Vadskær
'Evening Gents, Thanks for your comments, Kable & Zanrian - always good to know you like what I post. Here's something more :) This is a model from the "old" metal Death Company box from GW. I bought them some while ago, and I've painted it up in my DA green colours. I plan on trying out some assault-themed armies with the new BA codex (yeah, I know, I'm bandwagoning big time) and they fit nicely into a coming assault/death company unit. I had great fun painting the gems on the armour and the lenses on the helmet and the sculpt is generally really good with nice, crisp details. Mounted on a Scibor base, as usual. C&C always welcome - and yes, if you want, we can discuss the whole bandwagoning thingy :) /vadskær

Zanrian
Bah... Four days ago I was so proud of my own Marines. Now I just want to throw myself in the ocean. Oh well, I can always blame my genes for my failure. :)
cathar the great
I really dig your latest work. You have this crisp and clean style that I really like a lot. The blood drop on the shoulder-pad does make him look a lot like Blood Angels. Everything else works quite well in DA colors, too. The base is also cool. I got some of those Temple-bases from Scibor in 30mm and I'm really looking forward to painting them. Cheers, and keep up the great work, Peter
Vadskær
Hi Gents, @ Zanrian: Of course you should be proud of your marines! You got a whole bunch painted and ready to go :) I've posted in your thread for some follow-up info on your models. Feel free to ask any Q's you might have if you want to challenge your painting skills. @ cathar the great: Thanks for the praise :P I've sometimes wondered if I should attempt to do more weathering on my marines, but I feel that I really like the clean, crisp look. It also challenges me a lot because you just can't cover-up any flaws or mistakes as "battle-damage". I agree that the tear shaped gem is quite BA-looking but I thought it would be a shame to alter the fine sculpt. Anywho, since DA doesn't have a really competitive codex, I just play green marines rules wise. Cheers!
Brother-Captain Sharp
Ya know, it wouldn't take much filing and GS to make that drop a sword... I really like him. Crisp clean painting. The base sets off his dark armor nicely. Well done, Battle-Brother.
voi shet magir
Ya know, it wouldn't take much filing and GS to make that drop a sword... but it is so shiny now. maybe the next one can have a banner, if the world will really end otherwise. Plus, knee checks are fancy.
Vadskær
Hello all, @ Brother-Captain Sharp: Yeah, I know, but then I could just as easily have switched the metal shoulderpad for something else, more DA like from my bits box. But I kinda like the whole X and skulls on the shoulderpads and I don't think the gems look off. DA's often have gems on their armour so it's not completly alien to them. And thanks for the praise - always welcome ;) @voi shet magir: You're right...it's shiny and gem'like after four layers of varnish. The knee checks are the marking of the 4th company (I think!?). At least that's some little pure DA bit on him :P /vadskær

Vadskær
ITS ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! Great work as ever ;) Oh yeah! :D Here's the next fellow from the Death Company box. This one is without gems but with additional bling on the lower knees. Again, super crisp sculpt and a pleasure to paint. Base from Scibor. I'm off to Copenhagen for the weekend, but I hope to bring a new treat for you on Monday. Stay tuned  /vadskær
Vadskær
Hello all, I missed my deadline for Monday, but here's a real treat for all of you! I found this cool old sculpt from 1997 on eBay for a few bucks, and I just had to own him. He's a real classic - the details are great and the pose is oldschool awesomeness :) Real pleasure painting him. As usual I got carried away and dit some freehand on the kneepad and the shoulderpad which took some time. Armour is the same green as the usual DAs but it might seem a bit dark, as the lighting wasn't fantastic when I shot these pictures. Hope you like him! /vadskær
Cyrox
Very nice, i love that old mini, i remember playing second edition and buying that! Can i get your Green recipe please? :)

