The Garren Project

Astartes Consul

Recommended Posts

The rumble of massive engines, the clanking of tracks, and the roaring of Heavy Bolters sounded the advance of the Crusading Lions towards the entrenched Chaos forces guarding the 30 meter tall Black Obelisk centered in a Summoning Circle more than 50 meters across. Captain Riss watched his brothers advance through the augmentics of his helmet's displays, observing each six marine squad spill from their transports to march behind the protective bulk of their Razorbacks. Lascannons spat coherent light spears into the bulwarks of the Enemies's trench works, carving gaping holes and melting through the exteriors of revetments and defenders alike.

Heavy Bolters roared death at the Enemy and whole rows of cultists died in their tracks, blown to pieces and a fine mist of blood-spray by the mass-reactive rounds. The Space Marine Captain smiled as the Land Raider Crusader drew near enough for it's hull mounted Assault Cannons to blaze long tongues of flame from their muzzles, chewing more cultists into fragments while the upper hull mounted Multi-Melta's rounds melted gaping holes in the redoubt directly in front of the massive tank. Through his comm-bead the Captain could hear Chaplain Lantee's prayers and exhortations to his brothers to meet the Foe and bring the just retribution of the Great Lion of Terra to the warped heretics. His damnation of the Enemy and Prayers of Blessing for his brothers both bringing comfort to Riss as he awaited with his command squad to charge into the developing fray.

The Land Raider shook and rang as a round from a semi-hidden Chaos Defiler glanced off the thick armor of the tank's upper carapace. Return fire, in the form of three twin-linked lascannons from the advancing Razorbacks, carved deep holes into the Heretical war machine's thick armored hide. At least one of which vaporized the pilot in his armored coffin deep inside the machine. More lascannons fired, returning the fire of a pair of Chaos Dreadnoughts who had just destroyed a pair of Heavy Bolter armed Razorbacks on the flanks. Captain Riss watched his heads-up display as the squads assigned to the destroyed vehicles clambered aboard the smoking hulks and took cover quickly, setting up their Devastator Squad heavy weapons and taking the Enemy under fire while their Sergeant-Apothecary treated the wounded and retrieved the gene-seen of the fallen.

Riss nodded and murmured a prayer for the souls of his fallen brothers. Praying that the Great Lion of Terra welcome them into the Beyond, where their service to HIM upon the Throne for all time to come. The Captain's attention was taken that instant by the sight in his display of accurate shots from both Land Raider's Multi-Meltas, enlarging the gaping hole shot earlier into the primary bunker thought to house the Heretic's headquarters. Riss rubbed Shalanni's ears and looked into the Simba's eyes. "Very soon my friend. We Hunt."

The Simba growled low in his throat and blinked up at his long-time friend and companion. The huge lion's eagerness for battle betrayed by the quivering of the tufted tip of his tail, and the constant shifting from paw to paw, as if preparing to leap through the great metal doors of the Crusader's front ramp doors and being the slaying of the Prey. Riss noted the speed of the Crusader's advance and switched his comm-bead to squad level with a thought. "The Great Lion smiles upon us, my brothers. The way is prepared and our Prey is at hand. My HE upon the Throne guide our claws to slay the Foe and bring the Lion's Justice to foulness tainting this world!"

Shalanni roared while the squad roared the chapter's battlecry. "Purity of Essence! Purity of Faith!"

The ramp doors opened with a tremendous clang of metal upon metal, and the Captain and his eight Terminators charged forth into the teeth of Heretical gunfire, Lightning Claws blazing and swinging to rend and dismember the Foe and pursue them when they fled from the huge forms of armored lions on two legs. Shalanni leaped and spun, his fangs and claws rending and biting, tearing flesh and rending life from his Prey in an orgy of destructiveness only matched by the Terminators and their Captain as they pressed the advantage of their surprise entry deep into the command bunker's dark bowels.

Chaplain Lantee led his own squad into the command bunker, roaring prayers to the Great Lion and curses down upon the heads of the Foe while the power field around his Crozius glowed and sparked with each smashing blow upon a Heritic's head or body. Lantee hewed and smashed all before him, his squad as frenzied as he in their efforts to kill and maim in the Great Lion's name. A Chaos Champion stepped forth from the mass of cultist followers mobbing back from the squad's advance, whirling a dark blade that seemed to drink the light and spat fat black sparks as the champion whirled it about him, uncaring if his blade bit Marine or cultist. Rapid blows were exchanged between the Chaplain and Champion, their weapons mere blurs in the hands of experts honed and forged in the fires of countless battles. For several minutes, Lantee was too busy to note the tide of battle, and yet he never ceased to roar out his prayers and exhortations to his squad while his Crozius met every blow that the champion could deliver.

