IC:

Inquisitor Draken watched silently as the Crimson Moon Chaplin moved silently within the antichamber of the temple, concecrating it in the name of the Emperor in reverant prayer. He always thought it odd to watch the Chaplin in his work, as even in his terminator armor, the man could move without making a sound. When asked about his unusual silence, the Chaplin simply responded. "Our blood is fallen, silent penance is our sacred honor, revered vengeance is our solomn duty." One day, hannibal knew that the 'revered vengeance' would include him as well, but until then, their cause was unitied with him.

"Friend? We have destroyed the Dark Idols as you requested of us, but as we have done so, we have heard a great many things." The host said as it loped towards him. Pulling out of his brooding, Hannibal continued to watch the Chaplin at his work, now and again eyeing the Space Marines and his own Stormtroopers work to stand the temple up as a temporary ground base. "And?" He simply replied after the Host moved close to him. "There are many here as well, some we know, some you know, and those that evade control." It said, smiling at him. "We have heard whispers of One who consorts with us, Basavriuk. Might we start with him?" It finished, cackling at the thought.

Basavriuk... That name was familiar to him, after thinking about it. He might have known him in passing, but that was long ago, back before he was termed radical himself. This would explain the abundance of the Conclave, though not so much as to why so many of them would make the mistake of grouping themselves all in one place known to be rife with the ruinous powers. Looking at the Host, he nodded to it in agreeance. "See if you can link with one of his psykers, if any. He might have information we need, or might help us in locating the artifact. But, I don't want him to know where we are just yet, it might be particularly bad for us if one of those fanatics catches hint of your power." Nodding, the Host moved further into the temple to find an area that had not yet been concecrated, furthering the strength of it's own power. Everyone in the Antichamber took pause to watch the Host leave. It was then he realised that all eyes were on them the entire time.

From here on he would have to be very careful...

OOC:

On an off note... should this be any kind of living story... good idea might be to sticky it...

[ooc] I sent shunch a PM, but then looked at his profile and saw that he hasn't posted for about a month... I'm still catching up, and I had an idea for a character (which I sent to Shunch). Should I post it here, or send it to someone else (as in, has someone else taken over?), or just wait?

This RP has piqued my curiosity now, for some reason even though it didn't beore)... heh. I guess it is a bit late to be joining.

Well, we've decided to get our act together and actually go after Basavriuk, but very soon there will come a point where we can't go on without Shunch, simply because we don't know what Basavriuk is up to. Unless he turns up soon, time is not an issue. I don't think anyone has actually taken over from Shunch though, we've just all been killing time with our sub-plots and conspiracies, and taking the chance to flesh out our characters.
OOC: The same can be said of my radical... but after a certain point of waiting, I kinda gave up, which is also why he is kinda out of the main loop as of now(hiding out in a random temple) as soon as I get a confirm or deny is when I will either take a more active roll, or disappear back into the cosmos.
*OOC*

Guy's, it's open to anyone, the first page says that oming shunch isn't like a test to join or anything, as far as I know it was just so he could keep the cast updated, so Melissia, if you wanna join go ahead. :HS:

{OOC} He's right you know. I joined about 2 days before Shunch disappeared and to be honest I never did get a return PM. I figured that a lone inquisitor and a servo skull were pretty low on the alert scale so after a few days I just joined in. And look at me now. :Troops:

{IC Day 3, 1215 TST} The thunderhawk was a surprisingly smooth flight despite its bulk and complete lack of aerodynamics. And through out the flight Inquisitor Decklan sat close enough to the auspex to see what was going on. He imagined he could see the auspex ghosting the whole time, but he knew that wasn't true, the daemons were loosed. He sat in that seat slowly loading psycannon round after psycannon round into his Bolt pistols clips and double checking his kit. A tingle of his senses told him to look up.

"Hard contact in the jungle. Bearing North North East 2 miles. No immediate heat signature but that's not telling us much in this rain." Said the techmarine over his shoulder. Looking at the screen there sure enough was a blip there and a solid one at that. "Our recon shows signs of temple structures could it be one of them?" Asked the Inquisitor. "Could be but there's some armor with it if it is." Was the Techmarine's reply. Decklan thought on this for a moment considering the options. " Right then, Ask the pilot to head that direction and circle twice so we can get a clearer picture of whats down there." Inquisitor Decklan then turned to Hayes who seemed to be lost in thought. "Hayes. Could you please have your astropath inform Inquisitor Ryas of what we found? Told you he'd be useful."

{OOC} I left this one pretty open for you guys and hopefully have slowed the storyline for Shunch's return to us. And for that we can only hope. :FA:

*In character*

Hayes elbowed Fralon,

"You heard the man, get to it."

"You expect me to be able to concentrate in this flying tin can? It takes enormous amounts of -"

Hayes elbowed him again, harder.

"Get on with it, and stop complaining."