Vadskær
Hello Gents, @ Cyrox: Thanks for the comment - wow, I didn't realise it was a 2nd ed. miniature! The recipe for my green is as follows: Undercoat: Chaos Black Basecoat: Orkhide shade Do two lightly thinned coats over the whole model of 3:1 Dark Angels Green and Snot Green Shade the recesses w. Babdab Black 1st highlight: snot green 2nd highlight: 2:1 snot green and bleached bone 3rd highlight: 1:1 snot green and bleached bone final touches: use the 3:1 dark angels green and snot green mix to tidy up any mistakes and make the highlights sharp, thin and crisp. @ pattison: Thanks for the praise - always nice to hear you like it  /vadskær
SnorriSnorrison
Hi Vadskær, nice to see that you´re still rocking the paint station! Awesome minis as usual, and although the DC models are a tad Blood Angel-ish(well, they are supposed to, eh? ) they look great. The Captain is a fine piece as well, especially the freehand on his shoulderpad and knee are incredible. Great work! Your highlighting technique is also my favourite one - I am using the same, sharp highlights, and while looking at your Captain, I will try to improve my skills further. Great work! Justicar Valius
Great work as ever. But, one thing is wrong with this thread... The Lion has not yet appeared painted. Please can you paint him with all your awseomeness? Please?
jah-joshua
nice job on that old school Captain... all the freehand you've done on him looks really good, and is a nice throwback to the 90's style... the heraldry on his right shoulder is awesome... keep up the good work... cheers jah
Cain Tiberius Kondrad
I consider myself to be a fairly competent modeler/painter. But I pale to you Vadskær. I truely envy your awesome skills... In a nice way though, lol. But you never disappoint. Your latest works are amazing as always my friend. And who cares what symbols are on their shoulders? They look cool and you chose them. What else matters? :tu: 1 question though. Where are the bases on your latest minis from? Or how did you make them? CTK
Vadskær
Hey all, @ Snorri: Yeah, I know the Death Company are a bit BA'like. I will repeat this though, when I purchase some of the new Death Company and Sanguiniary Gard sets to be used in my DA/Green-marine army. They are simply too fantastic not to buy! I saw some of your work Snorri, and it looks good! I like that you also try to apply sharp highlights :D @ Justicar Valius: The Lion is lacking, I know. I really have a bad habit of jumping projects to whatever fancies me. Right now I'm painting two Deathwing termies and an Ogryn for my IG army...plus I've got another Vanguard which is nearing completion  @ jah-joshua: Thanks for the praise! I've seen and followed your work on CMON and I'm really impressed with your skills with a brush and your ability to paint consistently high quality on a number of very different projects. @ Cain: Hey mate - thanks for your kind words as always! The bases are from Scibor, a polish manufacturer. If you recall the Ravenwing biker I did, he's also mounted on one of their cool bike-bases; here's a link to their site: http://sciborminiatures.com/ Weekend is comming up, and I hope to get some time tonight and tomorrow with my brush and paint. /vadskær
Cyrox
I'm definately going to rder some of those bases! Thanks
Vadskær
EPIC FAIL! :cuss ;) Aaaargh! I just ruined a weeks worth of work! I've been painting an Ogryn I purchased in our GW-store in Copenhagen last Saturday alongside my marine-projects and last night I was very close to being finished when my superglue decided to feth everything up :( When attempting to glue the arm on, the top came of the glue and it just poured out everywhere. So, a perfectly nice model totally ruined since superglue doesn't come off easily (it's easier to remove a bunch of teen girls at a Twilight party than get this stuff of my model!) and now I'm torn between being angry with myself and disapointed. I have no clue what so ever as to my next project. I think I need to take a look into my boxes and see if something will pique my interest. Right now everything just sucks.... /vadskær
Keyoz Devastrius
You could try to paint the superglue red making it into clotted blood...Sorry that’s the only thing I could come up with.
VintageImpala64
I actually like the Ogryn....Kinda looks like his right arm had just been melted off by Plasma Cannon. Perhaps it could be salvaged by throwing it into a diorama? Just a thought!
SterbTemplar
Sorry for your loss! Just get back up there! Ta en pilsner så blir allt bra!* *Tack a beer and all will be well!
sword brethren
its a massive shame about that ^_^ in the imp codex it states that ogryns are very loyal to those they trust, maybe you could have a diorama of him protecting a sergeant or commisar that he trusts. just a thought, ive had the same thing happen and it hurts, i feel for you. looking forward to your next model