The Chaplain broke from the battle and stepped back, gesturing to Sergeant Parvant and his squad with the glowing lion's head of his Crozius. "He is yours my brothers. Take him." Twelve Lighting Claws and a Thunder Hammer struck the Chaos Champion. What remained was hardly to be described as a body, since it was now in dozens of pieces, the head caved into the torso by Parvant's hammer. Bodies and parts of bodies were piled thigh deep in the bunker and the marines waded through the morass of viscera towards the sound of battle in another chamber deeper in the structure.

Riss stood within the deepest chamber of the bunker and snarled an oath. The throne-like place where the chaos leader should have sat was empty, the room dusty from dis-use, the Prey absent and from all indications, never present for the battle raging outside. The Captain trembled, forcing himself to stand in place and think, while every fibre of his being cried out to rend and slash all traces of the foulness that surrounded him on all sides until he could lift his lightning clawed hands no more. He stood there for minutes, praying and controlling himself until he could activate his comm-bead and call forward the Pride's Techmarine to examine this sanctum of the Enemy for clues to the Foe's location.

Riss whirled as an armored hand clapped his shoulder, only to retract the deadly glowing claws and deactivate them when he recognized Chaplain Lantee's Lion Helm and Leonine Crozius.

Lantee face displayed a wan smile as he recognized the spring-tight control and frown upon his leader's face. "Robbed of the Prize Brother Riss, but victory will be ours none the less. The Great Lion smiles upon us again."

Riss shook himself like a lion ridding himself of some small, pesky annoyance, and blinked in the wan light of the black candles about him. "HE is not here Father Lion. He never was here. He's escaped our claws again." The captain looked about himself with more detachment in his hazel eyed gaze and absently stroked Shalanni's mane with a gauntleted hand. "Penance I will pay Father, later, but WHEN will we be granted the boon of killing that Demon? An entire Pride taken in by yet another ruse! Hundreds of his own dead at our hands, and yet HE remains untouched!"

The Chaplain shook his head and sighed. "It is not for the likes of us to ask when, in the Lion's Great Plan, we shall play our part." He patted the armored shoulder of his captain and brother again, more gently. "It is but given to us to serve HIM upon the Throne. And it is HIM that shall lead our Prey to us, when HE feels it is time, no sooner. Remember that Brother Captain Riss, and penance enough for this day's work shall be done."

Riss shook his head and gestured to his command squad. The Techmarine, with a Tactical Squad for protection had arrived and it was time to clear the way for the Servant of the Machine God to do is work. Perhaps, somewhere in the mass of tomes and carvings, or within the powered-down mass of the cogitator in the corner, would be the answer to what had been so important that the Prey was not present at the site of summoning found by the Ordo Heriticus' servants.

Riss and Lantee left the chamber deep in the heart of the bunker, striding out towards the ebbing sound of battle in the trenches above. Both wondering if the battle was yet truly over.

here it is, enjoy!

THE EMPERORS CRUSADERS

Origins:

The Emperors Crusaders date back from the time of the Horus Heresy. They are not listed as any of the second founding chapters and I have only aquired the folowing information at extream lengths. Accurate information on the Heresy is hard to come by, it has been imbelished to the extent that some more hertetical storys tell of the four gods of chaos walking on earth, this I know will never happen while loyal servants of the Emperor still draw breath but thenmanaged to reach Terra in time, these were the Imperial Fists, the Blood Angles and The White Scars. Terra held great importance to the Imperial Fists because it was their homeworld, their Primarch Rogal Dorn led his marines on the defence of thier Fortress Mnestary, to their iternal credt they held the Fortress as a bastion against Horus for the intire battle, even when itwas reduced to rubble. However, when Rogal Dorn was summoned by the Emperor to board Horus's battle barge,he took a small bodyguard of loyal warriors with him.

