I bought a couple of Predators purely based on the rumours. I don't regret buying them but seriously had to put on the rose tinted glasses to pretend it came anywhere near to as nice a kit as the Heresy one!

To be absolutely honest and fair the HH vehicles are lovely kits, I've built a Deimos Rhino and Land Raider Proteus, and I'm very much looking forwards to building the Whirlwind I've got in the stash. That said I actually don't much like the look of the Deimos Vindicator; it's OK but it doesn't hold a candle to the Phobos version with the big ol' siege shield and offset demolisher cannon.

I never had a problem with the Phobos Rhino derived kits in all honesty and I feel like it had aged incredibly well (the Land Raider, however...). At the very least a Razorback is a very easy conversion from a Rhino.

Couple thoughts:

- no lightning claws?

- I hope phobos get considerably better bolters as well.

- RIP suppressors. They never even got a kit

Phobos guns are going to S5 too, and will likely have some weapon abilities  to go with them. Infiltrator datasheet was shown off in the video.

I'm seeing a lot of people say "I'm done with 40k" in response to the end of tac squads. I'm quite saddened, but rather than giving in I feel bolstered and more motivated to put time into making guys with classic options and probably just use older rulesets, possibly with tweaks like 2W marines and such.

I will not abandon classic 40k. I will continue it in my own small way. Many will jump ship for HH, but all I think that will accomplish is the acceleration of 40k's decline. I will fight against the dying of the light.

Little confused over the 'Legends' and 'Legendary Proxies', does that mean the units that become 'Legendary Proxies' won't get rules in the 'Legends' PDF or will they but you can run them as such units if you wanted?

Yes to the first one.

Tactical squads (if you want to use the old models) will just use the rules for intercessors (the grenade launcher is more powerful than the old missile launcher ever was) and aren't going to be in the app.

Predators are going to get updated rules/points and will appear in the app but won't be tournament legal and won't probably be adjusted again. Or at least until a new model comes out based on the rumoured new rhino kit.

Unsurprising but sad to see the rest of the Rhino chassis kits go, especially the Vindicator, as it's probably the one that I think is the best looking compared to the Diemos version. Same with the Tactical and Devastators, not surprising at all, still disappointing.

As for the new kits, Intercessors are definitely disappointing, I was holding out hope that the multipart kit would actually be interesting, unfortunately it apparently is just more of the bare minimum from the launch box. As for the Vanvets, at least they didn't lose all of their weapon options along with their drip?

Yes, it means they aren't getting a legends entry at all. Legendary Proxies are nonsense from the start of 10th Edition, when they decided that the FW resin characters don't even deserve to have legends rules so they made this chart that said "Tyberios the Red Wake <-> Terminator Captain" and then once enough time had passed they quietly deleted that .pdf file.

Well bollocks. I guess there goes my planned DA successor chapter then, I had hopped that Tacticals and Devastators would get legends rules like the assault marines did but I suppose hope is the first step on the road to disappointment...

Im just going to use legends on my pick up games this edition, screw it!

Weirdly Castraferrum dreads are not mentioned, so they are still a thing? I hope they are, its just too iconic to die.

There's talk of a new ven dread, which would replace the boxnaut mini without legendsing the unit maybe.

But that will obviously be a redemptor variant, so it would be weird for a lot smaller castaferrum to be a proxy for it.

I find it somewhat disappointing that people are acting like GW have ordered their execution for getting rid of the Firstborn Marines like they haven't been Playable for 9 YEARS after they would have otherwise been replaced.

ETA:

Consider that there are people playing 40k now who weren't even out of Preschool when Primaris first rolled in. They're not "new" Marines anymore, they're old enough to start getting refreshes of their own and all this time they've been sharing a codex with kits that in any other army they would've replaced on launch.

I hope this happens. I don't care how it is done or how bad it is. They need to keep shafting people's marine armies till people start to understand how anti consumer it is, and why it shouldn't even happen, we have all sorts of other armies to show that it is totally possible to just be normal and update things properly, but Marine players seem to just gleefully smile and nod when they get their armies deleted and replaced entirely and the ones not happy about it get laughed out of the room.

I think you misunderstand refresh.

they're literally getting a refresh now, replacement intercessors etc. Much like tactical marines used to get every couple of editions.

Just gotta wait that GW culls venerable dread and/or makes another upgrade sprue to redemeptor, now that it doesn´t "burn out" the pilot anymore

I know what he meant by refresh.

I just don't care how he put it. I want them to to keep removing and replacing things till people finally stop just taking it and actually suggest GW stop being anti consumer atleast a little.

I know it won't happen, cause i have seen what makes other marine players cheer but one can dream people have some sort of standard and adhere to it.

I know what I mean by refresh and Blindhamster is correct.

They are literally refreshing the Intercessors kit this edition, in the same way they're refreshing the Boyz kit this edition as well.

I'm a big fan of the idea of marine armies getting smaller and more elite, but 11th is already feeling like GW are going to inevitably go way too far with stat/codex creep. Guess time will tell. But it's good to see they've learned from the farce that was CSM's nearly 20 month wait for their second wound back in 9th.

Will it though?

You know they can rescale the castaferrum if they want.

If they rescale the Castafertum I doubt its actually going to be that much larger.

They were designed to be Small enough for boarding operations and the Redemptor chassis is too big for that.

That said it may pick up some redemptor traits regardless, if only to look "consistent" (personally I'm expecting either "baby redemptor" if they go for a redesign or a "Veterans only" blinged-out character model if they just rescale suitable for upgrade-kitting into someone like Bjorn if needs be).

And they could have rescaled old marines instead of making primaris, but they didn't. Redemptor is the marine dread look now, the new venerable dread will be designed to visually match that.

Besides, even if they were to rescale castaferrum to be redemptor size, the old castaferrum would still be a questionable proxy because it is massively smaller.

They didn't initially because people demanded a Lore reason for the refresh after being hit with the classic "It's always been like this" too many times, so they listened to the community, made it a big Lore thing and have spent the last 9 years paying the price for it.

I still wouldn’t be so sure they will base it on the Redemptor.  MKX is the standard look for Marines now, but they still kept and refreshed the classic Terminator look, rather than replacing it with something MKXish.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happened here.

GW will just change or ignore the fluff if they want to do a bigger castaferrum.

So you just want people to be miserable?

Can we put an end to the endless doom hammer? It's been 9 years, and it's played out at this point.

If by paying the price you mean "made record sales and record profits" then I guess they have...

They'd be paying the repair and maintenance costs of keeping nearly decade old kit moulds functioning while also having a loud chunk of the community scream at them whenever something got updated (most of that damage has been taken by the social media teams tho).
