Vadskær
Hello all, and Merry Christmas ;) Thanks for all the comments guys! You're right that the Berserker sculpt really isn't great. Especially the arms aren't great. But hey, they're heretic scum, so that's just some well deserved come-uppins' ;) I had a lot of doubt regarding the helmet on the Berserker. I first painted the helmet red, but that just looked silly. When I got it painted black and highlighted and shaded, it came out quite nice. I really tried to differentiate the gold effect with layers of Devlan Mud, Gryphonne Sephia and purple washes so as to create a look that looked somewhat old and not "right" as compared to the bright gold on the DA. Alright, nuff talk! I've been quite bussy and here's the result: Interrogator Chaplain Jeremias! This is a cool, old sculpt which was really a pleasure to paint. The left arm is plastic and the combi-plasma is from a terminator librarian. The base is from Scibor, and, in a rare display of consistency painted in the same colours as the bases for the two previous Sternguards <_< Better pictures will follow once I'm home again. /vadskær
Rob_Loken
Nice mini as always Vadskaer. I really like the bone colour you've achieved on him. And the white vents are an interesting touch. Is that combi weapon from the chaos termi kit or is it scratch built?

Hey Brother Duncs, Thanks, yeah I just wanted to do something with the backpack so it wasn't all black :) The combi weapon is from the loyalist termie librarian blister. pattison
Friggin awesome again. I own the same chaplain model, but I need a jump pack one for my army. Actually the figure is really cool, I mean I've tried to fit a jump pack on the back, but it covers the nice detailed shoulder pad, so it would e a waste... Really clean paintjob as always. Props! Hey Sir P, Thanks - glad you like it :) Hmm, instead of putting a jump pack on this model - and then totally obscurring the shoulder pad, why not buy the jump pack chaplain that GW produces? I also own that one, and I think it's really cool! On this chaplain even a normal backpack obscurres the shoulder pad somewhat. I filed the back flat since it would mean that his backpack was placed ridicously high on him. If anybody is interested, the face is painted with the same recipe as the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass Sergeant Lorenzo from Space Hulk, featured in White Dwarf. The only thing I did differently was to tone down the highlights with a light wash of Ogryn Flesh to blend the different tones better together. /vadskær

Yeah, that's what I'll have to do. I like that model too, I just wanted to use this lad somehow, but now I think that the jumppack one will be painted as an Iron Knights chaplain (and will go with my IK assault squad), so I can still paint this model as an Imperial Fists chap. I like your finish of the face, it's very real-looking, but what I like even more is the small winged skull on the left kneepad. I don't know why it's just simply as it should look like. Fortsæt Happy Holidays! pattison
Feytor
I like it, but you could use a wash or ink on the golden parts of the armor.
Vadskær
I like it, but you could use a wash or ink on the golden parts of the armor. Hello Feytor, The golden parts has recieved both a wash of devlan mud and gryphonne sephia. Also the larger gold parts have been shaded with a 1:1 mix of scorched brown and chaos black. I intentionally re-highlighted them to that super-polished look. However, I must say that some of the effect might be a result of the flash on my fathers camera. As previously mentioned, I will take new photos with my usual light source and my own camera - probably tomorrow. :)

SnorriSnorrison
Hi, I just came along to tell you, Vadskær, that your painting skills are perfectly awesome. Especially your standard bearer is one of the best freehands I have ever seen, I love the cleanliness of your freehands and especially your colour choice. All that together make your miniatures a joy to look at! Have I read it over, or have you indeed worked for the `Eavy Metal team? Your painting skills are on the same level, so again, I applaud your minis! Happy yule! Snorri

Hope you had a nice Christmas, if you celebrate it, or if not, just some nice holidays :D Thanks a lot for your comments Snorri, but alas, I have never worked for the 'Eavy Metal team. I would, however, very much like to do so even though I don't think my skills are that good yet. Does anybody know how to apply? Alright, I promised you some better pictures of my little diorama and my chappy, so here goes: And a detail shot of the face: And here's the DA vs. Khorne-soon-to-be-reduced-to-a-bloody-pulp-berzerker diorama

Vadskær
@ Dejay: Thanks mate! :tu: @ Terminatorinhell: For the face of the Chaplain (I assume that's what you mean) I followed the recipe in the White Dwarf issue dealing with the new Space Hulk edition. Therein was a Painting Masterclass for Sergeant Lorenzo of the Blood Angels by Anja Wettergren with only a minor tweak or two. Here's how I did it: Basecoat with a couple of thin coats of Tallarn Flesh Heavy wash or two with watered down Dark Flesh all over the face/head Midtone of 1:1 mix of Tallarn Flesh and Dwarf Flesh (thinned, of course) Another wash, this time of tinned-down Scorched Brown - I now concentrated on the furrows Highlight with 1:1:1 mix of Tallarn Flesh, Dwarf Flesh and Bleached Bone was thinned and then used I added to more stages of the above mix each time with an additional drop of Bleached Bone, and of course a bit more water to keep the paint thin Next highligt was pure Bleached Bone Finally a 1:1 mix of Bleached Bone and Skull White was used Then I did a light was of Ogryn Bone to tone down some of the highlights a bit and blend the individual layers better together. The metal parts were done this way: Undercoat with Chaos Black Basecoat with Boltgun Metal Wash a couple of coats of Babdab Black with a heavy concentration in the deepest areas Highlight with Chainmail Extreme highlight with a bit of Mithril Silver. The eye in the metal skull was first painted Mechrite Red, then Blood Red and finally dotted with Vomit Brown. Cheers, /vadskær
Vadskær
Hey all, YAY, my Templar Knight aka. Dark Angel Lord finally arrived today, and as promised I wasted no time in shooting a couple of pictures for your viewing pleasure. My initial thoughts are that the model looks very nice, but he's somewhat larger than a normal marine - about a centimeter more than a normal marine. But, since he's supposed to be a HQ-badass guy, I don't think this will create any fuss. Let me know what you think of him! The sword isn't all that bad, but I might swap it for one that has a bit more detail on it. The guards seem somewhat bland. Also, his head is a bit small so maybe a swap for a cool GW-marine head will be good. /vadskær Front views Side/rear views

Vadskær
Wait where is that Templar Knight model from? Hi Brother Ash, It's a limited edition Templar Knight produced by an Italian guy. It is limited to 300 models, and mine was number 51. Here's a link to his page on eBay. If you're interested you can write to him. I paid 50 USD + postage for the model. http://shop.ebay.com/hotlead70/m.html?_nkw...p;_trksid=p3686 /vadskaer

I dont think he has anymore :) but the model looks sweet I know you'll do an amazing job on it! According to the link, there are still a few left. Really nice looking models. I must say I am supprised GW hasn't tried to shut this guy down. Several of the figures are definaty based on Space Marines. How ever, I am strongly concidering ordering one myself  Hey all, YAY, my Templar Knight aka. Terminatorinhell
I just wish the guy made a Rogal dorn, but back on the topic, he did a great job on the Dark Angel and since you are painting it Vadskaer, it should look suitably epic!