The events of this epic boarding action are well known to you, it resulted in the death of The Primarch of the Blood Angles, Horus and the near death of the Emperor. The traitors were defeated and peace was restored to Terra. After this, the legions broke down into smaller chapters, but as Rogal Dorn split his legion, the Emperor had a vision, it for told that the Traiators would oncew again set foot on Terra, but they would be stoped if Rogal Dorn and two other Primarches made the right desion now. What passed between the two great warriors is unknow, but when Dorn emerded he ordered the secret creation of a knew chapter, The Emperors Crusaders.

The records suggest that many of the marines that had accompanyed Dorn onto Horus's battle barge were chosen to lead the knew chaoter, a few of the most faithful of the Imperial fist were also chosen, together they formed the Chapters first company and the commands staff. Soon they left Terra, aboard the battle barge, Dorn Wraith, to their knew home world, the Feral World of Siafax.

Home World:

Siafax os a barren Feral world in the Siaf system, only a weeks travle from earth on a fast ship, the chapter based thier home world there to be in easy reach of Terra, when the Traitors come again. It's three moons constantly circle the planet, and their positions made them ideal fleet bases and orbital defence stations. Siafax has two distinct areas, the acrid suloher wastelands and it's volcanic Mountain ranges and rivers. The eastern side is known as the Balamore Wastes, named after the first human to cross them and survive, it is were the planets main poulation lives. It is a harsh enviroment, more suted to a Death World, the winds can reach up to the speed of sound and anything out in the open when they strike is stripped to the bone. Water is scarse, only found in the foot hills of the mountains and the deep caves that the people use as shelter. Those who live there, stay alive by hunting the few animals that live on the plains and farming in the caves. A few of the most hardiest live in shelters on the plain, were great riches can ne made, but at a high orice to a persons health. Every year, those considered worthy of join the Chapter, that have been watched intently my the chapters Chaplains will be rounded up and given basic survival equipment, and asked to treck acsoss the wastland.

The other half of the planet is lush, but just as deadly. It's inhabitets, though few, are veiwed with contemp by the dwelers of the plains. The Lava rivers and seas that flow through the mountains are impasable, so many places can not be accsesed, save by the sky. Those who live in this area are asked to cross the wodest lava river, for their initiation trails, a near immpossible feat. Were ever they live, the people of Saifax are among the hardyest in the galaxy.

The Crusaders chapter monestary is located on the norther pole, surounded by lava, instead of ice, the pole is exactly like the Wasteland and has flowing rivers of lava.

Combat Doctrine:

The Emperors Crusaders folow a rapid strike combat doctrine. They use drop pods, thunderhawk and their own Sky hunter deployment craft to arrive suddenly and desimate the enemy. Even in static warfair they conduct lightnig raides useing APCs and bikes. Each warrior is trained in the 'Karaty', or way of the warrior. They learn to deploy in all means, use their bolter in one hand, they also train in an ancient combat form matial arts called 'The Jukao', this involves usuing hands, feet and other body part to disable the enemy and kill him, some masters have been seen to dodge missile fire and deflect power weapon blows with their hands.

When the Marines training is compleat he will take his place in the scout company and progress from then onwards. This training means that far more scouts survive to become full marines. They also adopt the tactic of icolating enemy elements so they can not recive renforcemants or act as renforcements themselves.

They have been noted to defeat odds many times greater with only a handful of men, I personaly think that this is due to their training and combat doctrine.

Organisation:

At first the Emperors Crusaders apear to be a codex chapter, after further investigation ot seems that they use the great company system, only used by a few chapters now, notibly the Space Wolves. Each company has ten full tactical squads, five full assult squads, five full devistator squads and an atachment of scouts, all of this plus bikes, tanks and land speeder and the company commany staff adds to the companys full strength. The Organisation of these companys is based around their favoured tactics, for example, The 5th company favours deployment by the Sky hunters, so all of it's squads have more specialised weapons sutch as plasma and melts guns. The chapter as a whole forms an incredibly vesatile force.

Beliefs:

The chapter belives that they were created for a perpose, they veiw the Emperor as the great creator nand a mighty warrior, as many of their warriors saw him while he still walked amongst men. They also belive that only the toughest are worthy to be under the Emperors rule.

Gene-seed:

The chapters gene-seed is pure and comes from Imoerial Fist srick, as a result they are stern and sombre, serving the Emperor live each time they fight it will be the last time. Their whole chapter command and first commpany is implanted with an gland, thats name had been lost to history. This makes them immortal save to the fires of battle, it is belived that it was created usuing some of the Primarch's great powers. The gland is the reason why many of the chapters brothers are called teh anchient, because they saw the Emperor while he lived.

