A Daemon army in 66+ some odd days

I’m behind on this army overall. As far as Mr. Taker is concerned, he got a bit of a revamp this weekend. I got one of the new Khorne Lords on Jugger and reworked my Skulltaker accordingly.

Still no paint but it’s getting to be about that time. I haven’t decided if I’m going to make his jugger more metallic colored vs. the Khorne red. I’ll start painting once I’ve made up my mind which should be before year-end if past performance is any indicated of future results.

I have an idea about skulltaker's jugger, if you cant decide between metal and the blood effect (bear with me, this looks awesome in my head, but may be a bad idea, probably is, but it may be worth a mention.) Why dont you try putting you blood mix into the metalics? So it looks like he has killed so may people wile on it, that their blood have become as much a part of the jugger as its horn. Please tell me if im being dumb or if it is impossible.

As for being behind in your army, you are getting fantastic models from it so, if you dont meet the deadline then does it really matter? You may not have them for a tournament but better that then rush them and end up with models as good as mine (im a bad painter, so you know) :Troops:

And as always, keep up the great work.

Out of curiosity how did you make your bases? As they look absolutely stunning

The bases are a rework of, Mirco Art Studio’s Temple Bases.

Check out their web site as they sell a lot of very interesting models & bases that fit into the scale and context of 40k (and WHFB for that matter).

Thanks as always for the comments. -OMG

Remember way back when I mentioned wanting to make some Daemon specific terrain to go with the army? We’ll here’s item #1; at least as a WIP.

I recognize those rocks in the back of the second picture. They're the ones that came with your Prince right?

That’s correct. I thought that it would serve perfectly as your basic, garden variety blood soaked sacrificial altar stone. Looking forward to painting it.

Nicer Grey Hunter (or possibly Grey Slayer, can't tell)

He’s my first attempt at a pre-heresy Luna Wolf. I think I made the off-white armor way too off and not enough white.

Thanks for the comments gents. Cheers, -OMG

…and this tread rises from its fresh grave into the half light of forum post threadromancy. Well borderline threadromany anyway.

As stated previously in this thread, the original 66 day restriction was due to the fact that I’ve made a commitment to a team based tournament event and I have to get my Luna Wolf army ready for that as opposed to work on my Daemons. So, sorry to report that things have not progressed at all since the last update above. That piece of terrain still exists in the same state as you see, devoid of sand, paint, smeared blood stains and all.

So, I will return to the daemon army come April, after the team event takes place. I have a ton of new ideas for the KoS, Fateweaver & other models I’d like to add to the army. Not to mention that I do NEED to finish off all the converted & yet unpainted models that are left outstanding.

So it’s my hope to start a new thread when I can again point the brush in their direction (Unless I end up buying a mess of the upcoming IG models and become woefully distracted by my long neglected Vostroyan army. Shuuuush.)

So expect more in the not too distant future and thanks for the interest.

I really like your take on the skulltaker. (no pun intended).

It looks like a skulltaker head on a Belakor (WHFB demon prince) body, on a WHFB Chaos Khorne Lord Juggernaught. In which case, that is like $80 worth of stuff for that one model, not counting the base or the skull resin cape. (not sure how you got that cape).

It's pretty awesome, I like it.

It would be neat if he could fit on the back of the juggernaught, since he's supposed to be riding it, but maybe he's too big to fit on there. Anyway, I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but I'm not sure yet. I was thinking the Herald on Juggernaught model would be a good base for a skulltaker model- well, cheaper at least.

The net benefit of having him standing (you need to use such an expense efficiently) is that you could use him as a standing or mounted model. I.e., don't glue the standing model down and have a reserve base to represent him as infantry.

Otherwise, to get Bel'akor(sp?) to sit on the jugger it would take a good deal of breaking, repositioning & green stuffing. It could be done, maybe with only sacrificing the tail but that's not for me. I'm just as happy with the standing model.
