==Thought For The Day: Better a lifetime of servitude than an eternity of damnation==

========================================================

During a routine grain convoy to the Hive Worlds in the Behorik system our convoy was ambushed by a Murder class cruiser and its Iconoclast escorts near the jump point. While we were forming a defensive screen the traitors closed at high speed. At a range of six thousand klicks we were engaged with the escorts. The Murder class cruiser now positively identified as the Chaotic Abandon pursued the merchant ships. After a hit in the port magazine caused a fire we turned hard and brought our guns to bear on the leading Iconoclast. Already engaged with our sister ship it was out of position and we delivered two accurate salvos into her stern. Pressing in closer for the kill we fired again breaking her back as the enemy ship disintegrated.

It was then that auguries reported the presence of the Adeptus Astartes strike craft latter identified as the Sun Crusher along with its attendant escorts. After lying silent in space the ship

Quick request:

I would find it helpful if everyone would put the Chapter they are writing the story of at the top of thier post. It is somewhat difficult to go through 7 pages of postings to figure out which chapter is being wrote about.

Thanks,

Vet. Sgt. Yasuhumi, of the Oracles, stood at the edge of a vast plain of ice. His battle brothers stood in a line stretching left and right for hundreds of yards. Each one stood at the ready, ignoring the bitter cold. Their yellow armor fluorescing in the bright winter sun.

On the opposite horizon was a dark cloud that covered the snow. It moved in a creeping, shambling motion. No natural cloud, this. It was composed of thousands upon thousands of people. Or rather, what was once people. Through mag-viewers it could be seen that each one was sickly grey-green. Pustuals and open sores covered their faces. These, once loyal, citizens of the Imperium were now nothing but mindless zombies. The zombies had no will, no choice. They moved at the whim of some throne-forsaken sorcerer. On they came. Over nine thousand.Trudge. Stutter. Limp. Moving with a single purpose.

Sgt. Yasuhumi opened this vox. "Damocles 1. Now."

A star fell from heaven. It left a fiery streak, slowly cutting across the sky.

Sgt. Yasuhumi nodded to Sgt. Mhlume. Sgt. Mhlume pressed a small button on his auspex.

Great plumes of steam erupted in front of the line of Oracles. All along the edges of the ice plain. Hundreds of meltabombs had been planted along the edge of the ice plain. Now they burned deep into the ice. And then the star struck, dead center of the plain. Huge chunks of ice were thrown into the air.Water thrown up from under the ice rained down on the Space Marines. Bodies fell from the sky, never to rise again. The marines hurried to make sure that each body was destroyed. Eight minutes later all was calm. Steam rose from the newly unsealed ocean surface.

"We better get back." Sgt. Yahumi stated. He switched vox channels and called for the thunderhawks.

hmmmmmmmmm, I dont know. It's way past the dedline. But if you start righting fluff and keep at it the fine.

Anyho:

The stormtroopers had a red light in their eyes, and it wasn't their helmet lenses. Iziha cursed, without wards guarding their minds, they had fallen prey to the chaos on the planet. Iziha let off a stream of bolter shots, within seconds the stormtroopers were dead. But Iziha could tell that the local creatures would soon come to this place, hungry for blood, he thumbed his vox icon,

'This is Imperialatis 1 to Imperialatic 553, do you copy'

'Roger 1'

'Evac at this piont now! be ready for action as you aproche the area, sendong location'

'I copy, out 1'

Iziha looked at the Inquisitor, the hellround had punctured his skull and avoided his spinal chord and wind pipe by a few milimeters, he was alive but only just.

'Brothers, set up a perimater arount this area, Greial, see to the Inquisitor.

Iziha used his helmet to study the Inquisitors face and cross-record it with the files in the chapters database. He gasped when the file for Lord Inquisitor Ozrak came up, he didn't have time to worry befor the jungle started to stir around them. But in stead of local beasts, Iziha detecte men, not living but dead, shambling towards them.

'Watch out' the cried

Then the battle started.

