Korzhu
Claxons ring out. Boarding alarms. Enemies who have pushed past meters-thick armor to infest the corridors of her ship.
The Navarch moved her teams forward in a rush of hushed motion. Blades were drawn, rifles readied. Maked figures slipped into crevices and box junctions; prepared positions set into the ship's decks to provide cover and concealment for its defenders. Hand signals put heavy weapons into optimal ambush patterns, while coded vox clicks informed the sirdars of the Howlbrood where to stage their bloodthirsty charges. Her own demoguars already knew the repellence protocols by heart, drilled into them by her merciless fervor.
Explosions rocked the corridor. Smoke rushed from sharp-edged holes in the walls. Flashes of movement, heavy silver carapace armor and blue flak-clothes. Imperial Naval Breachers. The elite of the False Emperor's mortal Navy.
A smile teased her lips, hidden behind the blank mask and light-amplifying lenses. If the Imperium wished to send their best, she would humor them. A single click and waves of firepower smashed into the Breachers. Pinpoint lasbursts and hard rounds slipped into the small weak points of the armor while melta and plasma blasts destroyed it outright. Breachers fell but more pushed forward, firing volleys of shot and las. A double-click/hiss, and the Navarch unleashed the Howlbrood.
Screaming curses and praise to their lords, the frenzied mass of fighters slammed into the Breachers. Crude blades and bludgeons harvested from ship's components bashed the silver armor of the Breachers, found gaps and tasted flesh. The Howlbrood lived up to their name, howling with victory as the Imperial soldiers died to a man. The ritual flaying of the bodies would happen soon.
Korzhu simply signaled her forces to the next breach. Her work wasn't done and only after victory was achieved would the Still Order celebrate.
Korzhu, Navarch of the Still Order
The Silent Marshal
You call us cursed, damned, traitors. Name us mad. Mayhaps. I know my duty and where to stand at the end of all.
- Navarch Korzhu
Among the countless mortal souls who serve the Shrikeborn, few command greater respect than Korzhu, Navarch of the Still Order. Neither a warlord nor a demagogue, Korzhu leads through discipline, example, and an unwavering devotion to duty. While many of the Shrikeborn's followers descend into cultism or blood-fever, the Navarch has spent decades ensuring the Still Order remains a force of soldiers rather than zealots.
Born aboard the warship Tenebris Vox, Korzhu has never seen a true sky. Her world has always been steel decks, dim lumen strips, and the echoing thunder of distant guns. Raised within the strict martial traditions of the Still Order, she rose through its ranks by surviving boarding actions, void engagements, and planetary raids with a reputation for calm judgment under fire. By the time she ascended to Navarch, few living mortals could rival her experience.
Korzhu's appearance mirrors the force she commands. Her armor is immaculate despite decades of warfare, her rebreather marked only by a single lightning motif inherited from a distant ancestor who once served the VIII Legion itself. She speaks rarely, preferring hand-signs and coded vox-clicks, and her troops have learned to read entire battle plans from the slightest movement of her gloved hand.
Though fiercely loyal to the Shrikeborn, Korzhu harbors no illusions about what they are. She has witnessed Astartes tear apart tanks with their bare hands and watched brothers of the warband succumb to madness and mutation. Yet her loyalty endures, not because she worships them, but because she believes they preserve the last fragments of order and purpose inherited from lost Nostramo.
To the foes of the Shrikeborn, she is an unsettling sight: a mortal officer whose soldiers advance without fear, without panic, and above all, without a word.