Battle cry:

The Chapters battle cry is simple:

For Dorn, For the Emperor and for your fallen Brothers.

The chapters moto is: The great and mighty are the only ones worths of his rule.

I am now compiling a history of the chapters action, information on the chapters heros and a list of specialist equipment used. The Emperor be with you.

Lord Inquisitor Ozrak.

For all Garren Project particpants.

I am keeping a text file of all messages (chopping out headers and signature files and comment postings). I'll edit what I have at present ( up and through page 6 of the B&C postings so far) and offer it to anyone that messages me through the B&C message servitor ( in other words, the message function of your account here on B&C).

I will run all the captured text through a word processor and correct spellings as I see them ( so don't flame me if I miss something, please). I will also feel free to correct sentence structure as I see fit, since in effect, what I'm editing is sort of like an on-going book about the Garren Crusade.

I have NOT copied and pasted the various IA's posted to the thread... perhaps one of the other brothers would like to take up that task and collect, edit, and correct them into a sort of IA on the Garren Project's participating Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.

This is just a heads up for those interested, and not part of the crusade itself.

May the Great Lion protect you as you Hunt in HIS name.

(( My deepest apologies for not posting anything in along time, especially to Master Asiroan Fel, I've hit a rut in my little fluff speel, and have been rummaging through the miles and miles of fluff i have to find the answer. Im hoping tonight, if i find what im looking for i shall have an entry...finally. Also Rymeer, that would be a nice thing to have, though i think i'll hold back till later into the Project, if you continue to do this that is.))
[= Inquisitor Xenthor =][=,Feb 6 2005, 06:38 PM]Also Rymeer, that would be a nice thing to have, though i think i'll hold back till later into the Project, if you continue to do this that is.

I shall be adding bits to the on-going text file as they are posted on the project's thread. Perhaps, this might make for a good text background to novelize the Project when it's completed. Who knows?

I've completed spell check, and I'm going to spend the next few days editing for sentence structure and word usage, etc.

I'll post again here in the Project's thread when it's ready in case anyone wants to see it.

Rymeer

Hi

Are they even reading this?

As a result, to stream line this, I am asking you all that haven't posted to post some fluff etc, other wise I am going to have to take your name of the list. The deadline in thursday.

'THE CAPTAIN'

(( Ok this isnt all of what i wanted to post, but since im later than what i said i would do, i might aswell post what i have. ))

Aboard the Emperor's Right Hand Chaplain Castus stood before the massive observation windows of the command deck. His hooded servant, Azaroth, standing just behind and to the left of him. Before them he watched as the Crusade Fleet Fenrir broke through the vast darkness of space, and slipped into the warp; his ship would be the last to leave the Garren system and enter the Gwayn system. Chaplain Castus's fleet was to enter the system opposite of Epistolary Terrem's point of entry, cutting off any kind of surpise attack the enemy could toss at them. "Azaroth, go and tell Zain to prepare for battle. When we enter the Gwayn system we are heading for the Lunar Platform Orbiting Pendral IV, i want his squad, and Devastator Squad Romia to join me when we enter the lunar platform. a group of guardsmen need our assistance against the swarm of heritics laying seige to that same platform. We are to meet Lord Terrem's fleet, and his men there."

The crimson robed Azaroth nodded and turned to make his way silently off the command deck, but was stopped by the large gauntleted hand of Castus,"Azaroth, you know once we arrive in the Gwayn system you will have to remain here on the ship..." Turning, the robed figure made a small shaking motion with his head, and the same half vocal, half psychic voice rang out," I do not under stand why i..." He was cut off by a motion of Castus's free hand, and then all was silent for a moment. "It is far to great a risk to loose you to something like this. When we found you on Bifrost, you were little more than a traitor to us, helping the Eldar guard what is now our burdon..our secret. Now you look at what you've become...do not misplace my trust i have placed in not slaying you all those millenia ago." Castus's voice was low, bairly loud enough for even Azaroth to hear, but his message was clear. The crimson hood made a nodding motion again, before Azaroth slipped from Castus's grip and made his way silently out of the command deck.