A sleek, black, stealthed ship sliped through folds between our universe and the warp. Not so much as a glimmer of light escapted. Huge, passive scanning wings unfolded in the quiet of space and just as quietly refolded. The Obsidian shielded engines flaired for a brief second and the small craft shot through space toward Ulexis. Some hours later, the craft deployed grav chutes and slid to a halt. A smaller craft detached itself and sped on toward the planet.

Inquisitor Kou answered the challenge from Glorious Duty and proceeded toward Outpost 426. The thunderhawk screamed out of the sky. It twisted in mid-air and splashed flames against the outpost landing pad, comming to a halt only inches above the ground. The engines whined and poped as they spun down and cooled. With a hiss, the hatch opened and the inquisitor jumped down before the ramp had deployed. Inquisitor Kou was striking with sholder length curly hair, a long brown greatcoat, a broad rimmed hat and a multicolored striped scarf. His broad smile was disarming, but the powersword and plasma pistol in his belt were not.

Lt. Celruda and a small honor guard approached the Inquitor. "I am Acting Lt. Celruda. Welcome to Imperial Outpost 426, Ulexis. You will excuse me, but I must ask for identification."

Inquisitor Kou's eyes hardended for a second, then softened. "Of course, Lieutenant." Kou replied. He streached out his hand and envoked the electro-tatoo, of Ordo Hereticus, that was his badge of office.

"Hereticus?" asked Lt. Celruda.

"On loan to Malleus. Here is the paperwork." Inq. Kou said as he pulled a small shief of parchment from his pocket. Dozens of seals were attached to the bottom and back of the documents. Lt. Ceruda examined the papers looking for errors. But he had no idea what he was looking for. After a short time, he handed the papers back to the Inquisitor.

"I wouldn't know if these are genuine or false. Since your transponder codes checked out, I will have to assume they are correct." said Celruda with a small laugh. The Inquisitor smiled at the candor. "Please come this way." Celruda said and led the way into the outpost.

Inquisitor Kou no more than reached the conference room when red lights began to flash all over the outpost.

Chaplain Ifuta turned on the room vox.

Lt. Celruda commanded "Report."

"Sgt. Krendle here. Remote sensors piced up movement about 2 clicks out. Magna Vox did not find anything. Could be a sensor malfunction. But, Sir, I checked those sensors myself yesterday. I would bet my life that they are working."

"Very good Krendle. Move the outpost to high alert. Let me know if anything else develops. Celruda out." said Celruda. "Well, gentilemen, it looks like it may be starting early."

Muhahaha!

Nice, well guys looking good from mypiont of view, and I understand that Inquisitor x and Master Arision Fel will soon making an apearance Anhoo:

The damaged Battle Barge jumped from the Warp, it's battered and scared hull was covered with differant colours and types of metals from constant repairs, it's guns would looked old and worn out compaired to an Imperial battle cruiser, but all of them were now blazing hulks or had been forces to with draw. Around the Battle Barge, two strike cruisers and a dozen smaller craft were gathered, all in the same state of repair. The ships guaring the Warp portal were blow apart in second, the chaos fleet realed, the hulks still showering dredclaws on the planet below scattered and four gaint Chaos battle ships swung round to face the small strike force. Befor the marouvre had been compleaded, a lance strik struck the first ship, Death Messanger, in the engeine, detonating the plasma core and scattering the ship througout the surounding space. Shocked by the desplayed fire power the other ships were destroyed and more descended on the flotila, the black nothingness that made up space exploded in a storm of firepower, chaos ships were destroyed in their dozens, as the Battle Barges escorts flanked the chaos fleet and harried the Drop ships, in the chaos, ten drop pods and a score of thunderhawks were disgorged form the belly of the Battle barge, Emperors Rerebution, and spead towrads the surface, The Sons of Salifiane had arrived.

Hehehehe, plot twist, see my post, The Salifiane raiders for more info.

I'll be getting to the 3rd part of my current battle soon Fuzzball, I got a bit side-tracked by bills, work, and trying to get my modeler to get cracking on assembly and painting up my first squad of Crusading Lions. I -HOPE- to have about 2,000 points worth by the end of July (Chicago Games Day). If not, the techmarine will NOT be getting all those lovely leman russes he wanted to beef up his IG Armored Company.