"All right, all right. I'll find somewhere 'quiet'."

Fralon mentally began calming himself, and began to walk towards the ladder to the lower hold. Suddenly the Astropath cried out. In a flash over a dozen weapons of varying types were being pointed at his head by the assembled Inquisitors.

"No, no, it's all right!", he gasped. "I . . . I stubbed my toe."

He blushed. Hayes in particular did not look happy at all.

"Get out and get on with it!"

Hayes aimed a kick at the Astropath, sending him scurrying down the ladder.

"Inquisitor Decklan, I think it would be best if Inquisitor James and I hang further back, we will wait and privoce backup should you need it." Turning to the other Inquisitor, Levinski continued "Is that OK with you Inquisitor?"

IC:

Ryas watched the Space Hulk with some concern. He didn't trust the monstrosity in orbit and wouln't. It was a concern amongst a thousand other concerns as he monitored the situation on the ground through the Strategiums holotank. Behind him the head of the Astropathic choir kept a distance to remain as far as possible from the Inquisitor lest his Pariah effect cause any harm. But the robed figure managed to conceal its revulsion and keep him updated on the psychic activity on the ground.

Unfortunately there was a lot of it and widespread.

"My Lord," The Astropath spoke up, "I just received an Astropathic message from the surface, Inquisitor Decklan. They have located what appears to be Temple Structures with Armoured support."

Ryas turned back to the Strategium after aknowledging he heard the Astropaths message. "Highlight grid AE-99-B62" The strategium changed from a globe with several blips to two holograms one of a globe hanging resolutely in the corner and another demonstrating the ground region specified. "Magnify Grid Reference 9X." The servitor slaved to the machine complied with the relative co-ordinate system and highlighted the grid reference.

The Admiral of Ryas' fleet examined the display. "Looks like a tough nut to crack." The overlain data presented by the fleet gave a decent coverage but with gaps.

"Inform the transports to deploy two Squadrons of tanks and a Baneblade to these co-ordinates," He handed the Admiral a reference twenty kilometres from the temple, just beyond any possible AA systems, anything with enough range to hit that landing site would have been easily spotted from orbit. "Also send four Basilisk artillery platforms and a regiment of Cadians, Astropath convey the same message to Decklan with the projected landing site, he's our man on the ground for this one and will take operation command to secure the temple."

"Yes my lord." The Astropath said suppressing the bile rising up in his throat just from being in the same room as Ryas, as far as blanks went Ryas was very high on the scale.

"Put me through to the Lord-General," a moment later the comm chattered to life, "General, you have a mission," he gave the general the force disposition, "you are to send your best commander to take military control of the forces, he will be under Inquisitor Decklans command for the operation, once the target is secured, and possible destroyed, you are to return the forces to the landing site where you will be returned to orbit, that is all." Ryas cut the comm. He turned to the Admiral. "Prepare a single squadron of Fury Interceptors, I want them to provide air support for the attack if required."

Ryas hoped that it was worth it.

At the edge of the loyalist Inquisitors' camp, a converted civilian lander-- complete with extra armor plating and a black paint coat with white symbols of the Inquisition on it-- dropped down and landed. Quickly, the passengers disembarked; twenty five guardsmen, in black carapace armor that has definitely seen better days, each with pock marks and scars simply painted over more often than not. The sole exception of which led the troops towards the camp, and started looking around asking for an "Inquisitor Tyrak", holding a datapad in her hand and looking rather stressed out and annoyed.

The woman stood at an unimpressive five feet, six inches in height, and wore finely crafted armor. A master-crafted power sword was sheathed in its metal case to her right side, and a lasgun was slung across her back. A ponytail of wavy brown hair stuck out of the back of her helmet, and she ran her fingers through the strands as some of the servants of the Inquisitors present informed her that Lord Tyrak was nowhere to be found.

Upon confirming it with yet another servant, her common, uncommanding voice issued out, not hiding her exhasperation and even hints of exhaustion: "By the Emperor's light... why can't anything ever go according to plan?" She turned to her guardsmen, and stated in a somewhat more confident voice: "Men, at ease. Try not to piss anyone off, I've lost enough of you already. If we're lucky, we'll just get sent back off-planet and get some R&R." The remaining men and women move towards the landing spot, and began to talk amongst themselves, as Captain Taylor began to figure out who was in charge here...

[ooc] Okay... white text for Captain Taylor's voice, makes it easier for me anyway. Also, I hope I got the situation right anyway...

"Inquisitor Decklan, I think it would be best if Inquisitor James and I hang further back, we will wait and privoce backup should you need it." Turning to the other Inquisitor, Levinski continued "Is that OK with you Inquisitor?"

Ic

"Sure,Decklan, my thunderhawk will drop off my marines, and then fall back to provide support if neccesary"

OOC: aww... is all that massed firepower for lil old me??