Castus let his hand drop, linking with his other behind his back as he turned too look out the view ports, the last ship had just entered the Warp, it was now their turn. Almost on cue, a voice rang out all across the ship " Prepare to jump into warp". With a single motion of Castus right hand the Emperor's Right Hand broke through normal space and began its journey towards the Gwayn system.

@Rymeer: when this is over, I would like a copy, It would be interesting to see what fluff was posted, and have referances.

Very nice Inquisitor, I sence a dark secret, Your not the only one.

More fluff soon

'THE CAPTAIN'

As promised, here is the 3rd portion of the on-going tale of the Crusading Lions participation in the Garren Crusade. I hope you all enjoy it.

********************************************************************

Aboard the 'Simba's Paw', Librarian Melchior was puzzled. The orbital auspex scan data should have been decoded long ago, but something was causing the cogitators to malfunction. A Techmarine had arrived on the bridge over an hour ago and was frantically running from on cogitator machine to the next, feeding the punched strips of parchment recording the raw data from the auspex devices back into each cogitator. Every time the Techmarine fed in such a strip, the machine would begin to function, only to spin back to zero point and spit out the tape again.

The frantically working Techmarine stepped up to the next machine, and without looking at the tape in his hand, shoved it into the cogitator's feed slot and stepped away to the next malfunctioning device. What had started as a mild murmur under the Techmarine's voice was now a loud chanting that drifted from one machine to the next as the harried marine tried to get the machines in his care to work properly.

Melchior mused that something about the symbols carved into the large summoning circle far below on the surface of the planet looked familiar. Something about those symbols seemed familiar in a way which had the Librarian convinced that he should have been able to read them. Melchior pondered this oddity while watching the Techmarine move from one machine to the next, feeding in tapes, only to have the cogitators regurgitate them again onto the deck. Melchior absently noted it, when the Techmarine fed in the latest strip into a cogitator near him, but this time the Marine fed the end, not the beginning, of the tape into the machine, and upside down to boot.

The cogitator whirred and spun, processing the tape's data as it fed through the reader, and it was the work of moments for the ancient device to compare it's files and come to a solution. A word displayed upon the screen before the Librarian in glowing runes so ancient, that few in the Imperium could read the language anymore. Melchior watched as another word joined the first, and then more, until the tape ended and the beginnings of a phrase were glowing upon his screen.

The Librarian stood and followed the Techmarine about his rounds of the Cogitators, re-feeding the tapes into the machines upside down and backwards, not too surprised to see that each tape was accepted by the machine and processed, adding it's burden of data to the growing text that was glowing upon the Librarian's screen. Melchior waited for more tapes to process before reading the text in a low mutter to himself. "... And there came to pass in the fullness of Time, that Chronos was fooled by the twisting of Fate. The Mirror of Destiny reflected not his aspect, but warped and twisted..."

Melchior looked again to the screen showing the planetary surface far below. The long-range auspex showed the Ritual Circle and it's Runes with near-clarity. Enough clarity for the Librarian to look upon them with growing comprehension as his mind whirled and ideas formed, until the Librarian bolted upright, staring at the auspex's screen with shock. "Refraction! Of course!"

Melchior ran to the Primary Auspex station and looked down upon the planet laid bare to his gaze. He puzzled as he called up a holo-field and filled it with the star system and narrowed it's field to include only the planet, it's moon, and the Space Marine ships in orbit. "Now, if the Ritual Site is on the planet, but it is refracted, that means..." The Librarian's eyes swept up along a line, straight up from the Circle on the planet, past the orbiting ships, and out to... "But of Course!!" Melchior yelled, startling many of his Brother Marines who were monitoring events below.

Melchior spun, his dark robes swirling about his lanky form, and ran for the bank of personnel transporter-lifts. He MUST see Brother Captain Janos, NOW!!

*********************************************************

Melchior ran on and on, until he was stopped by the sheer mass of the two Terminator Guards standing before Captain Janos' chamber doors. They examined his panting from with suspicion, but a quick glance at the glowing eyes of the Lion Pendant hanging from his neck proved to them that the Librarian was NOT under the influence of any Chaotic Force, and thus safe enough to allow into the Captain's presence.

The Terminators saluted the Librarian and stepped aside with the sound of hissing from their suit's servo mechanisms, and the door they guarded opened before the Librarian. "Peace be with you Librarian Melchior." Said the senior Terminator on duty that day. "The Great Lion's blessing upon you."