I -WILL- be getting to my writing soon. promise.

Greetings Brothers

Looking forward to the fluff guys,

anyhoo:

Iziha urged the thunderhawk pilot to go faster. The Inquisitor was dieing and time was running out. The destress call from the Emperors Crusaders had arrived, despite being in the same system, the Wariorrs of Vengance were still 5 hours travle away, and they could see the planet. Iziha checked his time peice as they docked onboard ship and handed over the Inquisitor.

'prepair for battle, all battle stations' he yelled

The strike cruiser was alive with activity, he made his way to the chaple, an isle of calm in the sea of organised chaos and bussle of a Space Marine warship prepairing for battle.

He knelt at the alter, making the sign of the aquila as he prayed for his battle brothers, the Emperors Crusaders, the Inquisitor and finaly begged the Emperor for forgiveness of his past. The forgiveness that would only come in the things death.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Captain Desmon, former champion of the Emperor watched the planet beow through the drop pods veiwing port. he knew that the Space marines might not be pleased to see a renagade chapter make planet fall on the surface, even if they were on their side.

He sighed and braced for impact.

Blades of Deliverance

The passenger hold of the command shuttle was dark, with scant, flickering light from thick candles placed about the room casting deep, harsh shadows through the clouds of sweet incense that filled the space about the figure as she scanned the report on the data slate in her hands, her serious expression turning into a deep furrow as she finished the last lines of her acolyte

Inquisitor Kou had been decending stairs for the last 45 minutes. He had started counting, but had lost count about 10 minutes ago. The stairway was illuminated with ancient glow tubes at each landing. The light from the glow tubes failed to reach the mid point of each flight of stairs, so there was about 10 stairs on each flight that he traversed in the darkness. On and on. Down and down he decended, zigzagging into the depths.

The stairs finally ended at a vault-like wall. Inquisitor Kou quickly entered the inquisition passcode. The indicator flamed red. He tried another code. Again, the indicator flared red. Inquisitor Kou paced and finally approached the consol again. He entered an ancient code that was no longer used by the inquisition. The indicator shone green through the accumlated grime on the light. A deep boom sounded and a hiss of air pressure adjustment. Heavy doors slid left and right. Beyond the doors was a vast expanse.

Ancient glow tubes flickered to life. There was a sudden, oppressive, menatl presence. Suspended above anti-grav platforms, anchored by wires were hundres of astropaths. They slowly rotated, deep in a coma-like condition. Above each one was a porcupine of probes. Feeding tubes also hung from an elaborate harnes to some of the astropaths.

"Throne protect them." Kou murmmered to himself. He turned to the panel next to the door and called up the ancient security hymns. He entered the current inquisitional passwords and sealed the door.

He then made a slow survey of the chamber. It was larger than he imagined. He followed the outer chamber a quarter of the way arround to find an archway that lead to another chamber, also filled with floating astropaths.

Okay, it's short, and in-complete, but here's a taste of what's going on with the Crusading Lions...

******************************

Librarian Melchior and Chaplain Domik looked through the Holo-table display's hologram at Captain Janos. Both of them had been summoned to the Bridge to meet with the Brother Captain to discuss their concerns and ideas for the up-coming attack upon the lunar site they had discovered.

Janos nodded towards Melchior and sat back in his seat to listen carefully to the Librarian's words.

"My Lord. It is known to you that a large Chaos force is currently attempting some foul ritual upon the moon of the planet Curwin at this moment. My attempts to discern the nature of the force or forces arrayed against us have been stymied by a powerful psychic presence upon the moon, and I fear that we shall not know the true extent of the Enemies's forces until we, ourselves, are engaged in battle with them."

Melchior manipulated the Holo-table's controls and displayed a tactical simulacrum of the site. "With ourselves in orbit over the planet, any move we make towards the objective will alert the Enemy to our plans." The Librarian caused several smaller holograms to appear in the larger one, showing Thunderhawks moving in a pattern.