IC:

"As of now Lord Inquisitor, we have four of our sacred rhinos planetside, the Chaplin's Godhammer, and your own Godhammer." the second squad sergeant said to Hannibal, walking with him as he inspected the defenses. "Troops?" He asked, stopping to look over a rhino being checked over by a tech servitor. "Four tactical squads, the 'Death Spectre' Vanguard, as well as the Chaplin's Terminatus." He responded, looking down at his holopad. "We should have one devestator squad coming down with their razorback by the next morning." The Inquisitor nodded, moving on to the next vehicle. "Turret defenses?" He asked, rolling a shoulder slightly. He always hated tedious tasks such as this, but it was alwyas neccisary to check vehicle conditions before any useage, combat or otherwise. "Only heavy bolter tarantulas right now Lord, spread out in perimeter around the temple complex. The next landing should be bringing at least two manticore launchers with it." the sergeant responded. Nodding, Hannibal moved to the last rhino, though turned and looked out into the jungle. "That will have to do..." He said. Sighing, he looked at the marine. "Carry on then. Once the vehicles have had their maintainance done, move them into the more heavily built temple structures. We don't want to be left in the open with enemies planetside." He ordered, looking back into the jungle. Bowing his head slightly, the sergeant half turned before saying, "Yes Lord Inquisitor." before moving on to get status updates from the servitors. In a way, Hannibal admired the tenacity of the marines that served under him, it could not have been easy, having to utilise admech without there being an actual techmarine present, but then, nothing was easy after being labeled traitor.

Back in the command center, an unsuited marine manning a console stood as soon as Hannibal entered. "My Lord, I beleive there is an issue that must be addressed." He said, motioning to the vid display. Walking to stand next to the marine, he studied the marks on the display in a brooding manner. "Lord Inquisitor, reading sent to us from Fortress of the Indominatable indicate that xenos presence is off to our east, and heading in on the west appears to be a thunderhawk transport with an escort of valkryies." The Marine stated, sitting back down at the console. "the contingent seems to have changed their heading slightly, but as the xenos presence lies on the same path of travel as we do, it is hard to tell if they have noticed us or not as of yet." With a pause, he turned to look at Hannibal. "Lord Inquisitor, on a side note, it seems that an armored convoy has started to move as well, though, with the xenos as well as us within a few sectors of each other, it is hard to say which is their target." He finished, his face set with dead expression, as well as the rest of the marines on command duty. In his opinion, they all had a right to be. This was dire news indeed, as if they were noticed by either group heading in their general direction, all the work they had done to track down the artifact would have been for nothing. Shacking his head, he turned and started walking deeper into the temple. "Carry on marines, the Emperor shall see us through this day at least." Hannibal said, though it hardly made anyone feel any better.

As he walked, he suddenly remembered the Host. It had to silence it's attempts to contact the heretic, else all would be for nothing. Breaking out into a run, he made his way down into the catacombs of the temple, where the host was trying to contact anything near Basavriuk. With a thought, Hannibal's hands burst with psychic energy, casting odd shadows that played on the rough surfaces of the corridor. Rounding a corner, he reached out and pressed an open hand upon the hosts shoulder, searing the daemonbound flesh of the host. As the creature screamed in agony, it dropped to the floor, it's concentration broken. Withdrawing his hand from the host, he sighed as the burning energy faded from his hands. Looking up at Inquisitor Draken, the host tried to stand, but was too weakened by Hannibal to move too much. "You need us... Why?" It asked shakily. "There are both a flying, as well as an armored convoy approaching from the west, we need to try and keep from being noticed, else our search shall have been for nothing." He said, sighing with some releif. "If they do spot the marines, then they spot the marines, and they will know what to do to see the convoys on their way, however you must keep hidden from them, or the ruse will be up. There may be enough of them that are too new to remember myself, so I should be okay speaking to them if I must. You stay down here, heal, and be ready for when you are needed." He said, turning and making his way back up to the antichamber. This would be a long mission indeed...

*OOC*

Well, unless Shunch comes back, it won't end :D Which frankly I'm happy about, not that Shunch isn't here, just that we can keep going for as long as we want. Oh, and no you can't just interrupt, you'll have to make a character and join in :P

[ooc] Heh. Oddly enough, I fully expect every one of them except Captain Taylor to die in the roleplay, sooner or later.

OOC oh I wouldn't say that, in a living RP on another forum Im on, a character fully expected to die at the very begginning of the story survived everything that was thrown at him, and now is one of the main characters... Now no one will write in him being killed off.... unless it is in a suitably(and most completely) an epic manner.

That said, I wouldn't write off your troopers just yet. B)

I can guarantee that not a single soul under Stanislaus' command that is planet side will be seen again after everything is over. But none of you will know why until it happens.

Ah, similar to what Tyrak tried? This is the Inquisition, we're all conspirators here!
