, check my previous post and the pic in the data thread.

Good for shooting round corners, right?

Yeah, though, as I understand it AI sometimes struggles with perspective. That one is beyond me to fix...

Regardless, I'm thrilled with how it looks!

Have you been talking to my second ex-wife?

I use Copilot- I've found that it does the best job for what I need it to. I mainly use it for my CSM blog here, to give my lore blurbs a little bit of visual interest in the time before I start painting my models.

With the help of Copilot, I have devised and hereby present our Regimental No. 8 Dress: Altiplano.

large.AltiplanoSmock.jpg.e07c73c8ad87b3e

This is our windproof smock, made with altitude and terrain changes in mind, lightweight, breathable, with pit zips and hunter pocket, it is reversible to save weight and increase utility. It crushes down into it's own hood. You will see the 'temperate' side will work in several arid/borderline environments up to around 3-4000 metres, and some high deserts, and the alpine side will pull double duty in several terrains involving rocky and snowy terrain above 4000m, as well as urban/concrete-heavy environments at sea-level.

The rocks, shale, and mountainous vertices, provide not only disruption and mimicry of expected terrains, but also provide the heritage of the design's homeworld, and Regiment monikers.

This pattern could easily be reproduced on jackets, trousers, and ponchos, etc, and will support numerous colourways of equipment/harness without the disruptive effect being overwhelmed - although my suggestions would favour Olive Green (for maximum temperate pickup), Brown Leather, FDE or Dark Tan equivalents.

Variations using the above colour paths to provide alternative theatre patterns retaining the motifs:

I love it.

Sitrep: it looks like we're waiting on @Necronaut and @A.T. to confirm they're ready for me to once-over their sheets. @BadgersinHills it looks like there's a fair bit still outstanding on your sheet too. No rush, but if we want to kick this off a bit early then let me know when you're able to fill it in

I think i'm done - i'll fill in things like weapon stats and carry weight when I have a moment but the character stats, skills, and advances should all be listed correctly.

Sorry for the delay. I'll try to get it done tomorrow as I've been a bit busy with work, but if not, feel free to get the game started.

A few questions. Is the rest of our standard equipment is somewhere on this thread? Also, when creating a Comrade, do you just give them a name and choose comrade advances?

It'll probably be next week before we start - but earlier than the July start I'd pitched before (so long as everyone is okay with some holiday pauses in June for me).

See post 1 of the data thread.

Name, demeanour and any advances you may wish to purchase for them. Aside from the latter, it's all fluff to help you build a narrative identity for them.

May we enquire what sort of warzone we are being deployed to? Or is that for senior officers and we just have to sit tight in the barracks aboard the transport ship.

Once everybody has posted their character intros on the Data topic, I'll put a post up on there with more information on the deployment.

^ ---- see this, Tro?

This reply means we're in the :cuss:.

Thankfully, it will only come up to Por's knees. The rest of us are in trouble.

Por would like to request Ogryn-proof Wellington Waders form the quartermaster.

Edit: And a Ogryn-proof respirator with filters.

Hence the reason Jarrow went to visit the QM...also hence the reason you don't get them...

@Mojake sorry mate I am absolutely swamped and have had no time to write or finalize character creation. I think I can have something put together and ready this weekend.
