An opportunity that looks like stepping again into a new army...
Hi Folks,
Sometimes maths have a kind of magical power over mind. Such an influence may lead to decisions that might be a little bit irrational. Indeed the rational behind the numbers is not necessarily a good enough or trustable depiction of the irrationality of the question they are supposed to bring an answer to.
Let’s see:
- Genuine Knight Castellan kit = 150€ on GW online
- Genuine Arminger kit = 80€ on GW online
- Sum = 230 €
Eye of Terror limited release box with the same models = 170€, still on GW online. It is therefore a 26% saving vs. individual sets, if you are interested into a Castellan or a Valiant. Not a bad offer btw.
Now, on an independent retailer lost in the middle of nowhere and making most of its sales only online – 136€. 40% savings. It is as if Armingers were free and with an extra reduction.

These maths are implacable. It is an attractive offer made even more attractive and bringing something like 690 army points. A yield of 5 pts/€ invested, maybe one of the most competitive these days (especially if you compare with the 2,2 pts/€ of the AdMech Combat Patrol box). I guess that Aeldarii Corsairs, with their 3,4 pts/€ ratio, are probably one of the most competitive standard offer under the current portfolio; and yet, they are still playing in a distinct category vs. the current limited offer for IK (or CK, it works for these too) if pts per € spent is the metric used for army building.
These maths are implacable (bis). But does it means I had to invest on this box? Probably not. But the opportunity was so juicy…
So what? Now that I committed this unconsidered purchase (again), once painted and added to my 3 Moiraxes and my lone Styrix, it will increase my IK household to 1525 pts. Not enough to go to a “Strike force” format alone, except by fielding a Questor forge pact. Not that bad. Or at least it is what I try to pretend to convince myself.
See you when I will start working on these models, maybe as a Jobs' A Bigg'un Vow in CtA26?
See you soon I guess.
PS1: looks like I am starting now a new army...
PS2: just when my back log was reducing, I am refilling it
