Legends in the app should handle a lot of the complaints of it being unable to be used.

I also like the specific call out for "Counts-as".  Other miniatures games have become more explicit about this, nice to see GW taking the same reigns.

Hesitant about T5 but I think it's at least an interesting change.  We going up to T7/8 as Death Guard now?

I think the new Intercessors look good, but over the years I've customised my squads with helmets, weapons, etc, and as a result I don't see any need in buying the new kit.

Vanguard look good to me, I don't see issues with them.

I would probably have all of mine grounded on the base, so I would use Sternguard bodies, then add the Vanguard weapons, jump pack, etc

Seems like grenade launchers get a boost and the hand flames goes up to S4 and those carbines get precision? Nice

The frag shot also has fixed 4 attacks.

Grenade launcher being str10, damage 3, and 2 shots at 12" is brilliant.

Who needs a Plasma Gun? Bow down to the mighty Krak!

My goodness those are some bland Vanguard Veterans. Almost all of the grieves are copies from the Sternguard (minus flipping which leg they gonna on), they couldn't even put some trim or something on their jump packs? At least the monopose ones had a couple of grounded poses to mix it up a little bit. I wasn't expecting the world, but I am a bit disappointed

Intercessors are fine I guess. I expected more variety but thats probably my fault. Maybe the full box reveal will be better

intercessors actual rules look interesting too..

+1 to hit with ranged attacks when on an objective or attacking an enemy on an objective

being able to perform actions and shoot

being able to perform actions even if battleshocked or engaged

The unit will be over 100 points for 5, surely?

I am really glad they are not festooned with tacky gold filigree. (Too bad the new captain's bike wasn't spared.) Overall, the veterans look good. I just hope they write the rules so that there is a reason to take other weapon options than the hammer & shield.

Its your choice wether to paint it in gold

I'd prefer the Codex space marines to be a little more bland at basic and then come with bits to festoon them with; this lets everyone give as much bling as they want while still making a  somewhat bling-y baseline.  These Space Marines HAVE to work for all types of chapters, so being basic isn't as much of a negative here as it was for something like the Sanguinary Guard.

How good they are will hinge on how much stuff they add in for us to throw at them.  Old heads like myself still have thousands and thousands of bits to throw at them, but new people are important to cater to as well so making sure there's stuff to use is important.

It seems like you only get one hammer for the Sgt. I do wonder if there will be any difference between swords and axes.

Imagine what Bobby G and the Lion are going to look like.

Glad I bought a Vindicator when I did now.

A sad day for sure to see the last vestiges of real non-Poochie Marines gone, also straight-up erasing Devastators and having them counts-as Desolators is pathetic. Yes, the variety of ways you can build and equip Devastators is totally represented on the tabletop by those stupid Nerf guns...

I did have a spiteful cackle to see Suppressors in the bin where they belong though.

That's an interesting shakeup of the old formula, I'm looking forward how it will play out.

That said, I was always a proponent of the T value being inherit to the physiology of the warrior (e.g. all space marines being the same T with extremely few eceptions) rather than representing toughness brought forth by armour and the like.

to be fair, desolation squad have great rules. rubbish models. Now you can model a unit with the models you like and have carte blanche to ignore the models and have the great rules... so you can have them with the archetypal heavy bolters and not have the unit suck... for example. It's really not so bad there.

I'm sad to see suppressors go for the rules, the models were never good though.

They will have Master Crafted Power Weapons, so no I reckon they'll all just the same rules, except the sergeant who i guess will mandatory need a hammer... in less we get a full relic blade profile for the two handed sword maybe.

I feel they missed such a big opportunity with intercessors. They should have squished assault intercessors and intercessors together (which saves a datasheet).

Then given them both bolter and chainsword. For the 5th model, the marine can exchange his bolter for a plasma, melta or flamer etc. That way you could have quite a few unique actions from throwing grenades, chopping with the chainsword or aiming with the bolter etc.

You would also have a super versatile unit for marines. I just don't see much difference from the old intercessor kit.

When I heard the first rumours from Valrak I rushed out to buy three Predators, a Vindicator and a Whirlwind. I would have bought one or two more Rhino chassis vehicles, but no one bought my Inceptors. Thankfully the Rhino isn't going away any time soon, so I still have time to buy one more chassis for my Rhino Primaris upgrade frame in the future.

I bought a couple of Predators purely based on the rumours. I don't regret buying them but seriously had to put on the rose tinted glasses to pretend it came anywhere near to as nice a kit as the Heresy one!

Imagine if they just rolled out the redone FW Mars Pattern range with all the bells and whistles (razorback turrets, tarantula stand for said turrets, all the various missile launcher patterns, radomes/sensor packages and extra armour accessories). New Rhino chassis sculpts instead of the flying :cuss:boxes that is Repulsor family. I like the quality of the plastic Deimos kits, but the Vindicator and Whirlwind Scorpius are the only Deimos Pattern vehicles I like. Round doors and exposed smoke stacks just aren't my thing. I do like Sicarans, Sabres and Arquitors a lot. Would be nice to see the last two in plastic. As much as I adore the look of the kit 150 euro for a single tank that's not even Land Raider size is insanity.

If I had my way the Primaris range for generic Space Marines it would be 6 kits at most. Tactical Intercessors, Assault Intercessors (with or without jumpacks in the same box like the old assault squad), Primaris Devastators, one Phobos kit with all the options (Eliminator guns included), Vanguard and Sternguard Veterans. Mold and sprue space for all the superflous nonsense (like Inceptors, Aggressors, Heavy Intercessors, three different Phobos kits and so on) would be repurposed for vehicles and upgrade frames that are worth the price (not a collection of 30 bare heads with 10 helmets).