Melchior nodded and drew, in glowing runes, the Great Sign of the Lion before him in the air, proving yet further that he was un-tainted. "I come in haste to speak with Brother Captain Janos. It is a matter of utmost urgency."

The Terminators nodded and the senior waved him through the doorway. "Blessed be the Great Lion. You may pass."

Melchior quickened his pace again, striding into the Captain's chambers and towards the Audience Chamber. Knowing as he did so that the Terminators would be giving Brother Captain Janos a quick briefing upon the Librarian's sudden arrival. The Librarian walked quickly through the door of the Audience Chamber and knelt upon the cushioned surface of the Supplicant's kneeler, bowing his head to the robed presence that stood before him upon the slightly raised dias before the throne-like chair of the Captain's formal Seat of Command. "My Lord Captain. I have just come from the Bridge."

Janos nodded and sat upon his seat, looking down upon the bowed head of the Librarian kneeling before him. "This I know, Brother. What have you to report that is so important that you banish all protocols to see me in such haste?"

Melchior lifted his head and looked into the steely hazel eyes of his Captain and Pride Leader. "It is thus, My Lord of Lions..."

I'm currently working on another piece of fluff to add, this will see the Blades of Deliverance introduced to the shadowy figure mention in previous posts, and start to shed some light on just what Bracken has in store for them and the campaign...

Until then, i have 5 assignments from TAFE to do!!! :cry2:

The Emperor protects,

Brother Lucas

Unlicky Lucas.

Any way, I am going away on friday and won't be back till monday, so some fluff.

++++++++++++++

Drifting lazily through space, the ship was like a carron bird. It was sleek and silent, the planet below was in war, the imperial forces were overruning it, but they would soon learn. Onboard, Hector Reduzan, the sluaghterer laughed.

-------------------------

Dredclaw assult pods plumeted to th planet surface, the marines on the ground looked up in astioishment, the forces of chaos were counter attacking.

'Prepair to defend' roared Xerian, he was astonished, how had a ship sneeked pasted their sensors. He tryed to contact the strike criuser they had arriver in, but all he got was static. Now the warriors of vengance had left for another planet in the system, the crusaders were traped on the planet.

Xerian saw the first pods crash into the ground at a cross roads nearby, this attack had veen well planed he thought. The pods weapons destroyed the buildings around it, then the warriors inside came. They were of the death bringer legion, their ghostly armour make then appear like invincible deamons of the warp. Xerian knew they were not, he opened fire, droping two of them. They locked onto his position and charged, he hefted his thunder hammer. Then all hell broke lose.

Mistery.... will this be another istvann masacre, or will the Warrior of Vengance return.

SPOILER, DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A SUPRISE:

The deamon thing that escaped, Captain Iziha and Hector Reduzan are all linked.

'THE CAPTAIN'

Some fluff for the 'Paladins'

PALADINS:

INDEX ASTARTES:

PALADINS

Origins:

The Paladins are a 9th founding chapter stationed in Segmentum Pacificus. Originally created to help protect the Imperiums western border in the area of space known as the Halo Stars.

Although not much of the Paladins history is known to outsiders of the chapter, they have been sighted many numerous times thuoghout Segmentum Pacificus and Segmentum Obscurus. The chapter has been involved in many of the major crusades and conflicts in both of these areas.

Homeworld:

The feudal world of Hadrian is located on the western edge of segmentum Pacificus. It is a world of lush forests, wind swept plains, and imposing mountain ranges.

The native inhabitants are split into six different territories or countries, and have at numerous times been at war with each other. Each country is ruled by a warlord, and he alone is in control of that countries castles and fortresses. The people of each country live in or nearby one of these massive castels.

Firearms have not been discovered on Hadrian making the primary weapon of choice the sword, the axe, or some other form of medievil weapon. The warriors of each country are much like the medievil knights of terra, making them superb recruits for the Paladins.

Organization:

The chapter formation follows the structure of the Codex Astartes but with some divergence. The Paladins tend to lean more towards close combat as a result of their home world. They also have a higher number of dreadnaughts than other chapters, showing that they honor their champions and hero's. It is also rare to see landspeeder or bike squadrons in a Paladins force, preffering to get up close and personal with their enemies.

