Respectfully I disagree. They've not shown the full stuff of what's coming yet. The starters drop at the end of July (25th). As per last ed, I'd expect to see them in September as tradition. They generally don't do big releases in August. Ogors are the first August release with the army box. Not if it's a Kill Team and locked in a box with other stuff for who knows how long. Probably until whatever kill team box comes after. In other news this means Red Terror and stealth cadians will be standalone once the Nob team is first available. Indy Techwisp
I know most of this thread is about the Orks stuff, but what do people think about the new Marine Detachment? Article suggests it's use for BA but idk if it overlaps with BA's unique options. Not to mention it's about time he got a model for the first time since, what, RT? 2E? He's been active in the fluff for ages and even had rules as "recently" as the 3E book (delightful tome that it was, blessings of Gork- or possibly Mork- be to Andy Chambers) and even has a Contrast paint named after him; give him a new model, GW! Ogors are the first August release with the army box. Well, look at what they previewed the other day, that's what will be coming up over the next 2 months. If none of them are big releases, what is: - very large ogor refresh - brand new edition of necromunda with a starter box - new blood bowl game format and start box - relaunch of old world with a refreshed chaos range and new starter box - exodites - round 2 of cuatodes with their special branding Some of that has to land in August and I'd argue half it is more of a big deal than a codex release. However, here's hoping he resembles the John Blanche art from 2nd Ed. 29 minutes ago, Mogger351 said: Well, look at what they previewed the other day, that's what will be coming up over the next 2 months. First codex of 11th is a big deal. However, you do prove the point that there's plenty to drop in August. Ogor box goes up this weekend so presumably the rest will drop late August/ September. That leaves space for kill team and blood bowl which could conclude the August release. TheWarmaster
Now all we need for Ork players is new huge chunky meganobz and a big beefy battlewagon for them to ride in. I hope they get that! I wouldn't go quite that far, and in fact one thing I really like about the new Ork stuff is how well it meshes with the older models (helped admittedly by the natural variation in Ork physiology), but new Nobz will be interesting. Mogger351
I wasn't super happy narratively to see shoota and slugga boyz going away, but sort of understand it. I wasnt super happy to see they now magically get all 3 specials for every 10 in a lovely regimented manner, but its a plague for most kits now so meh. But 2 nobz in a unit might be a bridge too far for me now I've realised its a thing. It can represent groups that have mobbed up. There's ways of explaining it. Unless of course you were happy running a mix of sluggas and shootas? As a death skulls player then my boyz have clearly looted well and carry well. I'm not sure that running 1 heavy weapon per ten boyz vs 3 per ten boyz is any more or less regimented. However, the special weapons may lead to seeing more boyz on the table which isn't a bad thing as they should be at the core of forces. To me it's like having intercessors getting 1 sergeant per 5 etc. Fluff wise a unit of boyz has always been led by a singular nob as the biggest boy to be in charge. Having to bend the fluff to work round the fact 1 model in the box is too big for an alt build is not a good sign. I can let the rest slip, it's just if you applied the same logic to more units it gets really dumb really fast. Frogian
it does seem a bit odd we've gone from 8th ed changes to mono weapons profiles for each unit to giving 3 types of heavy weapons all at once to a 10man battleline unit, especially when there is no points penalty for taking them. irlLordy
Max squads of guardsmen also have two Sgts in them now, so its not new to Orks. I guess you can explain it fluffwise as two squads (or mobs) working together for the duration of the battle. Frogian
I feel the guardsmen thing makes a lot of sense in terms of you would actually structure army infantry, but two Nobz doesn't really seem in line with ork nature. one of the things lost due to the changes in how points work is the fun of oddly sized units for things that would be so in the lore Mogger351 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388249-multi-part-ork-boyz-death-mire-detachments/page/3/#findComment-6180075 Share on other sites
