Legends in the app should handle a lot of the complaints of it being unable to be used.

I also like the specific call out for "Counts-as".  Other miniatures games have become more explicit about this, nice to see GW taking the same reigns.

Hesitant about T5 but I think it's at least an interesting change.  We going up to T7/8 as Death Guard now?

I think the new Intercessors look good, but over the years I've customised my squads with helmets, weapons, etc, and as a result I don't see any need in buying the new kit.

Vanguard look good to me, I don't see issues with them.

I would probably have all of mine grounded on the base, so I would use Sternguard bodies, then add the Vanguard weapons, jump pack, etc

Seems like grenade launchers get a boost and the hand flames goes up to S4 and those carbines get precision? Nice

The frag shot also has fixed 4 attacks.

I've mentioned it in other places, but GW has a fantastic opportunity to retire the old vindicator/rhino/predator/land raider kits and simply re-purpose the newer(yet older)  plastic kits they have in Horus Heresy. Take the same sprues and add in a new chaos conversion sprue. Take it a step further and add in a sprue for each god legion. OR at least a few bits. BAM! Hardly any extra effort required and motor pool cleanly updated for chaos. Furthering the divide between chaos and space marines. Chaos keeps the old-school spikey tracked stuff, Marines can have their grav tanks.

I mean there's already scouring stuff coming up. Highly likely we'll get nostalgia baited with mk7s, predators, land raiders, etc. etc.

My goodness those are some bland Vanguard Veterans. Almost all of the grieves are copies from the Sternguard (minus flipping which leg they gonna on), they couldn't even put some trim or something on their jump packs? At least the monopose ones had a couple of grounded poses to mix it up a little bit. I wasn't expecting the world, but I am a bit disappointed

Intercessors are fine I guess. I expected more variety but thats probably my fault. Maybe the full box reveal will be better

I'm willing to bet that the Scouring will be mostly reboxes with a couple of new vehicle kits. Imagine an Old World style rebox things like old Assault Squad or some other long gone kits like the Stalker/Hunter.

The stalker / hunter has to remain Oop, it's the only way I can justify having two of each

There is no way MK7 infantry would be old reboxes, they’ll take the standard heresy infantry and assault squad model like they have down with Mk2/3/4/6 so far.  Perhaps with a specific devastator squad added in.

Well, it was inevitable but I am still a little sad/disappointed. A little surprised they took this long to do it and getting rid of the Rhino variants seems strange. They must have plans to replace them with something.

I agree, it'll be a new build/design following the HH proportions (smaller heads and hands than 40k, slightly closer to true scale and less heroic scale), and they'll almost certainly do both a tactical and assault set. It's printing money realistically.

intercessors actual rules look interesting too..

+1 to hit with ranged attacks when on an objective or attacking an enemy on an objective

being able to perform actions and shoot

being able to perform actions even if battleshocked or engaged

And although I'm a bit of a broken record with this at this point, older editions do still exist where you can still use older models and a lot of the models you could still use in in late Heresy as well.

I would absolutely hate for that to happen. I hate the Horus Heresy 2.0/3.0 scale, weird Necromunda style scale with with nearly skintight helmets. It's Space Marine Heroes Series 1 but with tiny hands and heads, just looks off.

The unit will be over 100 points for 5, surely?

I am really glad they are not festooned with tacky gold filigree. (Too bad the new captain's bike wasn't spared.) Overall, the veterans look good. I just hope they write the rules so that there is a reason to take other weapon options than the hammer & shield.

The box art will have seven fingers, so you know it's 'FRESH'.

I'd prefer the Codex space marines to be a little more bland at basic and then come with bits to festoon them with; this lets everyone give as much bling as they want while still making a  somewhat bling-y baseline.  These Space Marines HAVE to work for all types of chapters, so being basic isn't as much of a negative here as it was for something like the Sanguinary Guard.

How good they are will hinge on how much stuff they add in for us to throw at them.  Old heads like myself still have thousands and thousands of bits to throw at them, but new people are important to cater to as well so making sure there's stuff to use is important.

It seems like you only get one hammer for the Sgt. I do wonder if there will be any difference between swords and axes.

Seems like they could have been more aggressive with the Proxy rules. Predators as gladiators, Centurions as Aggressors, etc.

32mm base is hard to be too upset with when stuff comes out at different heights, while having models that for most situations look very similar.

Centurions and Aggressors are on very different sized bases (10mm might not seem like a lot but it is), and don't even look sort of similar.

Gladiator/predator is a different silhouette and size.  Legends rules is fine enough.
