Captain Semper's Adeptus Titanicus project

Great work Captain! I knew the Krytos scheme would come good in the end! For the record, always take one of the ankle pieces and dry fit in in all eight positions whilst your feet are drying, in case you need to re-pose. It is a bit of an oversight by GW not to warn people that 'overdoing' the pose will lead to ankles and/or shinplates that don't fit. Also, in my experience, a hairdryer will unstick plastic glue! -

The trim sticks on there without issue? I guess if you varnish it afterward you should be ok but that still sketches me out Not sure what you're asking, mate, but I just paint (airbrush) the whole panel, trim and all, on the sprue, then when I'm done, clip them all off, file down any lumps, then reapply the trim metals to the spots where the panels were clipped off. I do varnish afterwards but that's just for decal application and protection. It probably wouldn't be worth the effort if the airbrushed parts connected to the sprue, as it'd be really troublesome to re-airbrush the clipped-off areas. OT: Nice to see you back in the game, Captain! -

I painted both my Warlords' armour on the sprue, trim and all, it's muuuuch less fiddly, and planning on doing the same with my Reavers. Somebody saw it on my Instagram and couldn't believe it! Once you're done you clip off and clean up the connecting parts with a file and go back in with your trim colour. It's the work of two minutes, no bother! -

Don't give in, Captain! I realised 4 days into painting that I had built the lower legs backwards and wanted to throw it out of the window, but with some help I fixed it and now it's my pride and joy. It can be salvaged! -

Looking forward to this! I'm totally in love with the models, the little colour/pattern variations you can do between titans, and as you say, it's nice to gain confidence with something new - I've fully magnetised all of mine and broken out the airbrush too! As long as you've got some masking tape, I'd vote for Legio Krytos; really cool scheme, bad guys, sounds psuedo-Greek, and they hang around with the Iron Warriors, who are also fairly Greek...ish... I'm tempted to do them myself once I finish all my pesky loyalists... -
I'm trying to build a 3000 point list for a narrative campaign, so no named characters. At the moment it revolves around The Black Reaving; a one-two punch of Scouting Seekers and Breachers in distraction LR Proteuses, Deep Striking Praetor/Justaerin and as many Reavers as I can stuff in a Storm Eagle.

I'm sure you've all wanted to remove plastic parts or like me, made a mistake and not realised until way after drying time, a quick glance at the web shows that 'plastic glue creates a weld not a bond, it can't be undone, just cut it', etc etc. Two words; Hair dryer! I can't believe this worked, I'd glued my brand new Warlord Titan's lower legs on backwards and didn't notice until after 3 days painting and coming to final assembly. A hair dryer just heated up the glue until it went tacky, like it does in that 30 seconds or so adjustment time you have when playing around with poses, and I just popped open the upper leg and switched the lower around, easy as that! Didn't even damage the paintwork! TLDR; Try applying some heat (stay safe!) to plastic glue, it worked for me, seems odd no one else has noticed/tried before.

Khârn himself answers this question; They do similar things, with different motivations.

'We've given out X Marbos per store' 'We've only sold 0.3 X Marbos per store' (because nobody went down to their GW for many, varied reasons) = Hurt sales, relative to the potential. (And actual demand). (And also potential short-sighted 'huh, guess nobody wanted Marbo' feedback) A sale is a sale, (or lack of), 'later on anyway' has no impact on how many they'll sell next week. (Well, not a positive one anyway!) Aside from this the whole thing is a ploy to get people to come into a GW store on Boxing Day, obviously, which is fine, but this just isn't the way to convince us. How 'bout a sal-*BLAMMM!* Which is entirely pointless since even if they sell only a few it's still more than not selling them at all and in the long run there won't be any difference since they just keep the models for the actual release and sell them then. Just because there was one day with few sold products it doesn't mean they are hurting their sales ... or do you seriously believe that there are many people who want the model who suddenly won't buy it just because it was available at one day some time before its release? lol even if they sell only a few it's still more than not selling them at all Whut? How shortsighted is that!? How about if they sold it properly as a normal release they'd sell to all of their potential. Saying some is better than none is really setting your sights low. and in the long run there won't be any difference since they just keep the models for the actual release and sell them then. So if there's no difference how about just selling it normally in the first place? or do you seriously believe that there are many people who want the model who suddenly won't buy it just because it was available at one day some time before its release? lol Aside from the fact that the hobby is obviously full of impulse purchases, (so yes-ish, in answer to your question, some people won't want it anymore and some won't be able to budget for it), for clarity, I'm not at all upset by this move, as you say, it doesn't bother me that a model I should be able to buy at some point in the nebulous future is being released at a totally awkward time, I just think it's very, very silly. Also, as I've stated before, arbitrarily-removed-from-codex-characters being brought back as staggered release store exclusives scant weeks after their codex drops, dressed up as 'aren't we good to you?' does nobody in the hobby any favours.

Is this some kind of test to see how many of us are 'dedicated' enough to schlep down to a GW on Boxing Day? I don't get it. It's only going to hurt their sales. It's not like it's digital content, where you can charge a premium to those who want to get things early, but instantly. Most people just won't bother, which looks like apathy for the model, instead of the method.

I spend all this time saying it was bad practice by GW to release it in this manner but you won't accept it, and then it turns out it's resin and half of you won't buy it... ...and I will.

Since he's from GW it's 99% likely it's a plastic model. ^^ Dunno about that, while I certainly hope so, Slammbo, Centos, and Veridyan were GW too and are all resin... That's not how it works. At all. The IG book was printed months in advance (see immediate Commissar patch in reaction to a problem that only became apparent a few months after Index hit, once people actually painted enough conscripts). So, either GW knew Marbo would be delayed way back in May/June, and decided to delete him from book then, giving them clairvoyance powers, or Marbo was always slated to be released 'when he is done' and was delayed by GW power problems, like hauler. Plus, your argument doesn't even really make sense, because if Marbo was in the Codex, everyone would just think these are rules for his old metal mini and no one would have rushed to produce new one, as if a recaster wanted to make not-Marbo, they had plenty of time and opportunities to do it over entire last decade... Your first point is fair. I don't think it requires clairvoyance however to know Marbo would be delayed; either he obviously was, hence why he's coming out now, or he wasn't and they've stockpiled him for later release, which gives no valid reason to drop him from the codex. Of course the codex is prepped months in advance; any releases for it should be too! I think (hope) that the delay was primarily down to the production problems, which are apparently severe. As for your last point, he could never have been in the codex just for the old model, as GW don't make rules in new codexes for entries without models, remember? If the rules were in the codex they would have to produce the model to accompany it, as they have done now. Look at Sergeant Bastonne; generic looking, meant to build your own to match your army, hence uncopyright-able, no model, so now no rules, so now no incentive for GW to bring him back...shame, as he was my favourite low-level dudesman.
