Mogger351
There have been some comments over on TGA of all places about the Tau release and not to excite @Chapter Master Valrak much, talk of titans. People mentioned the rumour engine with the railgun and a reliable poster named Whitefang Back Me Up responded with: "The Supreme Commander approaches." They were then asked if the rumours of the crisis/broadside suits are accurate and we get: "Don't forget the Impact Battesuits! But of course before T'au we have the other codex first." When someone was sad about the wait we get: "Do you own any Titans?" So this leaves us with Valraks much rumoured plastic Warhound and Codex: Titans, followed by Codex Tau with a new commander, broadside, crisis suits and "impact suits". 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/ Share on other sites
Evil Eye
New Crisis suits and Broadside? redmapa
Codex Titans? Finally something to put those uppity Custodes in their place amongst the hordes! They were getting a bit too comftorable being "The Elite army", this will show them what true elite is when all you have is a one model army! But seriously I cant believe that Titans are getting their own codex, that sounds crazy to me but if they did surely Imperial and Chaos Knights should be part of it in some way.. 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193439 Share on other sites
ZeroWolf
Codex titans sounds a bit...far fetched to me especially without knowing the sources track record so that's definitely a wait and see. Not to mention that for it to be the next codex out, it would have been leaked before now, unless, it guess it was online only. As all original rumours stated that the release order was custodes and then Tau (after which is either Dark Eldar or Nids). 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193440 Share on other sites

Titan may look like a one model army, but you will need to take into account also the multitude of princeps, moderati, enginseers and servitors contained within. As for the custodes, there is also the risk that somebody decides that they will need their own titan version (which would no doubt boost the sales of gold paint). As for Tau, good to hear that somebody remembers that they still exist. Though I am left wondering what will be role of the rumoured Impact battlesuits. Lathe Biosas
I Could see Titanicus being combined into Imperial/Chaos Knights, or perhaps a part of Adeptus Mechanicus... but it seems odd for them to release a full codex based around a model or 3... Wait, what am I saying? That's exactly what Imperial Knights is. 3 models, many different arms. Maybe it is true... Maybe it's an Apocalypse style game mode, with the Titan as it's centerpiece. They had a separate mission in HH 3.0 for if someone wanted to play with Titans. This could be the same type of thing. Marshal Rohr
The year is 2027. The only armies on the table are titans, Tau Gundam, and Six custodians. A tactical squad now costs 120 dollars. 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193450 Share on other sites
Mogger351
I think a lot of people are forgetting that a warhound has valid imperial armour rules now and if they want people to use it in mainline 40k they'll need to shove it in a codex since that's what they mandate for their release process. It doesn't need to be a specialist game mode, or some apocalypse miniature, it doesn't mean that it had to be out already as the gap between custodes and tau is an unknown duration. A smaller cheaper codex, maybe a unique damage mechanic for each system/limb on the titan, 2-3 datasheets for arm combinations, double that for chaos and imperial, give them an allies rule/section and you're good to go in theory. Blissful Brushes
I could see Titans working in some way or other allied to Admech or Knights certainly. From what I understand in most games they’re massively over pointed so despite the fact they’re big enough to actually beat someone to death with, they’re not great. Rebalancing them, making them plastic and giving them the option to have Admech or knights seems thematic to me. if they are releasing a plastic, there has to be a way to play it otherwise there’s not going to a massive need to buy one other than because it’s cool 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193459 Share on other sites

The source has an extremely good track record, but I'd note that the source didn't technically say "Codex: Titans". Just that before T'au there would be something to do with Titans. (Which could be a Warhound, maybe with a Codex: Titans... or maybe added to Codex: Imperial Knights. Or maybe it's some other oblique reference that will only make sense in retrospect - like a new Grey Knights unit called the "Titan's Titans" releasing alongside Codex: Grey Knights.) 1 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193462 Share on other sites

I'd agree but it feels you're having to do a lot of gymnastics to avoid the obvious inference of a codex titans. We have a knights sprue in the wild stamped 2028, so it isn't likely them. I don't think anyone has every referred to grey knights as "the titans" before either. Jings
A Codex Adeptus Titanicus covering Knights, the fabled Warhound and some special Mechanicus chaff doesn't sound too bad to me. GW will want to shift the Warhound to more than just the whales and hobbyists, so it'll need to some form of rules support. Combining it with Knights is one way to get it into a book and, seeing as there's almost always been a way to get some chaff in with Knights through allies, throwing in some minor character and infantry support in could get very well tie it together as a legitimate faction. Interesting stuff. No comment on the Tau bar my usual confusion regarding the Crisis Suits needing a replacement when they seem fine to me all things considered. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193466 Share on other sites

"Titan's Titans" specifically was tongue-in-cheek; but I was more just trying to throw out something as an example. Like the source is the same one who originally said (paraphrasing) "there will be no Fyreslayer Battletome in AoS 4th edition". Which was true, but because the Fyreslayers were folded into Battletome: Khazalite Holds. // Edit: I will add that I do think the most-likely thing it is referencing is the previously rumoured plastic Warhound. Galron
If they bring back the XV-9 Hazard suits then I am totally in. Those were my favorite suits in the Tau army back in the day. Two twin burst cannons go brrrrr! Plus they had some sort of grenade fall back rule but its been over a decade and I cant remember specifics. I had almost the full suite of HQ crisis suits with all their lackluster but really cool looking add-ons. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388743-tau-rumours/#findComment-6193476 Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
I miss the days that had Tau pilots ejecting from their suits and running about the battlefield willynilly. But... if they made the Tau Supremecy Armour in plastic... I'm afraid I'd have to play Tau too. Mogger351
I have nothing to baae this off, all pure conjecture in my head but I just cant see crisis suits remaining as a 3 man unit as-is. They'll likely get slightly embiggened as GW is likely to do for a redesign and bigger/more dynamic = more sprue space. They know they can only push it so far, so I sort of suspect crisis suits will end up being bigger 60mm base models in 2s at a similar price point in cashmoney as today but more points per head and tougher. The other route is that I can't see them wanting to keep 3 datasheets for them either, hence may well end up with obliterator style pick 1 of 3 profile shooting attacks, hence the weapons in the box matter less. I also can see bigger 80mm broadsides that are units of 1-2 becoming a thing. Interestingly if they do get a size bump it leaves the 40-50mm suit space empty for something new. NapyDaWise
A good way to get more space on the crisis suit sprues is to remove most of the drones. I think they'll move the suits to be 2 drones per squad max, like the stealth suits. That give them plenty of room for battlesuits slightly bigger (they only really need longer legs), and some weapon options. If I were them I'd go the Horus Heresy route of having the battlesuits on 1 or 2 sprues and the weapons on another, allowing them to make 2 different boxes with different weapon and equipement, and maybe even a 4th variant. Griefbringer
14 hours ago, Madao said: My wish: GW moves Broadside's railgun back to their shoulder I would not mind that, the current "holding gun in two hands" look does not really suit a battlesuit in my opinion. (No pun intended.) However, there was back in the day a very neat Forge World resin variant that had the two railguns attached to separately to left and right arms, for a very dynamic look (though maybe a pain to assemble as a resin kit), with the missiles mounted on the shoulders. I think an ideal set-up would be a flexible kit where you could stick the railguns either to the shoulders or to the arms, whichever way you prefer. As for things presently available only in resin, would be nice to see the sniper drone set (released in metal ca. 2005) getting transitioned to plastic. I think it is a very characterful looking little kit - there is more to Tau than just various sizes of battlesuits.
