CtA26 - Armigers Warglaive
Hi Folks,
Here comes the final part of my second CtA26 vow: the two Armigers.
These little lads were coming in the Eye of Terror Detachment box. I was not planning painting them now but time left up to the end of the challenge was enough, so I jumped into the project. I have decided to make them as Warglaives. I indeed do not foresee what Helverins would bring too my nacent force as I have already focussed 2 out of 3 big knights in shooty roles and as I have one Moirax with twin lightning locks.
That said, they are not that different from the big knights and previous Moiraxes I did paint job wise: the livery color pattern is the same or close
But I wanted a variant on these smaller chainsaw robots and I finally retained the idea of getting hull stripes such as the ones that can be found on this inspirational model (again and always the same...) :

The decisive factor for making that decision is that hull curvature looks more masking tape friendly on Armigers than on Questoris. The rending is nice even if boths hulls are slightly different. Indeed, I recut the masking tape and the stripes are not exactly on the same width so, while positioning the adhesive tape on the second model there are issues on alignment and tape ordering. If you do not pay too much attention, it is something almost unnoticeable while within the fog of war.
Boy Beta and boy Gamma. I reserve Alpha for a third future one
The models received each one of the skeleton head left from my previous Armiger models. I still have one knightly helmet one left that I may use in the future. I went for carapace melta guns instead of stubbers. Should I go toward a third Warglaive in the future it might be with the machine gun. But meltas do great against MEQ. Or at least it is what I have reached as a selfconviction.
No stars and stripes - just stripes.
I have been less prone to decals on these tiny big robots than on their big cousin. In that case I think that less is more. And I am quite happy with the balance achieved.

Boy Beta gets 2 blood drops. Boy Gamma gets 3 and Alpha will get a single one. Should it become a thing in the future
This ends up for the moment my incursion into the realm of Knights. Even if I am hooked and plan now to develop further that army, it is not expected to happen immediately.
I now have to return to a healthier pattern of alterning ToW and 30/40k models. Time to paint this dwarf gyrocopter waiting for attention since May... And only piece missing to say my little ones army is 100% done.
See you when I will have some space opera stuff to share.