"I propose that we should send our forces in Thunderhawks. This pattern will seem semi-random if not closely examined over time. But it will ensure that at the proposed moment, that all Thunderhawks will converge upon the target with the minimum of course correction, and allow us to place our forces in close proximity to the Foe in the minimum time necessary. Such a deployment will allow us to drop and deploy the entire Pride on target and gain at least a modicum of surprise, and thus time, to discern the Enemy's deployments and forces."

Janos nodded and ran the scenario through it's paces several times at various speeds, halting it on occasion to peer intently at the spread of the Pride's forces previous to landing before speeding it back up to run through again. The Space Marine nodded again and leaned back to look at Chaplain Domik, an eyebrow raised in question.

Domik pulled the input board for the Holo-table over to himself and entered a sequence of keys, calling up a pre-made battle plan from storage in the data-base of the device. "As you can see, my Lord of Lions, I have another thought upon this matter. I feel it might be best to break orbit during our next circuit of the planet and change the heading of the fleet to allow us to approach the moon from behind. In this way we would be using the mass of the moon itself to shield our approach and gain some tactical advantage as our forces swoop over the horizon."

"Thunderhawks would deposit the Pride out of weapons range of known Enemy weaponry, to charge into glorious combat with the Foe and bring the Wrath of the Great Lion down upon them with minimum warning." The Chaplain looked at the unfolding simulation before him, watching the trails of the Thunderhawks as they left their parent ships behind the moon and spread like an unfolding flower of destruction.

The trails converged upon the other side of the moon to land each Thunderhawk's load within easy march of the Enemy's positions. "Operational plans could be adjusted as the Enemy's dispositions become known."

Janos nodded at the Chaplain and blanked the Holo-table's display. "The Great Lion knows I respect each of you and your thoughts, my Brothers. Both of you have presented me with sound tactical advice, but I must think of larger concerns." Janos reached to his side and gently scratched the ears of his Simba Companion as he leaned back in his seat.

"Chapter Master Rymeer entrusted this force to my care. I think I would do well to return as many Brothers back into his keeping as I can, while still performing our Mission to his satisfaction." Janos smiled fondly as Samson purred under the Captain's caressing hand.

"There are factors to this whole Crusade that cause me concern my Brothers." Janos said, looking again at both his top aides. "And I feel that in some way there are levels of planning and cunning artifice, as well as misdirections and outright lies, here in the Garren Cluster that we know nothing of as yet. Caution is not Cowardence."

Domik and Melchior both gazed upon their Captain with little surprise. For they too had reason to think that more was occurring in the Garren Cluster than was apparent upon the surface of things.

"Having said that, I feel you both have presented me with viable options for a sound tactical assessment of the situation we have here." Janos typed rapidly into the Holo-table's controls for several moments, allowing a new hologram to appear before the three Marines.

"Brother Domik, your idea of a rapid, converging deployment, using the mass of the moon is quite sound to my mind." Janos looked over to the Librarian and smiled.

"But Brother Melchior's idea has merit too." The Captain smiled again as the hologram evolved though it's programmed paces. Showing deployments far more extensive than either had suggested to their Lord and leader.

"By the use of the Fleet's fighter assets, we can easily have Brother Melchior's 'show of force'. Distracting the Enemy from our purpose, and perhaps even making him wonder what we are up to." The hologram moved ships and fighters across the expanse of near-lunar space in a complicated pattern.

