Autumn 2024 Balance Update
TrawlingCleaner replied to N1SB's topic in + NEWS, RUMORS, AND BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS +
TS and Sisters points increases were needed in a competitve setting, same for Dark Eldar and Dark Angels. For most lists, you're dropping a character or maybe a small unit? Orks and Eldar got some points decreases which is nice, maybe not helping Orks that much. It's interesting to see that they're decreasing points on larger units and penalising some units that were MSU spammed. What they really need is to remove snowflake chapter's access to the base detatchments and to give some outperforming units a seperate points cost based on which chapter is taking them. Jump Intercessors should be more expensive for BA etc. They've already done this for BT vehicles and for units being taken outside of IA armies -
What, if anything, should GW do about Legends
TrawlingCleaner replied to ThaneOfTas's topic in + AMICUS AEDES +
Not being in the app is a big one, as you mention, Battlescribe have had the function for so long and it would go a ways to help more people use it. Having a PDF or a printout +the app or codex is a bit of a faff. Updating the Legends rules, even if only once a year kind of defeats the purpose of them I guess? I don't think that's a bad thing mind you. They could produce more of the free narrative missions like they've done previously/ have done for Horus Heresy, feature more Legends units in White Dwarf reports etc. To be frank (and none of this is taking shots at other folks), I think Legends is loudly said to be a negative only really in the online community (and in IRL communities with folks who are heavily online) and the buck kind of stops there. It does become a bit echo chamber-y whenever something goes to Legends. I think more folks in the hobby need to self-advocate for both the way they want to play, however that may be, and be a driving force for the change they want to see in their groups. Passion and enthusiasm for a shared subject or hobby tends to promote more passion. More people would play narrative or casual games if more people advocated for them or organised them. I think there are so few people in real life that are adamant they would never play against Legends and quite frankly, they don't really sound like a fun opponent in any game they'd play. Annecdotally, I've run Legends units against folks practicing for a tournament with zero issues (make sure to check before game day, of course) and run Legends units every chance I can get (Biker lord and Sicaran, my beloveds) -
Warhammer Day 2024

If any of the monogod factions, 40k or AoS, were on the roadmap I'd agree but it's just Slaves to Darkness for the future which only have Bel'akor that's cross compatible. A Skaven Underworlds team and the Commemorative Sorcerer with some teases for the StD releases is probably the sum total of the "Chaos" tease. They're the same folk that gave us "Orktober" with no Ork Releases and the "Season of the Beast" with a single Beasty looking release -
That are still being sold: Dark Eldar (although these are all missing from the site currently): Urien Rakarth Grotesques Court of the Archon Beastmaster+4 different beasts Necrons: Trayzn Nightbringer Deceiver Tau: Farsight drones Orks: Tank Bustas Weirdboyz Deamons: Skull master All of the Exalteds went LCTB back in June and aren't on the site CSM: Noisemarine upgrades Huron has been off the site for about a year SM: Ultra's Honour Guard? Rune Priest Arjac Njal Cyberwolf Sammael Canis Draigo He'Stan Kantor I'm sure there's outliers that I've missed but the bulk of 40k Finecast is in Xenos currently

Calgar & Honour Guard toughness?
TrawlingCleaner replied to Crimson Longinus's topic in + OFFICIAL RULES +
Interestingly, if Calgar and his honour guard aren't Attached to a unit Precision doesn't actually work on them as it's specifically only for Characters in Attached Units: Weird but someimes very useful! -

Thanks! I got absolutely stomped by a Solitare and a Death Jester after nearly killing both and thinking I'd be alright and able to take the hits The two characters killed 10 marines and a Master of Possession in one Turn which was absolutely eye watering. Great game though! The Fists and the Quins players were different people but the Fists player most definitely has an insta account (not that he's posted much recently) "Often classified as Defilers, Forgedrakes are the product of particularly difficult Daemons possessing a Warpsmith's forge, much to their dismay. Although their production may anger their makers, the destruction and fear they sow, only causes elation. After their actions in the Ultramar with other traitor forces, Huron added the Forgedrake to his in a trade of geneseed with the Iron Warriors" I finally found a use for Johann! I stuck a GSC neophyte backpack on and figured he'd be some poor Ultramarine's PDF trooper. Ultramarines of course keeping all the good stuff for themselves, greedy buggers I like the idea of classifications in the Chaos armoury. Although they have STC/Blueprints of their weapons, armour and vehicles, most of their stuff isn't going to come out of the forge looking like the standard thing? Not all Defilers are going to be 6 legged and have X or Y weapons, some might have 3 or have different weapons but would still be "Classed" as a Defiler because they're roughly the right size or can roughly level the right fire power. The Forgedrake and the Yaga pattern 'Fiends have been a really cool addition to my own head-cannon in that regard This also means my Vows for CtA are done! They don't all fit in my light box now they're all based

As GSides mentions, the Tabletop Battles apps work well for tracking missions, points etc but it also allows you to randomise which objectives you pull so you don't need the cards as such. The only problem with this is that it doesn't actually tell you the Secondary mission scoring parameters, just the name of the mission. Great if you know it off by heart! Edit: I'm corrected, it does include the scoring parameters Someone on Reddit created a print out document whilst GW had no stock of the Pariah Nexus deck: It's designed to go in Magic the Gathering or the same size card sleeves, I've done it personally and it works well if you slip a card in behind it or glue it to an MtG card. Saved me a good amount of money too! Pariah Nexus has been very fun for me personally (I don't play SM though), the missions work a bit better and the Gambits are actually achievable which make for better and closer games

Competitive CSM: Pactbound/Renegades
TrawlingCleaner replied to darkseren1ty's topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
Ignoring units you haven't listed here and without transports, quite a chunk of the detatchments strategems are sort of locked off. Warpcharged Engines, Ruinous Raid, the better part of Opportunistic Raiders are unusable with the units you have. Opportunistic Raiders is still an excellent strat though. Obviously all of your units love the additional AP but a large chunk of your army doesn't shoot at all so is only getting -1ap in combat and ignores the rest of the detatchment ability. Whilst the units you have are tougher than the standard legionnaries largely, they're still just T4, T5 infantry which will just get shot off the board. Rhinos can be really important to get your units across the board but possessed, termies and Oblits can't go in those obviously. I think your best bet might be Pact-Bound Zealots or Veterans of the Long War at an absolute push. They seem to benefit your units much better. Competitively speaking, the other detachments are traps and hot garbo unfortunately (Win percentage on the left from this week, win percentage from 11 weeks of play min the middle): Mileage will vary for sure and some detatchments need some element of building into to make them better. Raiders is a great detatchment but needs more building into like Rhinos, mounted units are optional IMO but bikes are excellent, the Chaos Cults detatchment requires you to pretty much only build cultists and Pact-Bound is largely all comers in my experience