Combat Doctrines:

The Paladins use codex formations except for the greater number of close combat equiped squads and the higher number of dreadnaughts.

Beliefs:

Unlike most other chapters the Paladins have a close link with the Ecclesiarchy

and have enormous faith in its teachings, viewing the Emperor as a god and not just a mortal man.

Gene-seed:

The Paladins geen-seed is derived from that of the Imperial Fists.

Battle-Cry:

"Fides omnia vincit" (Faith conquers all).

( The traits used by the Paladins are as follows,

Advantages =Take the fight to them and Heed the wisdom of the ancients.

Disadvantages= Eye to eye and Have pride in your colors.)

'THE CAPTAIN'

Oracles Council Meeting.

Chaplain Ifuta, Capt. Nakata, Vet. Sgts. Onomichi, Nobuhiko, and Yasuhumi, and other select Oracles along with Lt. Celruda met in the outpost's conference room. Ship's Captains Satsuma, Tang, and other command staff were linked via secure crytpovox.

"The situation is grave." stated Capt. nakata. "The Oracles, even with the added strength of the PDF, do not have the manpower to repel 100,000 attackers. We have 2 companies. That is about 200 Space Marines plus support equipment. The PDF is reduced from the last attack and can only field about a like number. Lt. Celruda indicates that most of the armor was destroyed during the last encounter. Even though we are the emperor's chosen, Space Marines, we cannot each account for 500. We need options."

"The PDF can account for our number, perhaps twice our number, but no more." Stated lt. Celruda. "However, we are streched thin protecting the outpost. I will not leave this duty unless ordered to do so by the Planetary Govener himself."

"Nor should you. I believe the best place for the PDF forces is right where they are. Devotion to duty is both admirable and powerful. The Oracles do not underestimate it." Said Chaplain Ifuta in warm tones.

The meeting went on for hours. Plans of the outpost were reviewed. Maps of the surrounding areas were studied. Overflights of the other cities were ordered, as well as a search patter for the area surrounding the outpost.

At last it was decided that some rest, reflection, and prayer was needed.

A sickly grey mass crept forward. It shuttered as it moved. Closer. Closer. The Oracles stood mere specks before the mass. Suddenly, a star streaked across the heavens. The grey mass twitched and shook as the leading edge of it errupted, like bubbles in a boiling pot. Bright beams of light fell from heaven. They punched through the ice the grey mass was creeping upon. The ice ruptured and the grey mass fell into the sea.

The vision shifted to Outpost 426. A sickly green hand reached out. It grabbed the outpost and crushed it utterly.

Chaplain Ifuta awoke in a cold sweat. Telltale icons indicated that both his hearts had shown elevated rates. He immediatly contacted Librarian Amano. The Librarian had the same vision.

The Emperor Protects,

Brother Lucas

Hi

I just posted some fluff and when I whent to post it it got wiped! ;) ^_^

arr well, can't type it all again but I'll do something else instead.

To: The Lords of the Inquisitation

Subject: Heros of the Emperors Crusaders

My lords, I have drawn up a list of some of the chapters most prolific heros.

Dreadnaught Ideus: Formerly Emperors Champion I deus, he saved the current chapter masters life and helped slay a deamon that had manifested from a dark elder host. In life Ideus was known for his great sword skill, and like many was trained my Rogal Dorn. The dreadnaught he mans is a furioso variant, usualy used by the Blood Angles. Ideus has seen few battles since becoming a dreadnaight, but has taken part in the Derinox campain to purge an entire sector of the Eastern fringe of orks and tyranids, in wich he acted nobley and slew a total of three hive tyrants. No more information is available to me at this time.

Derican Noax, Mster of the Forge: Derican Noax was recruted from the one of the lava nomad families on the chapters homeworld. His skill as a smith soon elevated his to the rank of techpreist and was apointed to the third company. However, he dispised the atitude held by some that techmarines should not fight. He personaly lead the defence of teh breached walls at fortress Cargon to prove his point. For this action he was awarded the use of a blessed Thunder Hammer and still weilds it to this day. He has many criticts inside that chapter, and it took the intervetion of the Chapter master of the time to vote Derican into the post of master of the forge when his predeseser died. Derican had won more purity seals for bravery than any other techpriest in the history on mankind, but he doesn't let this fact make him somplaceant and he is always ready to fight, at any time.

