The colour is Iraqui Sand(VMC) shaded with Bastion Grey (P3) and highlighted with Skull White(GW)

Ive since added glazes of English Uniform(VMC) to yellow it

will have more pics whenever i finish up the last bit of stuff

i dont like telions cloak as much as the others tbh :S

other than that astounding as usual

how will you be basing them? or will you be cooking something up with your S!CK painting skillz

EDIT~: oh wait are they blue tacked to the base or glued? some seem to be tacked down?

whats the air intake on the bonet of the jetbike and the coils behind it from?

telions cloak and the snipers cloaks have been touched up, the snipers got more yellowed, and telions got more greyed

they are pinned, and glued, the jetbike itself is just stuck in for easier transport i can remove it

the jetbike uses only jetbike parts(and servo arms) the rest is sculpting work

Heres the shot showing the part of the army i will sell...i made adjustments to the army that i enjoy more, so i decided to get rid of these as they wont fit in my case with the army, and maybe make it so i actually made a profit off building this army instead of your usual loss :P

its the same style painting as the rest, its just the colour choice that changes the result

imnot sure what i used exactly, likey a combination of dwarf flesh, elf flesh and english uniform VMC...add a redish colour(dakr flesh, hull red VMC, red gore etc) to redden aroud nose and brow and on the cheeks....a stronger yellowish hue on the sides of the temple and sides of the mouth, highlight is by adding white and iraqui sand VMC likely

I rushed some of the other faces so they arent as tanned feeling, but that was the objective with these guys and why i yellowed their skin more

the colours themselves dont matter, they just change the skin colour, the placement is what matters, need ideas? look at pictures of faces! :) thats where I figured it all out, well that and real life of course

The rest of the marines :)

airbrushing complete, now its finishing em up!!

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll18/BionicCow/Scorpions/000_1737.jpg

Some more progress...

im debating the style for his freehand, im leaning towards top right, right now

anyways its going quite fast, it doesnt even feel like ive painted for 6 hours yet and i already almost have most of them done...basically a few details, skin and line and wash the green :) oh and likely add a brighter highlight, i am runnig out of my highlight colour so couldnt get the right mix when airbrushing

These marines are amazing! I'm still a little confused about you technique though. Basecoat(brown), hairspary to hold salt on, airbrush (green/turquoise), piant and highlight, wash off salt and hiarspray. Is that correct?? This may seem really stupid but how do you do about washing off the salt and hairspray?? Dunking them in water would surely ruin the paint a bit and I don't think brushing would quite work??? Incredible job though. They look so original.

hairspray....water....or water+future floor wax to adhere the salt...aim for the smaller granule of salt

spray brown, apply salt, spray green...spray highlight, washed the salt all off, and then hand painted

as for washing, you actually do dip them under water briefly, or run the toothbrush under water and scrub your models....sometimes the salt will get stuck on so you may have to rub a couple times to get it off...let them dry off ni between and you will see the salt stains at times to rub again, or see some bumps

I have to try that salt technique. I wonder if I could get away with doing it with just basic spray paint rather than investing with an airbrush.

Seeing as how I have no money since I'm a college student. Hell, I don't even know if I have time for painting. Getting rid of the girlfriend is always a possibility... :)

Depending on what you need or want the airbrush to do, you can pick up some great deals on eBay. I only use my airbrush for basic bascoating, and I picked it up, along with my compressor (water trap, gauge/regulator, AND air tank) for about $110 CDN.

A good buddy of mine was talking about how he picked up a really nice airbrush. He also talked about getting a compressor from Home Depot. I have over a company's worth of marines that I'd like to paint. I'm sick of painting my old army, and I really want to paint a nice looking army quickly.

Its either airbrushing or drybrushing.

The free-hand cloak is absolutely superb. I really can not get over how good these marines are. Every time I come back to this post I'm absolutely amazed! I really want to have a go on that salting technique, but unfortunately painting templars. Do you think it would work with tin bitz/gunmetal as base coats, salting and black over the top???

Please keep us posted!!!

The salting technique will work with any color, just ensure sufficient contrast between your under/basecoat and your overcoat.

blah photobucket hates me!!!! curse them.....as for the salt technique, as DV8 mentioned, it works with any colour...for silvers its a bit tricky because they are very intense, what i recommend is to do a wash of devlan mud over the silver...let it dry, then pply the salt, then apply the black...the wash will tone it down enough that it will look both less ridiculous, and slightly worn....if you find large spots a bit too blah, you can take a graphite pencil and apply highlights to the silver "chipping" in places....make sure that if you choose the pencil route to seal your models with dullcoat after or it will rub off...alternatively, you should be able to use hairspray as well

if you choose to highlight with paint, use a boltgun+mithril mix so its not too intense...the ending effect may not be what you desire, so test it out before you go and do your whole army, my ideas may not convey well to your techniques or your ideas, so the end result may be different in my mind then what you end up with

alternatively, you could use two colours for the underlayers to gain a bit more contrast or variation...its an extra layer to spray on, but you may like the result