"While this distraction occupies our Enemy, we shall perform Brother Domik's proposed assault plan. With a few modifications..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Within an hour, orders were dispatched to the Fleet and ships began to move from their appointed orbits around Curwin. Fighters left their mother ships and flew in patterns that closely resembled a search for a hidden Enemy ship. As the bulk of the Fleet became eclipsed by Curwin's mass, Thunderhawks deployed en mass and shaped their orbits to approach the planet's moon unobserved. Fleet Master Piper looked down at the sealed orders that Captain Janos had delivered into his hands just before departure and frowned. If the orders contained what he thought they might, then all hell was about to break loose upon the moon of Curwin IV, and nothing but the Great Lion's Grace would prevent it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samson followed his Companion as the Captain made a point of stopping by each squad's barracks area and chatting with them for a few moments. Each squad of marines visited usually resulted in several brief caresses by the squad's marines, and the occasional piece of chocolate, which the huge lion took merely as his due. Unknown to the lion, the touching of the Captain's Companion was seen as good luck to the Marines thus visited, but the lion could scent the growing excitement and pre-battle tension in the men. Voices were raised in prayers to the Great Lion, and extra special care was taken with the Rites for each Marine's weapons and armor. Although done quickly, there was little haste in the preparations made by the Pride's Marines as they readied themselves for the battle to come. Janos clasped arms with his Brothers and spoke to each Sergeant quietly. His murmuring voice reassuring to the Lion that stayed close to his Companion, yet accepted chocolate bribes and gentle caresses from each Sergeant's squad mates.

This ritual was known to Samson from times past, and each time such a trail had been walked by the Marine and Simba, Battle had been at the end of the path taken. 'Oh, battle! Glorious Battle! To Fight, Rend and Tear. To Kill the Enemies of the Pride! To hear the roar-like battle cries of the Marines, and join them in the slaughter of That Which Is Prey.' For Battle was something the Simba had never grown tired of. The feel of the Enemy's throat in his maw, the hot gush of life's blood spraying from the ruined throat, and the sheer Joy of the Hunt were the things that had filled his life with purpose and had given his many years of hard training an outlet for the Battle Lust of the Simba once battle was truly enjoined.

Samson padded along at the heels of his Companion and gazed with gem-green eyes at the Marines making their preparations. 'It was wise indeed, back in the time before time, when the Old Ones had first decided that THESE humans deserved respect. For THEY had given the Simbas more than they had ever hoped to find... Enemies to Rend and Tear. Prey to be Hunted down and Killed. All for the sake of the protection of the Pride'

Sorry It took me so long to post something I had a block in my story line anyhow here it is the first part of my fluff.

~Paladins~

Brother Sigurd strode through the battlefield, fellow battle brothers and accursed traitors fought all around him.It was though he could not be touch or as if he was invisible to all but himself. As he marched on he noticed a hideous form of a beast that barely resembled a space marine any longer. .What cought his attention the most about this foul minion of chaos was that it had noticed him as well.

Sigurd drew his sword pointed it at the beast in a challenging gesture. "You shall die this day by my sword"

. The foul minion of chaos bellowed out in rage " I am Fulstus champion of the plague god and it is you who shall die this day.

Sigurd charged into meet this champion of chaos as their swords clashed togeether everything went black.

Sigurd quickly awoke from his meditation. He was still in his quarters kneeling in front of his devotional alcove. This battle had seemed so real how could he still be in his quarters. He rose to his feet and went to seek counsel from Chaplain Gareth.

As Sigurd reached the chaple he made the sign of the aquilia across his chest as he entered. Chaplain Gareth was knelt down in front of the alter as if in prayer to the Emperor. Sigurd turne to leave he did not want to interupt.

But just before he reached the door he heard the Chaplain speak."You have need of my counsel Brother Sigurd".

Sigurd turned to adress the Chaplain "Aye I am indeed, I have been in meditation for many hours. While meditating I ventured to a battlefield. I walked through this battle unseen and unharmed until I came into contact with a traitorous abomination. As we met in combat blade to blade I was abruptly awoken."

"Brother Sigurd you have been chosen by the Emperor himself to be his champion against evil in our upcoming battle. As you know we have recently entered the Garren system. Its worlds are being overun by the minions of the dark gods. Its falls to us and our fellow crusading brethren to cleanse this place of thier foul presence". Gareth's voice was getting louder as if he was getting ready to break into a rousing sermon.

Gareth's voice grew even louder "Brother Sigurd is your mind clear.

"Aye"replied Sigurd.

"Is your body strong".asked Gareth

"Aye" he replied again.

Garerth's voice dropped almost to a whisper " Is you soul pure".

"Aye it is as pure as my faith in the Emperor himself". yelled Sigurd.

Gareth spoke in a softer voice now. "Come my brother we must prepare you. For tomrrow we make planetfall".