+Transmission interupted, remainder will be transmited soon+

'THE CAPTAIN'

Hi

I just posted some fluff and when I whent to post it it got wiped! :)

I have had that happen also. I have learned my lesson.

When making a long post, I now put them in a text program (notpad, email) as I compose it. This has the added benefit that I can (sometimes) spell-check it as well. Then when I am done, I paste it into a post for B&C.

Rlyehable has the right idea. I lost a posting and now the only way I post for longer postings is by using Ultraedit to compose and spell-check my posting first, then cut and paste to the posting box. This has the added benefit of allowing me to feel less constrained by the box size for the posting, and allows for me to archive my postings for later perusal and reflection.

While on this particular sub-topic, I often wonder why others don't do the same thing. Write their posting using a text editor program so that it can be spell checked before the whole posting is pasted to the board posting box for everyone to see. Emperor knows, it would make my task easier in editing the sections of the Garren Crusade into a readable whole for later perusal and enjoyment.

Ah, well. At least I've now got a project to keep me busy ( besides playing the game, that is ) and off the streets. Anything that keeps me off the streets, and out of trouble can't be all bad. *grin*

Just a few thoughts,

Rymeer

The air was filled with the thumping bark of many bolters firing as one; it was backed up by the roaring chatter of heavy bolters and the hiss of plasma cannons. Uriel watched as this wave of death slammed into the approaching traitors and saw scores of there number fall, the angels fired again and again in continual methodical bursts and traitors continued to fall, a chimera erupted in a massive fireball, it had taken a direct hit from a plasma cannon and the resulting explosion had incinerated several of the remaining traitors, those that were left turned and ran at the overwhelming fire power of the marines.

Michael roared *WE ARE VICTORIUS!!!* a cheer went up from the marines but Uriel felt no joy, one of the two devastator squads had taken a direct hit from a missile and several of his brothers had fallen to small arms fire, Uriel felt a deep pain when ever he lost a battle brother *I will take penance for this failure when I return to the fleet* thought Uriel, he raised his voice so all could hear * DO NOT CELEBRATE YET BROTHERS!! THIS WAS MERELY A FRIST WAVE!! STAY ALERT!!* he turned to see the face of Afriel the Apothecary *shall I see the wounded my lord?* his thick accent evident even through the vox-caster in his helmet, *yes Afriel, go about your duties* said Uriel, he turned before he had finished speaking to look out to where the traitors had come from, and a thought went through his mind *what to do now?*

Many Greetings

Right a few things,

first: The-betrayer, that is some goods fluff, but why these* instead of these'. Just wana know, it's your fluff but I'm intrested.

Second: I recently got a digital camera and once I get a photobucket thingy up some pics will be on their way.

Thirdly: FLUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, ehm, yes well here you go:

Inquisitor Lord Ozrak moved slowly across the wlde hall, like a feline, ready to pounce. He had folowed the rouge inquisitor for many days now, and finaly he had tracked him down. Here on this jungle world, he had arrived at an abondoned Traitor base. It was in a gaint clearing, miles wide. He had started his searchat ine end and found nothing, but hhis storm trooper commander had seem movement at this end of the complex and had directed him to it. Now he had the heretic.

---------------------------

Iziha crept through the jungle, behind him his men folowed, stealthy and queit, like shadows. The trail of the deamon thing had lead him here. A stymid Emperor damed jungle world full of insects polluted by chaos. He sighed as he crept forwards, they were in a clearing, what looked like a giant complex of buildings and amo dumps covered the area, the only sign of life was a singal moving figure, moving towards them.

'Prepair to fire' said Iziha, his order was obeyed instantly, his men lifted their bolters and took aim. Just as the figure ran across another courtyard Iziha caught sight of a small golden =I= on the mans armour.

'Halt' he cried 'why would an Inquisitor of the Emperor be here?'

The man turned, exposing himself to all the marines fire, a stupid move. He looked for Izihas position but couldn't see him so called out,

'Were are you', his voice had a slight trace of fear in it.

Iziha stood up, 'here' he said, the Inquisitor hurried over and just as he reached Iziha a storm of hell shots came flying towards the marine. Thet both spun round to the the storm troopers firing at them.

'In the mane of the Emperor sto....'said the Inquisitor, he didn't finish, a hell round smashed into his jaw and knocked him flying. Iziha cursed and draged him to cover.

'Return fire' he yelled.

Cheers
