Lord Marshal
Rest in spaghetti, Firstborn. Quote Yes, the new Codex: Space Marines is on the way, and the Adeptus Astartes are undergoing some serious improvements. Your basic warriors are becoming Strength 5 – that includes combat knives, chainswords AND bolt pistols. Meanwhile, Intercessor bolt rifles now have two fire modes – one that’s Strength 5 and the other a whopping Strength 6. Warriors in Tacticus plate are also moving to Toughness 5! Quote Heretic Astartes and Codex-divergent Chapters will get similar boosts to bring them in line with these new rules, so everyone can enjoy Toughness 6 Terminators firing Strength 5 storm bolters. These will automatically update in Warhammer 40,000: The App when Codex: Space Marines launches in October. Quote As with Legends rules, Legendary Proxies can be used at home, in stores, clubs, and campaigns, but if attending a competitive Warhammer event, these units should only be used with the permission of the event organiser. The following units are leaving the codex and becoming Legendary Proxies. Tactical Squad – counts as an Intercessor Squad Devastator Squad – counts as a Desolation Squad Suppressor Squad – counts as an Inceptor Squad Pedro Kantor – counts as a Captain Uriel Ventris – counts as a Captain Quote These units are leaving the codex, but will get Warhammer Legends rules: Centurion Assault Squad Centurion Devastator Squad Razorback Predator Destructor Predator Annihilator Vindicator Whirlwind Stormhawk Interceptor Stormtalon Gunship Stormraven Gunship Hammerfall Bunker Edited Monday at 03:58 PM by Lord Marshal Doghouse, StrangerOrders, Antarius and 5 others 2 2 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388419-codex-space-marines-multi-part-intercessor-vanguard-vet-teaser-legends-culling/ Share on other sites
Lord Nord in Gravis Armour
I am in favor of the differentiation between Tacticus and Phobos. Bringing the standard Astartes one step closer to being a walking tank (albeit still many steps FROM that goal) is hard to hate. ChapterMasterGodfrey
I feel so vindicated right now, to the point I think GW owe me a consulting fee. Lord Marshal
Video also mentioned the codex supplements would be being retired, but whether or not this just means they're being index'ed until new ones drop or it's foreshadowing a return to Codex: Space Wolves etc I guess is up for debate. At least until 12th when they'll probably go back to Supplements again, then back to full Codexes, so on. Orange Knight
The actual rules and stat-lines sound brilliant. Basically what we've always wanted, and it makes perfect sense. Light armour = less toughness and faster movement? Yes please. The units going to legends are as expected. It appears the rumors were all true. GW can consolidate and streamline some of the units here across all the armies. For example - I don't feel that Space Wolves should have access to Intercessors now that they have their unique troop variants. Looking at what GW have done here, they could say that Space Wolf Intercessors count as Grey Hunters, and Bladeguard Veterans count as Head Takers. Really lean into the thematic aspect of all the chapters, make it more of a give and take arrangement, etc etc. Edited Monday at 04:13 PM by Orange Knight Malakithe, MoriyaSchism and Subtleknife 1 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388419-codex-space-marines-multi-part-intercessor-vanguard-vet-teaser-legends-culling/#findComment-6183732 Share on other sites

A step backwards in terms of variety. I hope there are more bits on the sprue. I like the bling on the Bike Captain, but I'm worried that eagle head of the front wheel is going to block los for the twin bolters - reserving judgement for better angles... sitnam
I'm baffled that the Orks kept their planes but the Marines have lost theirs. Crimson Longinus
It's a bit weird, that due the s6 and d2 of the focused fire profile, marines now actually kill other marines way easier than before. I think most of the buffs seem fineish, but I'm not at all sure that d2 on the basic weapon of the battleline unit of the most common army in the game is such a great idea. TSons in particular are gonna be waiting for their codex for the edition's new Psychic system regardless, same as Grey Knights and I can't see GW pushing us earlier in the edition to make up for that. Also yet again Deathguard coming out on top of the hypothetical worst scenario by Virtue of actually getting unique and thematically appropriate vehicles in the one edition they were a launch faction and thus being least effected if all CSM and Cult factions lose the Predators and Vindicators. Blindhamster
Intercessors look better than current ones. Similar variety of armour bits to grey hunters it looks like… need more details though, like, what is the head variety like? Do we get any alternative leg or chest pieces? I’m hoping for more knives. lol. the base marine profiles I like, it’s important to note they are apparently coming with price hikes so you just won’t ever be fielding as many. glad to see it’s a blanket update. interested to see what the long term outlook for divergent chapters will actually be. Orange Knight
I think the new Intercessors look good, but over the years I've customised my squads with helmets, weapons, etc, and as a result I don't see any need in buying the new kit. Vanguard look good to me, I don't see issues with them. I would probably have all of mine grounded on the base, so I would use Sternguard bodies, then add the Vanguard weapons, jump pack, etc mel_danes and LSM 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388419-codex-space-marines-multi-part-intercessor-vanguard-vet-teaser-legends-culling/#findComment-6183805 Share on other sites
